Yes you must visit the place get to know greatness of about our culture
Beautiful view but people must stop throwing all the soaps and shampoo packs into Kalyani.Enjoy mother nature but please dont spoil it
We visited this pushkarni after worshipping Narasimha on the hilltop. Called Kalyani Pushkarni it is almost 1000 years old and is the biggest waterbody in Mandya District. It finds mention in Padmapurana and Matsya purana. During Ramanujas time when he ran short of tiruman he was guided in a dream to look at a spot in Kalyani pushkarni and found white clay deposits which is used for Tiruman. The tank is surrounded by corridors held by pillars. There are several mandapams around the tankand we went searching for the Brindavanam of Adivan Satakopa Jeer the founder of Sri Ahobila Muth. In 1990 it was a great feeling to be at the holy spot where we made rice flour kolams and offered sugar candy and camphor light offering. But during our next visit in 1998 we saw a beautiful Brindavanam built for Jeer. It was closed when we went and we were told that we should come at about 8.30 A.M. for darsan. We however managed to meet the aradhakar swami at Yoga Narasimha temple and contributed our mite for offering curd rice the following day.
An amazing example of a temple town settlement, melukote has a significant impact on architecture student and research groups. This temple pond enriches us with the irrigation systems and all the multifunctional or gathering space around it which made the temple pond a great space for community gatherings. sorrounded by a veranda which is detailed by stone pillars and beautiful stone carving, still it is a great space for relaxing amidst a godly experience. In ancient India, temples were typically built near a water source. They would be built on the banks of rivers, beside streams and lakes or have tanks adjacent to them. The Kalyani tank is one such water tank that stands in Melukote in the Mandya district of Karnataka. This ancient temple tank has a history spanning over 1000 years and is considered o be the largest of 108 temple tanks in the district. It isn’t just by chance that our ancient temples were built near water sources. In ancient times, temples were a place of refuge and many people lived around the temples. The temple tank served as a source of water for them.Water is also believed to have the ability to absorb positive energy. Hence, when priests chant, the energy released is absorbed by the water. Devotees of these temples believe that bathing in these waters will give them this energy. In January 2019, Infosys announced a project to restore and renovate the Kalyani tank. This will include desilting the tank, removing waste and cleaning it, reconnecting the existing canals and building a compound wall around the tank. This endeavor will improve the quality of water in the tank and help restore the natural ecosystem.
Situated up in the Pandavapura taluk of Mandya district in Karnataka, is south Indias ancient temple town, Melukote or Melkote. A popular pilgrimage city overlooking the Cauvery valley, Melukote is situated on the bouldered hills of Yadavagiri or Yadugiri. Also known as Thirunarayanapuram, the sacred place abounds in history and heritage, and is sure to transport you 4000 years back to its inception. The simplicity, the calmness, the ancestral relic and the spiritual legacy in the air along with some excellent sculptures, carvings and architecture are the highlights of this town, also referred by some as South Indias Badrinath.Deriving its name from two words, Melu meaning top and Kote meaning fort, Melukote is also the birthplace of late Tamil Naidu Chief Minister and AIADMK leader Jayalalitha. The irony also lies in the fact that despite being one of the most religious destinations of the country, people in this town dont celebrate Diwali as it was the date when Tipu Sultan slaughtered in many cruel ways more than 800 Mandyam Iyengars of this town.Early in the 12th century, the great Srivaishnava saint Ramanujacharya took up his residence and lived in this location for about 14 years. It thus became a prominent centre of Srivaishnavism. Large numbers of Iyengar Brahmins migrated and settled in the region, forming the Mandyam Iyengar community. They resisted and rejected to forcefully convert to islam By Tipu Sultan and helped British to fight against Him. People of Melkote do not celebrate Deepawali (the festival of lights) till date since November 10, 1790 (Naraka Chaturdashi). It was the date when Tipu Sultan slaughtered in many cruel ways more than 800 Mandyam Iyengars of this town as the Iyengars along with Rani Lakshmammani secretly planned with George Harris, a Major General in the Madras Army of East India Company to dethrone Tipu Sultan.. People of Melukote thus do not celebrate Deepawali but mourn on the festival of lights every year. Unfortunately, this event is not mentioned by any contemporary sources or writers like Buchanan. Now its very essential to plan how to restart Deepawali there, it should be reinitiated at earliest.

Nice place to spend chill out one day.
If you are a person who likes architecture and landscape photography..perfect place for both...Place for devotees too..Overall nice place.Dont get confused with route..better ask localites
Lovely place, clean and well kept though very ancient. Free food is served by the sthanika guruji between 12 and 1 pm opposite to the main temple. Melkote guruji was kind, generous and nondiscrimatory while serving food (which was something new for me in temples).
Location was really nice. Ancient temples. A good viewpoint. Everything made the place worth visiting. The only issue is the distance from the city.
Awesome views and very calm place. Appears that time has stopped here.
Temple committee r management fail to maintain clean and healthy environment and Kalyani water. I also visited but they didnt maintain clean, plz concentrate about surrounding areas including all the temples areas plz .,
Its a largest Kalyani holywater is worshipped by Hindus..need lot of improvement in order keep the water clean .. As you see the Kalyani for the first time you feel happy inside

