Always go the $55 banquet and have literally never been able to eat it all. So many amazing dishes, it is honestly amazing value for money. Service is efficient and friendly. Cant wait my next visit!

I took my family here for for a 60th and we all absolutely loved it! The food was super tasty and there was a huge selection to choose from, sending back empty plates with everything we had 😍 The atmosphere was really good and felt very traditional. Highly recommend and will be returning!

Wonderful spot for current Greek food. Their trio of plunges and bread are top notch. Courses are their strength IMHO. The spot is constantly reserved out so except if you wouldnt fret sitting outside, call to book ahead of time. The proprietor and his staff are a warm and cordial pack. Also, the best thing is their costs are difficult to beat thinking about the area and ubiquity.

Hands down the best Greek food I’ve had in Melbourne!! I found this place randomly on google and ordered some food and the food was nothing but outstanding! I loved it so much I ordered it for dinner again the next night.I highly recommend ordering the slow roasted lamb shoulder, chargrilled octopus & any of the souvlaki’s.I’ll definitely keep coming here for food. Looking forward to coming in person once lockdown ends!!

Oh my god the food is delicious! Lemon soupa was just like something my yiayia used to make. The calamari and aoli just melts in your mouth. Potates cooked to crispy perfection. Cant wait until lockdown is over so we can come and dine in. Thank you!

We commemorated a milestone 30th birthday on Wednesday night. Based on high expectations from the rave reviews and the involvement of Philip Vakos on MasterChef, we booked for 7 people at Bahari. Thorough planning was made to ensure this celebration will be a memorable one. Well… it was, for all the wrong reasons. One of our party is Coeliac with a gluten free diet. She called up at the time of making the booking to ask if there would be anything for her to eat. She was assured that there will be no issue with this, they will make her a special dish. Once we were seated and about to order, lo and behold there was nothing they could make gluten free/coeliac. The management denied we had made the request and were happy for us to leave the restaurant. There was no empathy, offer a complimentary drink or any incentive for us to return. We went to another restaurant in the same street, they were obliging, food was excellent and were happy to accept our $$$.Highly unimpressed with Bahari, was really looking forward to tasting their cuisine. Wont be back again, and happy to share this “experience” with everyone we know.

Ive been to Bahari before and I highly rate it. I went online earlier today to book dinner for a group of 8 and noticed Bahari requires you to book their banquet for 7 or more guests. Our group had 4 kids under 5 years old. I called the restaurant to see if we still needed to order the banquet for our group and I was advised that we didnt. I then cancelled our other dinner reservation, advised the other family and we all rearranged our afternoon to meet at Richmond at 530pm. I then received a call from Bahari to advise me that the owner will only accept my booking unless we order the banquet, which earlier I was advised I didnt. I politely told the staff member that we have already cancelled the other restaurant and have planned our afternoon to be there at 530pm. He agreed and said hell see us at 530pm. I returned to my phone 30 minutes later to see 5 MISSED CALLS including voicemails from the owner and the staff member to tell me that I will need to order the banquet for all 8 people as it is in their T&Cs!!! I called back and cancelled our booking. Terrible customer service to say the least which is shame as the food is great. No apologies or anything offered from Bahari. We would of easily spent the banquet value had they been flexible or co-operative. Lift your game guys.

Don’t go here for bookings for large groups (apparently 7+ is large). You are forced to choose only from the “banquet” menu and cannot order individual meals. This was not mentioned at time of booking or confirmation email attached despite the owner mentioning so. Wait staff are lovely but owner is unpleasant and not receptive to feedback. Wouldn’t go again.

Horrendous experience. Forced to pay $55 a person from a banquet menu because he had a “large group of 10”. No one informed us of this, and the owner was so pig-headed he said he would charge us $30 a head if we refused to order and leave. Do not go here and spend your hard earned money.

Best Tzatziki Ive ever had! Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious, and the haloumi cigars were amazing.

Great food took my wife who has a Greek background said very good food only complaint would be the dips a bit watery lacking flavor and salad came out really cold which after eating hot food hurt her teeth but the desert where amazing like the rest of the food we had which was trio of drips with chips hollumi cigars zucchini fritter kid goat beetroot salad and white bait all excellent will be back to try more thanks.

