Had a fantastic dinner at Mrs Singh! Gorgeous venue to enjoy a cocktail (recommend the Miss Mule) and a delicious Indian feast. For first timers, would suggest the momos and the paneer tikka sliders to start. A big thank you to Sean โ excellent customer service and top-notch wine recommendations. Iโll be back soon! ๐
Great food and brilliant service by Sean! Very attentive and also passionate about sharing his knowledge about local wine makers - which made our dinner a lot more special and meaningful. Happy to support local Melbourne restaurants (especially ones like Mrs Singh) during this crazy time!
Cauliflower a must! Lentil Dal a terrific vegan option with Lamb a winner with the non vegansโฆ.. finish off with the amazing service and wine options and youโre in for a winning evening!!! With great service thank you Shaun!!!
I really enjoyed the food at Mrs Singh although I do feel itโs very expensive. The price of glasses of wine is also very expensive. The service from their staff is very engaging and attentive.A shout out to Shawn, Brian and Yahya who were knowledgeable and attentive.
Mrs. Singh the cocktail was good. Good food, modern Indian. I couldnt say the same about the staff though unfortunately. One of them seems to be messing with us while another seems to think Im interested?!
The food is wonderful. A rich and wholesome blend of superbly crafted food cooked to perfection. The service was attentive, good natured and friendly. There is a significant attention to detail to the presentation of the dishes which adds to the dining experience. The music was a little bit too loud for my liking (or more than likely Im just getting old - get off my lawn). The decor is clean, modern and brings an upbeat vibe to the restaurant. Thanks to all! ๐๐ฎ๐ณ
Delicious food and exceptional service. Also a really lovely venue. Would recommend.
OMG the music. It was so, so, SO loud and took everything away from the food (good) and the wine (excellent). The service was OK but slow to clear used glasses and dishes. The owners need to make a decision about their target market - is it people who want to enjoy the food without being deafened by Bruce Springsteen, or is it the post theatre crowd who would likely enjoy a more casual vibe. We wonโt be returning, and without a clearer strategy Mrs Singh wonโt survive.
Overall we had a good experience at Mrs singh. The food is great: we had balls of happiness, fried cauliflower, prawn coconut curry, rice, raita and naan, all good. My only criticism of the food would that the prawns in the coconut curry were very small. Ambience is great and very cosy. The wine prices though.. oh dear lord!! They are quite outrageous. A bottle of punt road Chardonnay,, sold in Dan Murphys for about 23 dollars was being sold here for 57 dollars which is insane. It would be the reason why we wouldnt come back. Also, the waiter helped us fill out the application to get 20% rebate and said the application looked perfect, but we were still rejected?
This place is amazing, Food is awesome, loved the Service, Sean was amazing ,overall just simply great experience, must try their dhal
Beautiful food and lovely staff. Lots of laughs and a very relaxed vibe
Extremely disappointed! I was so looking forward to dining here and couldnโt be more disappointed. Where do I start? We arrived on time with no one else waiting and waited about 20 minutes to be seated. We were then seated at a very awkward table very close to another (no social distancing here!) when we had booked for a seat at the bar but our spot had been taken right in front of us while we waited, by two other patrons already seated. We were then seated at another oversized table and froze on the corner. At first the decor, ambiance, vibe and music was great, although music a little too loud for a restaurant. Service was absolutely shocking! We waited at least 10 minutes for our table to be set after being seated and then another 5 for menus. We werenโt offered water and eventually water arrived which was spilt across the table, we asked for sparking water which never turned up. We chose a beautiful expensive Chardonnay which was very nice but it took forever to get a second glass. Now for the foodโฆ The food was terrible!!! If you like authentic Indian food this is not the place for you. The pani puri was a good start but the paneer sliders were terrible and after one bite could not eat any more. The curries were like something you could pour out of a jar from the supermarket. There were no authentic fresh flavours or ingredients or spices. We left most of our meal untouched. The highlight was the naan, rice and raita. The food is very overpriced for the quality of food you receive. The presentation of the food is great but the actual food itself is definitely no Tonka! Given the competition surrounding Mrs Singhโs in Flinders Laneโฆ Lucy Liu, Tonka, Chin Chinโฆ this place will need to do a lot better to survive. We would prefer to pay more and get quality food. From someone who has eaten a lot of Indian food, the food is less than average. The service was terrible. Although the staff tried and were friendly the restaurant was understaffed and even when the restaurant cleared a little, the service was still appalling. Mrs Singhโs really needs to think about what it is, a wine bar or an Indian restaurant. And if itโs an Indian restaurant they will need to do a lot better with the food. Unfortunately we wonโt be returning given the other great restaurants in Flinders Lane. Given these are very difficult times for so many restaurants in the CBD we feel terrible writing this review but hopefully Mrs Singhโs will take this feedback and other reviews on board to be able to compete and survive in this precinct.
