An iconic place suitable for clicking snaps and relish your memory where most movies are shot
Two ponds side by side and in between eeswara and Anjaneya temple. Younger sister (tangi) started digging pond so water in the pond are clean. By seeing younger sister elder sister too started digging so that water looks like some what muddy. Dont keep your feet in the water. Its sacred ones. Dont throw waste also.
A nice place to spend evening with family, only evening or early morning because at day time it is hot. Akka Thangi kola literally means elder sister and younger sister pond. This pond was built by two sisters for the local people to use. But it is believed that the ponds resembled the characters of sisters. One was good at heart and the other was not so. To be precise the younger was good, so do the pond was clean and drinkable and the other was not so like the elder sister. Strange is that the both the ponds have same source for water. Worth visit this place if you are at Melukota
Two pools can be found together...Another pool will be found little farThe water of these pools are clean...Two pools have separate temples...These temples are built by stone... and many pillars is curved with statues....People were taking bath hereRound around steps were constructed to get down the poolLittle far a pool full of dirty plants and plastics were got to seeThere was no crowd at allOne pool can be used, another was left over for many years without useNo one was there to tell about this poolThe temple named is Kulashekarvar sannidi is found here
Simple place. Two kolas side by side. One is called the akka (elder sister) and the other is called the Tangi kola. This is near to cheluvanarayana swamy temple. Here the water in Tangi kola is drinkable while the water in the akka kola is not drinkable. Water here is not so clean since there is an green algae present on the surface of the boundaries of the kola. Its a place for some relaxment and passing time. Some fishes are there in this water as you can see them in the pictures that I have attached here.
This place has two ponds named as Akka Thangi Kola which is situated at the back side of Cheluvanarayana Swamy temple. You visit this place by walk from the chaluvanarayana swmay temple in 5 min minutes. This place has lots of monkeys and they can attack at any time if they see any bags in your hand. I would suggest to visit empty hands to avoid such attacks from monkeys. Also, I dont see any security to avoid such attacks from monkeys to the visitors.
One of the best place to visit. Make sure you guys go early morning to enjoy the scenic view.
This place is a must visit if u are in melkote.. this is better than the main kalyani near temple
This place two ponds which has a history behind this. Nice place to visit for 1 day trip
These Kalyani’s are added beauties to melukote. You can visit here when you are upto raya gopura
The term Akka means elder sister andTangi means younger sister Kola means pond. (Explained especially for non Kannada peoples) ☺️✅ Very old historical place,✅ The premises are clean,✅ Pond water not preferred to drink✅ Enjoy the unique twin pond structure✅ morning and evening is best time to visit✅ Dont miss to visit this place
Great Historic place where you can see the remains of a great entrance.
Awesome place to visit during weekend near Bangalore
Its 50 kms from Srirangapatna to Melkote. Melkote is a historical town hosting few temples on a small hill. It is also one of the famous film shooting spots. The road leading to this remote location is curvy single road and mostly good roads. There are quite a number of speed brakers without any signs or paints on it. Take care while driving. We reached around 16:30.The most famous spot is Raya Gopura. This is on top of the hillock. The Raya Gopura has 4 artistic pillars. One has to climb few steps - around 40-50 and see this place. The place offers great views of the surrounding location. Famous films shot in this location are Padayappa, Linga, Guru and many more. We spent around 45 minutes here.
There must be a scientific reason why one pond water is slushy and another drinkable unlike the story portrayed in the history books. People are not allowed to use the water. The clean water from the pond is used in the temple for the deity. It is around one kilometer from the chaluvanarayana temple and hence most of them water till here
Good kolam neatly maintained, #touristplace ,#spritualplace
The Kalyanis are next to each other. Its on the way to Rajagopura. The water from Tangi kola is taken for Abhisheka of God. Check out for photos.
Super place for peaceful ambience
Loved it and peaceful place❤️
Famous twin pondsCheluve arasiyara kola(akka_tangikola) water differs in both ponds.. as per regional folk ther is a sum interesting story abt water. Daily abhisheka tirtham i mean holy water taken to cheluvarayaswamy temple. Nice traditional place for piligrims.
As the name Akka & tangi kola reflecting 2 Daughters of a King who constructed these pond on behalf of his 2 daughters and said that quality of water reflects the mind of his daughters and as seen even though both being next to each other, the water of Akka Kola (elder Sister) is always dirty and not used , while Water in Tangi Kola (Younger Sister) is pure and used for Sri CheluvaNarayana Swamy temple Pooja Purpose.
