We were a group of 6, made a reservation one week in advance. Before we even sit down at the table, the waiter already rushed us that we need to finish our food quickly and that we better order all our food at once because he will not be at the table in an hour. We order everything as told, and the service was pathetic and minimal. We felt rushed and being poorly treated. In the end, we wanted to pay less service charge (£174 instead of £180) because there was no service at all. The waiter who was rude and providing minimal service was rude and said 3 staffs were serving us, which wasnt true, and that we should be able to pay the service charge. However, its more a message that we were not satisfied with the service. He scoffed and said “oh my god” and justified us not paying the full amount (£6 less). After we went away, we received a notification from OpenTable saying the restaurant said we didnt attend our reservation. I guess its their little revenge. Its a ridiculous experience.

Before booking, check for the opentable deal that offers 25% off.Ordered the kebab and duck starters - the kebab one is definitely a winner, the duck starter had the savoury flavour overpowered by the sweetness. The mains were duck and lamb, I hoped for either to be a bit more spicy. The atmosphere was relaxed and dimly lit, maybe a bit too dimly lit (the bulb above our table didnt come on).Overall: satisfactory, some wine is required to get the most out of the meal. 3.5*

We work at a hospital next to this place and went as a group of 8 yesterday. They said we could have the table for an hour and we accepted it. Upon reaching, even before we were shown a menu, the waiter “told” us what starters he was giving us, did not allow us to sit properly and was literally shooing us around. Kept telling us it was our fault we had called last minute. It felt they were trying to make a quick buck out of us. Within 60 minutes or even less in all that hurry and abuse a huge bill was placed under our nose. The prices have been cranked up severely, the service was pathetic. We were embarrassed. It’s a pity, they had a chance to be nice but decided not to be. Their loss for some quick profit.

If you werent aware of the pedigree and prowess of the man behind the business, you might be forgiven for thinking on first impressions that Salaam Namaste, despite being located in an affluent part of London with plenty of history (including a Charles Dickons Museum a couple of roads down), was just another curry house setup to take advantage of said neighbourhood. In the end, however, were certain that youd walk out of here thinking otherwise. There were a number of dishes we had that certainly confirmed the reputation of the place and the talent behind the menu, Sabbir Karim.Only a chef with intimate knowledge of South Asian spices could create a biryani as good as the lamb Dumpukht we had, or succeed in achieving such balance in the strong spices that made up the intensely rich Dhaba Gosht.Although not everything had us doing cartwheels, the service here was, on the whole, efficient and attentive; and with the menu being changed every 6 months, Salaam Namaste has enough going for it to warrant a visit.Menu RecommendationDrink - Sweet LassiStarter - Jungle Style Char Grill Lamb KebabMain - Dhaba Gosht (with Nan)Dessert - Gajar Ka Halwa

Ill start off by saying the food was quite good, the ingredients fresh and flavors complex. The staff were also quite polite. However, the glasses were dirty and covered in dust, which I nearly drank from swimming with particulates. The establishment itself was quite clean so this was a bit shocking. The worst thing was that the price on the bill was not the price in the menu. When I asked the server, I was told it hadnt been updated. No effort was made to honor the price I had seen, or make things right whatever. That is theft. I cannot give this restaurant above a 3 until they update their menu. If you decide to try it out, make sure you are getting what you think you are getting.

Salaam Namaste is an outstanding, award winning restaurant offering dishes from all over India. The quality of the dishes and cooking are wonderful and the service is friendly and efficient. The manager Rohan is knowledgable and so enthusiastic about his restaurant and the food he serves. The Malabar Scollops were a perfectly light and gently spiced starter, while Persian Chicken mixed fruit and spice to perfection.I have been here several times and have never been disappointed. I recommend the experience to all without reservation.

The paneer starter was in a gloopy sauce that has been bought from a cash and carry and the fish curry was very over salted. Food was decent but the service was pathetic. Even before coming the waiter was bossing us around about how he needs to have order immediately or he wont come back as he is busy. The repercussions of their complete lack of control is pushed onto the customer.Given the food was fine we decided not to pay service charge which was met with lots of bickering and even cussing on the side of the waiter. After the fall out with the waiter, we were told by OpenTable, the platform through which we booked, that we were marked as having not arrived. Absolute joke of a retaliation.Definitely not coming back.Perhaps this was an unfortunate circumstance because the other two waiter around seemed fine but they did not serve us.