Absolutely amazing! Staff were amazing and the food was exquisite.
Friendly staff, amazing food. Will definitely visit again
Enjoyed the cocktails and atmosphere. Will definitely come back to try the food as well!
Sean is awesome , so is the wine list
So disappointed. Was very excited to dine here so had booked for my Mums birthday (mentioned this on the booking), sat down on a cramped table and was offered no water. Very loud music and the ambiance is confusing. Asked what the topping was on the oysters and the waitress had no idea - the menu is vague and there are no descriptions or even a mention if we had dined there before to give the waitress a chance to explain the menu to us. So many items on the menu we wanted to order however felt rushed and so didnt bother to ask. The waitress who served us also rolled her eyes at every simple request (like table water). After picking a wine, I wasnt shown or offered to taste it and she went right ahead and filled each glass to the brim - thankfully it was a nice bottle. Extremely disappointing experience for a Flinders Lane restaurant when you have other precincts close by known for excellence in both service and food. Please read your reviews and lift your game - will not be dining here again.
If you are an Indian then you wont enjoy the food. It is basically aimed for western taste. Bit modernised fusion type food. It was ok ok for my taste buds. However Staff was friendly so thats a positive and the prices are reasonable.
Quite disappointing for a Flinders Lane restaurant. Incredibly loud, couldnโt hear the staff trying to talk about the menu.Very overpriced, and to be honest I feel like the complex flavour of choice was just smashing ingredients with salt. The worst thing was the thali tasting platter (basically a tasting board of about 6 โcurriesโ). They were all incredibly sweet, and included a bowl of warmed coconut cream. I couldnโt eat any of them. The best thing about it was the garlic naan it came with. The service was disappointing. Staff were lovely when we entered, but did not engage with drinks etc. we had to keep asking for the drinks menu and they never came back to take our orders, but instead came back to snatch the menus away lol.So annoyed, I love Punjabi curries, but I will not come back here.
Have been looking forward to this place since I saw the sign go up and it didnt disappoint. Hungry at work, I ordered the takeaway thali ($15). The takeaway thali comes with one meat and one vegetarian curry option (or two vegetarian options) along with a decent portion of rice. I had the butter chicken and the aunty dahl (black lentil and ginger) and loved it. The dahl was filled with flavour and the chicken was tender and well seasoned. The entire dish was enjoyable and filling (I was not at all hungry when it was all gone). For $15, you cant go wrong with the thali as a takeaway lunch option. I look forward to dining in one day.
Beautiful cocktails, extensive and detailed wine list. Fragrant flavorful food. What more could you ask for?
Nice meal - the dahl was a standout could have just ordered that for myself. Have been craving it ever since.
Visited last weekend. The food was pretty good but the service was really slow as there werent enough wait staff.
Terrible food and experience. Tomato sauce dipped cauliflower onwards. Regrettable evening and wont ever be coming here again.
Amazing food and fantastic service!
Great cocktails but the food really brings the rating down - its overpriced for well below average food. At $50 pp was not expecting kettle chips, The Bata was raw and the cauliflower overcooked. Definitely a lot of room for improvement. Additionally the $10 per dumpling is excessive.
