Amazing experience.Never excepted the place to be absolutely CLEAN & LITTER FREE.Quite a good place for photoshoots though it is in total ruins and in your excitement please dont go overboard and risk your life by placing yourself on the edges.Even the garden through which we have to pass is well manicured.Had being yesterday rainy morning and quite early,so had hardly few morning walkers in the garden and on the fort except for a couple of youngsters the place was empty.Though the place is haunted by various folklore that people indulge in drinking ,drugs etc, found the place quite safe. Really a good initiative by whomsoever to keep the place spic and span, worth multiple visits.AND whenever you to go PLEASE DONT LITTER.

I visited this place. This place is very beautiful and lots of trees and historical things. When you look at the top of the fort, you can see almost half of Mumbai. You will see many factories and buildings here. There is also a garden on the side of the fort, and the ground will also be seen on the island. Here you will also get fresh air and if you want to spend good time then you can go here.I think this info will be useful for you.😇

A good place to see the sunrise and enjoy the breezy weather and you get a scenic view of the city and industrial landscape from here. However, I was disappointed to see the condition of the fort that looked in dilapidated condition and wish the government could do something to maintain these forts and its heritage. Its best to come in a group at the fort and also theres a garden at the base thats well maintained so a decent place to hangout.

Sion fort was built under the British regime atop a conical hillock, Sion Fort marked the boundary between British-held Parel island and the Portuguese held Salsette Island. It’s a blessing in disguise for those looking to hear the chirping of birds, feel the gush of clean air and a bird’s eye view of the city. The fort played an important role for Britishers.Today this place is really crowded by youngsters (mostly couples)and hence the fort is looking its charm due to such irresponsible and carless people

The Fort which isnt that highlighted among Mumbaikars is worth visiting.🎉Good amount of Plant species and insects and butterfly with some common birds. For making the park more attractive it has artificial Water Fall with without water is more enjoyed by Children. And the Fort has great history as well which is from 1677.There is even the well present which is Surrounded by plants. The canon of that era is still present there. But government should maintain the Fort more wisely. There are just many love stories on the wall of the Fort. And the Fort is supported by the wooden plank inserted on the walls.

It’s a beautiful place when you compare with the busy life of Mumbai. It’s at the walkable distance from the bus stands or the main highway. One needs to climb some 200 steps to reach at the top the pick of the fort. There are certain remains of the fort at this place. There is a beautiful small garden well maintained there. At the same time one of the most beautiful thing is to get the complete Mumbai view , rather the city view from the top. I ’m sure you’d enjoy some precious moments in silence with your loved ones to cherish when you visit this place. One word of caution, be careful when you walk through the remains of the fort because it’s open at many places and you may fall down from 3 mts height or so.Enjoy.

Sion Fort was constructed by the Governor of Bombay, General Gerald Aungier in the interest of offering a passage from Bombay to the neighbouring island of Salsette. It held prime importance to the British as Salsette was in the fist of the Marathas. Currently, the gap between Salsette and the fort has been taken up by commercial Eastern Express Highway. The Archeological Society of India maintains this piece of heritage. The Fort has disintegrated and does not stand in its original beauty and structure. It is quite evident when you contrast it with a picture captured by James Wales in 1791-92 to its current outlook.

Built in the 1670s, this fort now lies in ruins. Although there has been some restoration work and its made the place much better than before, lack of security is an issue. There is basically no security present and anyone can vandalize this piece of history. Vandalism is quite evident. Despite that, it remains a beautiful spot in the area. I recommend visiting during the monsoons.

Nice place to have snaps. Quite high and small lung of green and peace in heart of Mumbai. The fort on the hillock is definitely worth a few hours spent there.Of course, its in a state o disrepair, a centuries old cannon just lying in the dirt, graffiti all over. But still a could see spot too.Bit of walking uphill, also carry your water along. Good place enjoy there with friends and family.

Sion Hillock Fort is a fort in Mumbai (Bombay), India. It was built under the regime of the English East India Company, between 1669 and 1677, atop a conical hillock when Gerard Aungier was the Governor of Bombay. It was notified in 1925 as a Grade I Heritage structure. When it was built, the fort marked the boundary between British-held Parel island and the Portuguese held Salsette Island that lay to the north across the creek. The hillock is situated 500 metres from the Sion railway station. At the base of the hill is the Mumbai Circle office of the Archaeological Survey of India, and a garden – the Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Udyan. Nearby forts include the Riwa Fort and Sewri Fort. The fort is dilapidated and a collection of broken stone steps, scattered walls and ruins, overrun by trees and ground cover. The fort wall has a small room on top. A series of pathways lead to it. The fort offers a panoramic view, overlooking the salt pans in the Thane Creek. However vandalism and apathy have taken toll on the structure. Restoration of the fort had begun in 2009 but was stopped mid-way due to paucity of funds.

This is one place that would never find a mention in any of the lists of recommended places to visit. Few reasons being lack of awareness or decrepit condition or reputation as couples spot. But I would suggest that you ignore these things as it is manned with security staff, and to be on the safer side fathers can get the kids. My kids LOVE this place, and there is a big reason why. It has a slanting step-like structure for water fall that is covered with mosaic tiles. There is no water here, but the kids simple love to climb up and down the steps of this structure. It is a big challenge and fun exercise for them. In addition to this, one can also trek to the top of the hill, which has ruins of the fort and cannons, etc., and offers best views of Mumbai. It also has great amount of flora. One may also visit Mahim Nature Park from here (by auto) to see how a garbage dump was converted into a thickly wooded park.Hours: 7am - 12pm, 4pm - 8pmAccessibility: Walking distance from Sion railway station. Alternatively can also access by auto from Chunabhatti railway station.
