Everything was cooked to perfection at the Egmont Street Eatery. The steak was the best, the fish was soft and tender. The side potatoes, the starter and even complementary fried chickpeas were delicious. Thank you for all your effort, well be back when we are in Wellington again. Also, that cocktail was amazing! Well done.
My partner and I popped in for a WOAP burger on Saturday evening, and the food and service was phenomenal. We only came in for a small bite and were so well looked after. The waiter even gave us a complimentary citrus slice for dessert which was super tasty! Thanks for the wonderful experience Egmont St Eatery!
Food and cocktails are above average. Service friendly and prompt. Was hoping for crispy potatoes on their smoked hash dish to provide a bit of texture but potatoes were just a bit ordinary. Everything else was done nicely.
Over rated and over priced, the Smoked potatoe hash let say it: its just very expensive potatoes and egg. The service is pretty bad and you wait ages to get served. So many better places to go in Welli!
Beautiful food every time, tonight was made particularly special by the lovely Jono and Finn on my partner and Is anniversary! Thanks a lot team everything was amazing.
Modern decor with nice atmosphere. The meal took a long time to come and the buttermilk chicken was over powered by too many gherkins. Service was okay.
Fantastic service and the WOAP burger was excellent with the perfect beer match, thanks Team!
Superb food, a wine selection to cater for all tastes and service that was attentive, friendly and wise in terms of advice on what to eat.
5 of us sat down for breakfast. No one came to take order for 15 minutes. By the time they did I was only able to get a cup of coffee. (time constraints) Tables here seat two people so our group took 3 tables. Before my cup of coffee came I was told that I will get my coffee in takeaway cup but will need to move from the table I was sitting because there was a couple coming for breakfast. Mind you table wasnt reserved and we were 5 of us sitting down for breakfast. I dont tend to leave negative feedback but asking someone leave table because they were only drinking a cup of coffee is bit low. Cancelled the coffee order and went somewhere else. Wont be coming back and wont be recommending to friends either.
Ive seen some of their pastries at my daily coffee shop and they always highly recommended Egmont Street Eatery, didnt disappoint at all. Had a cookies and cream donut while I waited for friends to arrive, delicious.....not overly sweet or sickening like some donuts, still has a nice chewy doughy texture followed by a decadent light filling. I ordered the smoked whitefish hashbrown, crunchy outer layer with a nice creamy inside mixed with the smokey whitefish, combined with the soft boiled egg and creme fraiche......mmmmmmmm very nice and portion size was good too. This also came with a 2nd donut on the side....this time it was a jam...dont really need to say much more. Coffee was decent, just wasnt to my taste. Service was top notch, will be back.
Small menu with superb dishes - lots of complimentary flavours
Fantastic place. Food is amazing and the service is exceptional
Doubled up on their burger soo good!!!
We hadnt been to Egmont Street Eatery since the (fantastic) Wellington on a plate mashup with Cumulus Inc, but our Saturday brunch was amazing. Perfect waffles with interesting bits (dehydrated strawberry wafers and cinnamon sugar), and a pastrami hash with perfect slow eggs. Well definitely be back
Fabulous food and great friendly, efficient service.
Underwhelming. Lukewarm coffee. Slow cooked egg not cooked. Smoked potatoes dominated by spicy kimchi and chewy dry bacon lumps.
Wonderful food, with a great wine menu. Enjoyed perfectly cooked snapper and grilled fresh asparagus, while my fiance had rump steak with grilled broccoli. The service was excellent - the staff were friendly and attentive and we appreciated the delicious extras that they brought to make up for a delay before serving.
A top brunch, lunch, dinner location. They also do catering options which I would highly recommend!!!
The service is attentive and friendly and the food is outstanding. They smashed last year’s Burger on a Plate competition and I’m hoping they do it again this year. We had fish and the lamb. Lets start with the fish it was so good one of the best I have had, lamb was good as well. Topped of with date and some curd which was so good.
Located in a quiet alley. Good food, good service. The mains sizes are probably best described as adequate. Try their brussel sprouts, they might help change your mind about this vegetable. The night we were there, the fish was groper - fresh, beautifully cooked, delicious sauce. Hands down my dish of the night. We also had beef and lamb mains, which were fine. The only slight drawback is the place is all hard surfaces, so on a busy night, it was a little on the noisy side. They had a riesling from Wanaka, a very enjoyable riesling.
An all time favourite for my finace and I. The service is attentive and friendly and the food is outstanding. They smashed last year’s Burger on a Plate competition and I’m hoping they do it again this year.Lets start with the fish it was so good one of the best I have had, lamb was good as well. Topped of with date and some curd which was so good.
Really hard to find vegan options in the menu. I got the vegetarian burger then. The ban was still frozen and the sauce extremely salty. I just eat it because we had already waited for so long and by the time the meal arrived, I was starving. When asked about the food at the counter, I let them know that it was below avarage. But they didnt seem to either care or mind. Just annoyed that I actually replied with the true to their question.
This is quite a posh place. Had a nice dinner there. I took a market fish and Chablis. Both were excellent. The only thing to notice is that the vegetables on the side need to be ordered in addition to the dish.