Amazing food. We ended up in here after trying to get in to a few local places with no booking. I was keen to try as I love Indian cuisine, my partner is not as big a fan as me, however even she loved this place. A really clean and fresh eating experience, full of surprises. The roasted duck parantha was a standout dish... We ordered another. But every other dish was also amazing. Really good friendly service. Price is actually quite reasonable I thought given the quality of the food. Will definitely be back. Already worded up a few mates who I know would love it too. Oh yeah, quality 90s Era hip hop a plenty while you eat, you can bop your head... Thanks all!
The cocktails are great.Definitely love the vibe and the cocktails but the food brings the rating down. The food was terrible, its hard to understand what they are trying to create. We had the 5 small plates for $50 p/head. The tandoori cauliflower reminded me of a bad sweet sour, the batata vada was raw inside......they seriously need to up their game and please get rid of the red plastic tray and kettle chips!
Finally a good modern looking Indian restaurant is here in CBD.Went there for lunch. And glad to see only two items, which helps to choose quickly. And because there are two items only in the lunch menu, the food was delivered quickly as well.A M A Z I N G food. Loved every bite of it.Great ambiance.Needless say that staff have been trained well who knows whatโs on the menu.Certainly a great place for a set Indian lunch. Highly recommend.
Very Nice and delicious lunch Thali
We went in last night and didnt get asked to sign in. Not great, given we just come out of lockdown. Can you please make sure you get the right Covid practices in place. Would have messaged direct but theres no mail.Other than that, was a nice spot. Thanks!
Delicious Indian dishes in Flinders.
Went with a group of friends for lunch... What a way to do a group lunch!!! Fantastic selection of dishes on a big platter, everything had great flavour and good portions.Would recommend experiencing with a cocktail!
Food was ok...Service was poor. The waiter kept rushing us to order..Cramped space...
Great food, lovely energy
The ambience is excellent and their wine list is extremely generous, but the flavours of the Indian food are not quite right.
Loved our first visit to Mrs Singh! (Party of 4 during COVID restrictions). The restaurant is cosy with great music so it was a pleasure to come here while restrictions are in place as we had been worried there wouldnt be any atmosphere. We tried a few cocktails and mixed gins, which were all delicious! We decided to order ourselves rather than the testing menu, but next time we think we might try the testing menu as others around us got it and it looked really good.Everything we ordered was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone at the table, with special mention of the tuna and watermelon pappadum dish and the special blue cheese naan bread. All staff were very lovely!Only small thing to note was that because of restrictions we only had 90 mins for the whole sitting, which meant we didnt have time for dessert and as the drinks took some time to come out, we didnt get to try as many as we would have liked.Cant wait to return!
The Best in food and Hospitality..Best Fusion of indian food and good taste.been there twice and will go back for aure.
Food, wine, service, vibe, wine all 5 stars. Great atmosphere ๐ฅฐ
Didnt find any unique taste in okra, corn, or blue cheese nan. Enjoyed the ambiance. Food is over priced. Will try the thali next time. hope it will be good.
Really amaizing wine list with friendly knowledgeable staff! The decore is decadent, kitch and fabulous!Great take away wine prices and a great menu! Will definitely be back!
I went there yesterday with a few friends from Canada for drink and a bite to eat. It a nice modern place with lovely dรฉcor but the price for the food is very pricey consider the portion is tiny. We ordered a few plates and it wasnt that great especially the King Gorge Sashimi. The sashimi plate only have 5 tiny slices of the fish garnish by this creamy sauce for $20. The fish was not fresh when I taste it and it have a fishy smell to it which make me gag. The Paneer sliders was tasteless with tiny cabbage coleslaw in between and it was cold. There are plenty of place in Melbourne that serve quality food and for a great price.
Ambience and wine list is a 5**** and probably a great place for hangout for a good long chatFood just missed the mark completely, not tasty, bland and mixing of flavours was a not well thought of so not a great dinner place according to me
