Food is good but a little on the expensive side, could be considered given the prime location. There is a decent sized car park right besides which makes it really convenient. The restaurant has a very interesting and cozy setup with lots of paintings, cratfs and artefacts to admire. Staff members are friendly, welcoming and helpful. Customer service is good.

I just had the BEST Chicken Korma Ive ever had! The chicken was so flavoursome even under all the deliciously creamy korma sauce. Great amount of spice. The Garlic Naan was mean too! Highly recommended.

So many great items on the menu here, but the mughlai curry is the single tastiest Indian dish Ive had in all of Wellington. The only downside to this place is that when I order enough takeaway for 2 meals, its so delicious that I eat it all in one.

Wooooow!!!You guys are absolute Amazing. have been here before couple of times and every time the food and service was great. Had to wait for food for about more than 45 - 50 min and even an hour earlier. However, it feels worth waiting every time after the food arrives and I agree good things take time. If you got time and want to have great Indian Food with lovely service - this is it.

Just the place to visit in Wellington Central if you are serious about having absolutely authentic Indian cuisine.. Excellent road touch location, lovely ambience in spacious premises, spic and span interiors, cheerful and friendly staff and beautiful pictures and traditional works of art all around the hotel enhances the overall experience !!We had several starters and mains and we cannot tell which was better than the others.. The taste, the portions and the presentation of all the dishes were fantastic.. The roties and the different naans (Indian Flat Breads) were cooked to perfection, soft and properly blended.. We shared a couple of desserts and were savouring each spoonful !! It is the kind of place you will want to visit multiple times to try out all the other dishes.. Great place to go with family and friends.. :)

Normally wouldnt bother with bad reviews, but paid $19.50 plus delivery fee for this chicken tikka masala and got four pieces of chicken and a tray that was barely a quarter full. Honestly looks like leftovers. On top of that, our food was cold. Very disappointing.

I ordered from here fairly recently and was actually a little disappointed with my order (dont get me wrong, it was tasty but not quite what I had expected).I ordered the Butter Chicken which really, is probably the wrong dish to have ordered as Saffron Haveli seems like a really authentic Indian dining experience (so perhaps I should have got something more original).The staff here are great and the food looks fantastic, so Ill definitely be ordering here again but perhaps trying something else instead (I like my curries sweet and the butter chicken just didnt cut it for me).

Our family has visited this restaurant on two occasions in the past month. As vegetarians, we found the menu options good with ample starters and mains to choose from. Service was OK but, the only person smiling was the waitress. Prices are at the higher end and for a mocktail you pay $10 per glass - a bit on the steep side for non-alcoholic. The establishment is very clean, the food is well presented and tasty however, the main courses take too long - with an average wait of no less than 30minutes for mains on both occasions that we visited. For a meal with two starters, poppadoms, three mains and three mocktails we paid close to $150 (with $30 going to mocktails only!). Haveli has paid parking on the road and patron (free) parking next door (very limited and extremely narrow so, dont go with a 4X4 and think you can get out easily). Overall, the experience was good and you should give it a try. For vegetarians we liked the Poppadoms entree,

Hands down the best indian restaurant in Wellington.

We ate the best onion bhaji we have ever eaten here, apparently they make them fresh every day and boy does it show. The chicken tikka starter was equally gorgeous with lovely moist chicken perfectly cooked. The mains were great too, although the sauce a little thick and heavy, but very tasty nonetheless. The wine list has some great choices and we had a wonderful meal.

Excellent food

Went to dine in. Staff were friendly enough however food took forever to get to us. Over an hour to get food and 30 min before we even received our drinks.Food was average probably a bit too creamy thats with four different curries we tried at our table and texture average but flavors were good. Would not say that the meals were worth the price however, especially in relation to the wait time.Would we go back? Probably not but worth trying anyway.

I only stayed one night in Wellington, and spotted this restaurant while looking for a place to eat. The menu was extensive and reasonably priced with a good selection of dishes for those with dietary needs. The food was exceptional and the portion size was good and the food was really tasty. The chana masala was as good as any I have eaten in India or made myself.The restaurant is laid out and decorated in a warm, Indian style, and if I am back this way, and I will be eating here again.

Its rare to find an Indian place that serves authentic Indian food. Saffron haveli does just that. Its set in the crowd favourite strawberry fare location and has certainly made it to the top of my Indian restaurant lists. Try their vegetarian dishes and youll be surprised how tasty food could be without meat.

If you want to wait 30-40 minutes for 1 takeaway curry when they only have 1 other customer then this is your place. For the price I paid, the curry was not worth it. The curry itself was fine, but with so many other cheaper options with better customer service in the CBD I wouldnt recommend going here. The man who took my order seemed to be upset or angry that he was working. The place was empty and now I know why.

The food is OK it just lacks any atmosphere.Maybe we were lunching on an off day, there was only one other table occupied on the other side of the room (and they were conversing in whispers).It made us feel self conscious that we were being too loud.

Honestly cant rate this place enough, Ive come here about 10 times now and Im always so surprised how empty it is because the food is unbelievably good. It is by far one of the best places to eat in Wellington period.If you havent had Saffron Haveli you may as well move to Timaru.

We came for dinner on a rainy day and it was delicious. Everything was very flavourful and ingredients used were fresh. Portion sizes were good and service was friendly. Nice ambiance.

A really fun and friendly place. Its small but big enough, great for the family and the food is fantastic.I can sole heartedly recommend saffron for its food alone.

I ordered a takeaway from this restaurant a medium veg manchuiran and when i tried it at home it was really a hot meal and the naan quality was really very bad when I went to pick up my food restaurant was totally empty so it means chef had only one job and they made a mess of my meal and they took 20 minutes for that mess. So I wont recommend this restaurant because its over priced and have poor quality. Im surprised how they can provide such a poor meal and charge me that much money even there are so many other good restaurants in city where you can get better quality of Indian food. So please be aware.

The food was kinda good. We placed an online order from the restaurant’s website, which said the delivery will be ready in 25 mins. I went there after 40 mins, it still wasn’t ready. I waited in the restaurant for another 30 mins to get INCOMPLETE order.I had ordered saag and makki ki roti along with all other things and they didn’t pack Makki ki roti!!!Such a shame!

Highly recommend. Theyve spruced the old funeral parlour up with a lick of paint, new carpet and tables, changed the seat padding, put up art and Indian ornaments, changed the entrance, and made it very cosy. Its a colourful and fresh space filled with the fragrant smells of Indian food. My party of three loved our meals. We went straight for mains and the Shahi Paneer (paneer cubes in a thick creamy slightly sweetened sauce) and garlic naan. This was gooood! The right amount of creaminess, and the paneer was moist inside. Another had a Chicken Bhuna that was meant to be dry, but the sauce was too good to turn away. Again a beautiful unsweetened sauce. Tomato based, not too tangy. Lots of chicken, and the right amount of spice. Very tasty. I had the Lamb Biryani, which came with a thick raita (pronounced ray-tha, not right-ah) and in a mini oven dish. My doggy bag contains another two meals! Some lamb bits were huge, and had to be cut. It couldve had more salt to bring the flavours out, but the spiced rice was good, and together it was delicious. Im not a raita fan, but this was good too. Thick and the right amount of cucumber, salt and other ingredients. Creamy and cooling with a hot dish.Our English waiter was knowledgeable about the food, and helped us make better food choices. Very attentive too. Haveli has many talented staff and you can see they want customers to have a good experience. It was nice to watch. Will definitely return for the good food, atmosphere and service. Well done team Haveli!