Amazing food and friendly service.Bbq baked beans comes served on the best cornbread Ive ever tried!Waffles are also rather decadent.Highly recommended
Very good food and wine. They dont have a big wine selection bit they few they have seem to be very carefully selected. The food is amazing. We tried the burguer, loaded fries and stracciatella; everything was awesome. Coffee was good too, they have a medium roast which is strange for New Zealand so that was a good surprise. And you neeeed to try the doughnuts theyvare amazing and a perfect way to finish up your meal.
Awesome place with great food and decor
Had waffles wife had scrambled eggs. Best waffles Ive ever had! Highly recommend!! Great place for breakfast.
Wonderful food and fantastic customer service. Couldn’t fault their recommendations at all.
Interesting little spot for a restaurant, thought it was quite cute, beautiful staff and the food was so delicious!!
Always try to visit whenever Im in Wellington. Really cool eatery, tucked away and cozy. Great spot to people watch and enjoy a coffee. Friendly staff, highly recommend.
We had fish and the lamb. Lets start with the fish it was so good one of the best I have had, lamb was good as well. Topped of with date and some curd which was so good. Had the nastertium gnochi, which was one of a kind and really good. Partner had a fried chicken dish which was also quite good. Reasonably priced for this quality in Welly.
Great food and service :)
Really nice little niche. The coffee was lovely. The hash stack couldve def done with less potatoes and perhaps a bit of greens. But overall was a great bruch which left me really satisfied.
Delicious creative dishes with fresh veggies and innovative sauces. Had the nastertium gnochi, which was one of a kind and really good. My friend had a fried chicken dish which was also quite good. Reasonably priced for this quality in Welly. Relatively quiet too, so conversation was no prob.
When we were seated we were asked still water or sparkling? We assumed that both were on tap as is fairly common these days. We were disappointed to find that we were charged $7 per sparkling water. A very tacky way to get more money out of customers. I understand that restaurants make money from drinks but we were already buying multiple cocktails and sides as well as mains. While I know this is a money-making practice overseas, I was disappointed to find it in a relaxed and otherwise nice restaurant in Wellington. Beyond this, the food was good with imaginative ingredients and well made gnocchi. Its a shame this tactic was used to make more money.
Fantastic food - I never dreamed that vegetables like cauliflower and broccolini could taste so great! And the Edith Piaff cocktail was wonderful. The service was excellent - the staff were friendly and attentive and we appreciated the delicious extras that they brought to make up for a delay before serving.
Great food, great service, great atmosphere
Delicious food and wine, and excellent service.
Great place good food Nice Staff
Really yummy food but expensive for what you get. Avoid the avocado toast for...bad value. Better with something else and half an avocado extra.
Nice food, nice atmosphere
Only critical part of my whole meal last night was that my cocktail was a bit sweet,so i got the fish and lamb fish was great fiance said but the lamb was incredible who knew parmesan and lamb with go together, for desert lemon tart was good date along was perfect. Highly recommend
Visited here for WOAP 2020 and throughly enjoyed the burger, wine match, and amazing service from Matthew. Will definitely visit again!
Small boutique eatery, central but tucked away and cosy. Limited menu for lunch or dinner and overpriced house wine but worth giving a go. Nice for a quiet date night.
Amazing brunch! I had the pancakes, which were the most delicious pancakes Ive ever had! We also tried the potato hash and the beef sandwiches - both were amazing! Highly recommend this place.
The gluten free burger during WOAP this year is incredible. My wife, a coeliac who typically dislikes burgers, went back a second time for it.
Amazing food, great service. Very impressive.
The Egmont St Eatery is a gorgeous contemporary space for a fantastic evening meal.My partner and I were both impressed with the quality of the dishes, their tastes, the presentation, and the attentive plus friendly service provided. The staff made us feel welcome and were helpful in navigating us through the menu too.Very highly recommended! We will most definitely return!
Great food and an enjoyable experience. I especially enjoyed the home made baked beans and corn bread. Very helpful and accommodating staff. Will definitely be going again.
Really good food. A Surprise find down a side alley. But certainly a place to return too. It was quite busy but that didnt seem to effect our service in any way. I was very impressed with Egmont Street Eatery. They supply a range of interesting menu items that are all professionally presented and taste amazing.
Delicious brunch and very quick
This is my favorite breakfast place in Wellington. The best food. Great staff. Delightfully quiet in the early morning during the week.
Excellent food and service. We loved the ambience of the restaurant as well. Would highly recommend to others!
Always great food and staff. Worth looking at the treats at the kitchen, there is often something of a speciality just tempting you to buy. Even if you just call in for a beer/coffee and chat, you can relax and enjoy the company,

Smallish place. Tucked away down a small side street with the restaurant area actually below street level. Some tap beers and a good wine/ beer list. Small manageable food menu.Food and service excellent. Mains delicious but desserts dont seem to be their strong point (based on one only).Usual pricing about $35 for mains. We would go there again.
Ive been here a few times.... Actually quite disappointed with the service. Great hype about the food but honestly the taste was nothing much to rave about when compared to the prices. Some training with the usual Kiwi happy sincere service would be an overall help to start with.
Been here multiple times and enjoyed every visit. Every visit included a menu change and Im constantly satisfied with the variety of menu items. Always excited to eat here.