Weve been going to Bahari for the year and the sustenance is magnificent. Philip Vakos, prominent as a hopeful in the mid-2000s on MasterChef, is all around associated with the Greek sustenance network in Melbourne and presents very much estimated, crisp healthy Greek toll at Bahari.Profoundly suggested.

Really really delish Greek food! Ordered the $40 banquet and also the haloumi fries. The haloumi fries are sensational and it’s a must order! The $40 menu includes dips w warm breads 🤤 calamari and haloumi. The mains were this sensational pulled pork and lamb. I don’t normally like pork but this was amazing. It also came with potato and salad. For an extra $5 we get this shared dessert platter which was really delish.The service was friendly and the Adelaide Hills Rose really hits the spot.What can really be improved was the calamari- it wasn’t as fresh as it could be and also the haloumi was slightly salty.

I’m not an expert in Greek cuisine but spoiled by Hellenic Republic, it was an average dinner. Lamb shoulder, pita and Taramasalata was good. Cauliflower & pomegranate grain salad was very bland. Calamari was average. Light deep fried Whitebait was a winner.

Really surprised by how good this place was. Our eyes were too big for our stomachs as we sampled the delicious tapas style dishes, which were so generous in size. The scallops and saganaki were amazing, as were the zucchini and fetta fritters, mushrooms and beans. Highlight of the night was the halva ice cream, such a tasty way to end the meal. The staff were wonderfully friendly and accommodating when we asked to move from the annoying table by the door and continued to be really attentive throughout the night. Busy spot and lively ambience. Creative touch in the bathroom - youll have a double-take.

We had a bunch of share plates & it was amazing! We stuffed ourselves and still wanted more! Chargrilled Octopus was definitely a favorite and the Stuffed Eggplant. There is also a good selection of beer and wine.The customer service was impecible with friendly staff & fast service. The atmosphere is cosy & warm with good modern styled lighting, great for evening dinning.

Ive been here a few times and the food and service has been excellent. I recently got some home delivery of a lamb shoulder souvlaki with chips, a vegetarian souvlaki 3 dips of taramosalata, smokey eggplant and tzatzaki with bread, some haloumi cigars.My lamb shoulder souvalaki was delicious, although the chips tasted floury. But overall this was really good as the lamb was perfectly cooked.My partners vegetarian souvalaki was good, it contained zucchini fritters but there was too much soft cheese.The haloumi cigars were good but very sweet with lots of honey. They were very tasty and great as a sweet dish.Of the 3 dips, the smokey eggplant was delicious, and the dips tasted better the following day.Overall this was a solid experience and definitely worth a visit.

Bloody fantastic. We took a punt on this place as we wanted to eat close to home. Called up and although fully booked, they managed to squeeze us in last minute. The place is cosy, the staff are attentive and the owner is enthusiastic, friendly and keen to hear your thoughts on the food/experience.If you love Greek food, you have to give it a try. The food is fresh, tasty and the portions represent good value for money. Also, the desserts are outstanding.

Ordered takeaway for a birthday dinner at home and experienced such excellent service. The woman I spoke to on the phone was very helpful, and even threw in a free beautiful baklava dessert when she heard it was a birthday celebration. The food was delicious!

This is the best Greek eatery with a solid crew on hand to deliver perfect food and service every time.Surprisingly great value too so we havent needed to spend a lot to keep our small and large groups happy.Only thing I miss are the complementary ouzo shots upon when paying.

Made a booking at the restaurant for 3 people including one child. The restaurant seems like does not want to encourage people with children said the charge will be the same for all guests including a child even if 4 year old. That is ok but may be make it clear that you do not want people with kids to enter your premises. There are a million of options in a city like Melbourne but never ever coming your way Bahari even when you change your policy. Disappointing.