Approach road to this place is being done by Infosys foundation hence the ride/ drive should be struggle free in a few weeks. The place is very scenic. A must see place.
Superb place to enjoy in Melukote. The place is really cool and can have a great time. The water is good and clean and swimming can be done. Large place and decent scenic views. This place is filled with water even in summer seasons and can be visited to have fun in hot Summers also.
Very nice site here.Very very auspicious place to take bathLots of function also organised here.
Very beautiful place but maintained poorly . Entire Melukote is such a place that you feel you are one century back in time. There is so much scope for tourism improvement but entire place is not maintained. All garbage items like used flowers , temple offerings , plastic bags thrown all around this Kalyani . Even water quality at pond is bad and cannot be used for anything . Even with all these place is so attractive that regular pre wedding photoshoots are made here !!
Very nice and devotional place. Definitely for family. If you are traveling with family then I definitely recommend this place.
This ancient temple tank has a history spanning over 1000 years and is considered to be the largest of 108 temple tanks in the district and one of the sacred places in Melkote. There is a belief that if the wishes were comes true devotees drowning here in Kalyani and they holy dip after climb steps towards temple uphill to take darshan of Lord Cheluvanarayanaswami
A grand Temple lake before you climb upto reach Yoga Narasimhar. A flight of steps down and you can have a decent bath sitting in the steps. The steps are very slippery. The depth is about 5 feet. The water looks green, however, is good for pouring on oneself. Must visit.
Very good temple. Must visit.

Melukote is located in Pandavapura taluk of Mandya District and is a very well known and sacred place in South India and is about 140 km from Bangalore District.Very easy to locate and one needs to divert from the Bangalore-Mysore highway towards Melukote. The Kalyani area has featured in many Kannada and Tamil films and many song sequences have been shot here as well. The temple is surrounded by beautiful structures, temples and mantaps and a lot of greenery. The architecture is classic and the surroundings are well maintained.A must visit place and ideal for a day trip.Keep the place clean and do not litter. Do not carry plastic and mess up the place please. Let others visiting the place after you, have a good experience too.
KALYANI TEERTHAM – MELKOTE, MANDYA:Sacred pond attached to Cheluvanarayana Swami Temple, Melkote – Lies under the foothills of Yadavagiri Hills – About 100 metres away from the temple complex – Large and deep - Rectangular in shape – Houses mandapas on all four sides – Devotees visit to pay obeisance to their dead (bali-tharpan) – Shooting site of many south Indian films - Nice to sit on the long steps to watch the cooling breeze coming from Yadavagiri Hills caressing the water to form rings of ripples - Panoramic to view from Narasimhaswamy Temple situated atop the hill.
It is very big & nice place to visit. But it is not maintained

This is the condition of Kalyani. Government should take action and create awareness among tourists and locals to keep this neat.
My partner and I love Melkote. it is a place that is sacred and profane.
Its an awesome place for photography and film shooting. You can see this place in many Kannada movies. Its a nice, calm and cool place. This place requires some maintenance as its not clean. Government should take some steps to clean the premises. Overall its a nice place to visit.
Must see place ..... Very nice carving on the pillar
The place is so peaceful and feel blessed on visit, all the temples are so beautiful and ancient, dhanshkoti is amazing place, never miss to carry a camera the landscape and the sunset is so wonderful, dont miss to taste sweet pongal and puliogare on visit, never carry food in covers or hand as monkeys will surely loot for food.
Amazing structure, just needs to be maintained to retain/refresh the lost glory.
Variety of fishes you can see but be careful about snakes which will be beneath the stones but no need to worry it’s non poisonous. Tortoise you can see floating on the water surface
Its a very scenic place, although we need to take care of it and keep it clean!!There was some maintenance work going on when we went here but that was not a problem at all
Famous for templesFood - puliogare rice and Sweet pongal must taste
Good temple.Beauty....
Good tourist place. Great place for movie shooting
Superb place for one day trip from Bangalore 😍😍
Awesome historical place
What a wonderful kalyani or water tank used by the devotees for bathing before visiting the above hill temple.they have built many wonderful temples along the four sides of the tank with beautiful stone sculpture and grand designs. Though the temples are abandoned for long time, majority of the stone carvings and sculpture is lively as they have started fading away slowly.Cleanliness is maintained though there was massive crowds today.
Large Indian temples are incomplete without a Flag post or a Holy Pond opposite. This Kalyani (Pond in Kannada) is in between Cheluvarayaswami temple and Narasimha temple, with lovely stepped stones and Mantapa. Built centuries ago, they are alive even today.
Nice place to visit with your family and friends................
Lots need to be concentrated on cleanliness as place is not maintained well. swimming is allowed in the pool. Nice place with cool breeze and ambience. Scorching sunlight are unbearable but shades are pretty ok. The view from Kalyani towards temple gopura is awesome. You can find lots of goats grassing around temple pond.
Very good place, very silent place...... beautiful place
As clean as it gets and well preserved historical place...
Plenty of Temples, Kalyaanies...all over the place.. Shree Cheluvanaaraayana (another Avathaara of Shree Venkata Ramana Swaamy)in centuries old temple and Shree Yoga Narasimha Swamy situated on top of hill... And u have to eat the Puliyogare made by the tamililian iyangaaries soo tasty and a bit bit over priced by vendors... They say some more than 140 temples are around here... I havent tried to visit... And this place is famous for Akka Thangiyara Kola (sisters ponds), Dhanushkodi where Shree Raama shot an Arrow on to a hill to get water for Shree Seethaadevi during their 14 years of Vanavaasa, Raaya Gopura which was supposed to be built in one night... Its plenty of history with lots of divinity and spirituality....... 🙏