Salaam Namaste is a sleek, modern and contemporary little restaurant in Bloomsbury, specialising in modern Indian cuisine. The interior is filled with shades of beige and brown, with deep purples too. There are leather chairs and deep wooden tables, giving it a sophisticated, slightly fancy feel. The team is all passionate and very friendly, ready to give recommendations and checking in your meal. The drinks menu has a good selection of wine (not too extensive as to confuse) and cocktails, as well as a handful of beers and soft drinks. The cocktail part of the menu features ten cocktails, each inspired by Indian cuisine and refreshing flavours. There are also four mocktails for anyone avoiding alcohol. The Summer in Paris (£7.95), was a very sweet, tasty number. Ciroc, Cointreau elderflower and lychee juice give this cocktail the taste of sweets, quite literally. It’s delicious alongside the dishes. The Kiwi and Cucumber Martini (£8.95) was a refreshing choice for alongside dinner, with absolut vodka, cucumber, fresh kiwi, elderflower and lime. The mocktails were really juicy and tasty too! A great soft drink option instead of the usual diet coke, or sticking to water. The slushy kiwi (£5.95) with fresh kiwi and pineapple juice was great – the kiwi added juicy bursts to the pineapple juice. The vanilla berry (£5.95) was bursting with juicy flavours too, from the mix of fresh raspberry, blackberry, vanilla sugar, cranberry juice and apple juice. The vanilla really shines through. The food at Salaam Namaste focuses on traditional flavours, adding a contemporary twist. On the menu you will find a few classics, and plenty of curries, biryanis and grill dishes. There really is plenty to choose from, and we found the decision tough!Popadoms are obviously a must at an Indian. The ones at Salaam Namaste were slightly salty, and came with the most amazing tomato chilli dip, made with garlic and onions. It was incredible – apparently a popular one and can only be found here. . You can’t really go wrong with mango chutney and mint dip too, but it really is all about that chilli one.The Bombay Onion Bhaji (£4.95), a crisp fried onion cake with potatoes and mix vegetables, tamarind chutney, was delicious. It was soft in the middle, with a fab crispy coating. Fantastic with the tamarind chutney. We also tried some Tandoori lamb (part of the Tandoori Rattan @ £7.95) to start, which was a little tough, yet superbly spicy and aromatic. On to the mains, and the Tandoori Rubiyani Duck (£14.95) was a real winner. Gressingham duck breast marinated in yoghurt, cheese and carefully selected spices, charred in tandoor, it was served with roasted Tiger prawn, tangy potatoes and cucumber salad. The duck was so tender and deep in flavour, the king prawn was juicy, and the vegetables absolutely delicious. We have never even see a date & ginger naan (£2.95) before and so this was a must try. It was slightly sweet and sticky, and was great for dipping in, and mopping up the spicy tomato-based sauce from the duck. The Tandoori Ajwain Salmon (£14.95) was great – rhe salmon was marinated with yoghurt crushed ginger, garlic, mint, coriander & fresh stone ground spices and served with a plum tomato relish. The salmon was tender too, flaking easily. The coriander flavour shone through, and it was super tasty. There are also desserts, many pretty creative numbers, each tempting us, from the pistachio and mango kulfi to the mango and coconut brulee cheesecake. Pretty full, we tried the trio of ice cream, with cinnamon, tiramisu and coconut flavours. The ice creams tasted premium in quality and very creamy. It was a refreshing way to end the meal.Salaam Namaste is a beautiful, contemporary sleek Indian spot, with a modern menu – plenty of classics and even more twists. The service is very on the ball – we felt extremely looked after, as did each of the tables around us look so too. We had a great evening at this Indian restaurant in Bloomsbury.

Prior to our holiday I researched about great Indian restaurants close by where we were going to be staying in London, and Salaam Namaste came first on our list.We went for dinner with my family and cousin which I have not seen in years. It was a Monday we went and they were supposed to be open at 5:30pm but we came half an hour early. They let us stay inside and chit chatted, served us drinks rather than sending us away and come back. The place is not too big but very clean and cozy. The lighting is perfect and there is good enough space for each one of us and our food and condiments on our table. We had Chicken Tikka Masala, Lamb Rogan Josh, Dumpukht Lamb Biryani and Garlic Naan Bread. I just wished they had it served in big portions. Albeit, their food is very delicious! The dishes were neatly and appetizingly presented. On top of that, we were very pleased with their wonderful, very friendly and fast service. We didnt have to wait long to get our food. The manager was also very nice and accommodating. He came to our table and made sure we got everything we needed. The manager said that the meat they use is grass fed and free range from a ranch owned by Prince Charles. I think thats why the meat tasted good, apart from their chefs undoubtedly good skills of course and the spices they added to it.We will definitely be coming back when we visit again. I recommend this restaurant. They deserve full star.

Salaam Namaste is a delicious place hidden on a street by Corams Fields. The Laal Mass is the best, it is lamb covered in spicy sauce, and it goes very well with rice and naan, I love to make a sandwich with them. The staff are friendly and kind. I get that times are tough at the moment, but this is a relatively expensive curry-house, and if you pay £14 for a main, you expect the rice to come at a vaguely similar time.