The food was DELICIOUS and the service was warm, hospitable and friendly. We had lunch at Bahari for my mums birthday and the small touches like a surprise birthday candle on the dessert for mum was nice and thoughtful. The zucchini ball/fritters were a highlight. The dips definitely tasted authentic and made in-house, not bought in bulk from a 3rd party supplier. The lamb was tender and cooked to perfection. The dessert!! Im amazed I managed to get a photo of it before we polished it off, the BEST galaktoboureko Ive tasted in a LONG time. Perfect balance of syrup and pastry. The only thing Id suggest is maybe mixing up the music playlist, it sounded like the same song was on repeat. No biggie though, a beautiful homely restaurant and foodie experience, a big thank you to the Bahari team. Yum-ness rating of 10/10 :-) I/we will be back!

Best Greek food weve had in Melbourne! My husband is Greek and his family is full of amazing cooks. Bahari is the only place that rivals that, and their service is just as amazing. Delightful staff, Danny was so friendly and warm.We ordered takeaway recently and it made our weekend! The lamb shoulder and those roasted potatoes are to die for. Was going to give them 4 stars then we got the comp digestive and the super great value bill , so 5 stars it is!Terrific service from charming staff. Eggplant entree and beetroot salad were ok, while the goat main and dessert of baklava sandwich were amazing! $120 for 2 , including shared entree, main. salad, dessert, coffee and a bottle of delicious Greek rose is enough to have me returning for more. Thanks team.

Food is good but a bit pricey for what it is

I’ve experienced the full force of rudeness and disrespect from both staff and the owner. Not only was I spoken to disrespectfully, but the owner refused to apologise. I do believe this place does not treat people equally regardless of where their from. I will never support a business of this nature.

Great food - but falls short on service.We had the banquet which tasted incredible. However a sour taste was left in our mouth on a few things, they don’t tell you that upstairs and downstairs are mutually exclusive, so we booked thinking we could order cocktails and found out that you are not allowed to order from the upstairs bar.Secondly - we tried to order coffees at the end of our meal (at 9:30pm and we were told no , as they weren’t serving coffee anymore).Overall decent experience as the food was good but staff are a bit clueless in their hospitality.

When visiting Melbourne you need to get some quality Greek food. Bahrari is the perfect place to enjoy classic Greek meal. The food is simplistic perfection. The service is excellent too. Our server Angel guided us well on what to order and how much to order. The restaurant is intimate and always fully booked, so make reservations so you aren’t disappointed. We will be back.

This is a staple for us living in Richmond and never disappoints. It’s up there with the best Greek food I’ve encountered here and in Greece.The menu staples are great but they keep it fresh with the ever changing special list.What we must have is their lamb skewers and the trio of dips. You’ll be ordering more bread it’s so good!I suggest to book in he evenings.

Bahari is as Greek as it gets. A small sliver Greece has been neatly placed onto Swan Street. Its as authentic as it gets, down to the last detail. Unpretentious, loud, friendly and full of character.

Best Greek in Melbourne? Hard to call it Greek food really. In the change to Greek-English theyve managed to take out all of the great taste and soul that is at the heart of Greek food. No pictures and poor explanations of what youre ordering.Good if you like your foods and salads basking in oil. Wine was good but otherwise food, service, environment and value for money was less than average. Disappointing and wont be coming back, sorry.

Went for a late Saturday lunch. Venue was not packed. Which was lovely as it wasn’t too loud.Wine selection was fairly extensive, perfect if you like a few options. Waitress was lovely.Opted for the banquet option and everyone definitely got their worth. Full bellies and food still left.Would recommend and will dine again soon.

Wow.... delicious and inviting. The food was amazing, especially the dips and bread. Service was exceptional and we felt really welcome. An urban feel with yummy classic hellenic food. A must for lovers of Greek cuisine.

Probably one of the best Greek restaurants I have ate at. More authentic than Gazi, way better than Stalactites and cheaper too. Staff were very friendly and helpful when looking at the menu. Definitely get a lot of little things and the Baklava was delicious.

Unforgettable meal. Incredibly friendly service from the staff, the meals were incredible and portions were large enough to share around the group without feeling like you missed out. Do yourself a favour and save room for the candied bacon baklava, easily the best dessert I’ve ever had.
