I always prefer to visit small not so famous places but I heard this place recently got some award. I know it is very well known name in restaurant industry but never got a chance to visit before.My only review is the place is clearly OVERHYPED. Every dish that I tried average or below average. Beef was stringy, baked Alaska was just a bad tooty fruty ice cream.Service was very slow, there was people waiting outside, still we got our bill more than 30min later of finishing our meal after asking three times!The Waiter who brought our bill stood there for tips, but tips are given because of service, and it just a bad hospitality.Total disappointment.

It was Saturday, but fortunately did not had to wait at all.The staff were polite, although we had to specifically ask them to provide/fill water.Would expect that to be a default from them considering the hype the restaurant receives.Service was prominent. Food took a little while to prepare, main course more so.We ordered 2 starters:1. Devilled crabs2. Tuna fish dip with breadBoth were very creamy and cheesy, I liked the crab better, fish dip was a tuna, mayo, salad mix and it was also good, it tasted a lot like the shwarma from Lebanese junction.For main course we ordered:1. The fish Wellington2. Minced pork steak3. Prawn bell meuniureThe fish again was extremely cheesy and filling, taste wasnt too great, the pork was disappointing, the prawn was delicious. We ordered four items - a pork cutlet, a mutton sizzler steak, a chicken pavlograd, and a fish Florentine.The fish and the mutton were quite nice but the taste went downhill with the pork cutlet and chicken pavlograd. The worst was the chicken which was in a sea of butter and was salty like the sea as well. Overall a nice place to visit to satisfy your continental food cravings. Service was reasonably fast and efficient as well.

It is well known for its continental dishes, and some of them are really a must try. Their sizzler is also quite good. They have a vast range of bar menu and desert options as well. Just that the prices are a little on the expensive side. Though that is acceptable for such an experience. Overall it is a nice place to go with friends and family.

This mouth-watering, heavenly delicious recipe known as Devilled crab, was popularized in 19thcentury in Ybor city of Tampa among the spanish/ Cuban) Italian immigrants. This is actually a result of a violent strike that took place in Tampa long time back.The cigar factories started to bloom, and the newly arrived immigrants were delivering new recipes in the bay area. With time many recipes washed away,whereas, Devilled crab endured time and became a token of significance for Tampa espeicially during the strike that lasted for 10 long months. The uneasy truce between the tabaqueros & the factory owners devastated the economic conditions. The tabaqueros started making croquetts with crab to feed their family. And gradually the part-time snackrecipe reached its stardom, crossed the oceans and made its royal entry in every restaurants menu card. My friend told me once that every disaster comes with an oppuntunity. Yes, it is true. Thats how we got Devilled crab. If you are a food lover and live in kolkata, then do trythis out in Mocambo.

This restaurant is all about Nostalgia and the old Kolkata vibe. The ambience directly takes you back to the olden days of Calcutta. Amazing continental food. A huge variety of dishes and each one as good as the other. Devilled Crab, Chateaubriand steak, chicken a la kiev, angels on horseback, chicken tetrazzini are some of my favourite orders here. Definitely worth a visit and highly recommended.

Food test is ok ok, over hyped restaurant over priced food items, fish sizzler was not at all good, they changed the entire dish and gave new fish sizzler that what I liked, over all, nice place if anyone likes to spend lot of money for lil quantity.

You will not be asked to vacant as long as there is food on your table.Contrary to popular believe, we liked the service and the servers were quite friendly with us. They even suggested the best dish we had there.Coming to the dishes:Mutton Sheekh Kebab: It was okay. The kebab was flavourful but dry. It was served with salad only and no chutney. Can be avoided.Devilled Crab: One of the most celebrated dish in Mocambo. It was truly amazing. The crab meat was mixed with some ingredients to make it creamy and then stuffed in crab shells. Then topped with cheese and baked. Must try!Tandoori Prawn: We wanted another starter dish with prawn and our server suggested this. It has now become one of our favourites. The prawn was cooked to perfection. Another must tryChicken Ala Kiev: Another one of the celebrated dish here. It was served with sauted carrots, peas, and potatoes and a small serving of tomato pasta. The amount of butter that is stuffed in the chicken is mind blowing. When you cut it expect an explosion. The dish was huge, I couldnt finish my share! We ordered bread rolls to wipe up the butter and this is a must with this dish. If you dont like butter stay away from this dish or else please order it!!Loved my experience here. I will definitely go back to try more dishes.

Mocambo known for its heritage and food. It has given Kolkata a number of dishes from the Russian era. The restaurant serves quality as well as quantity. Great food and great ambiance. I personally love the chicken ala kiev and the devilled crab. Must try the chicken steak as well. It has a number of dishes to try. One of the coziest places in town surely a good dating place must visit.

Mocambo was in my list for a very long time but then pandemic happened and we dont eat outside frequently anymore.Anyway this Wednesday we decided to give it a visit as it was our anniversary as well. The place is classy no doubt.We ordered devilled crab as usual and it was their signature dish too. I DIDNT LIKE IT! I dont know why almost everyone on internet suggests to try it but we didnt like it. Next we had Chicken A la Kiev. This was genuinely good. The Irish beef steak was also not bad and lastly we tried the baked alaska. We liked that too.Now the main thing is that we had so much expectation from this classy old restaurant but they disappointed us! First of all portion wise I would say most of the dishes were overpriced. The hype the created about Devilled crab was not at all good. Though rest was good but nothing too extraordinary.I would say you can give it a try if you want to. My expectation was high but failed me.Anyway staffs are taking care of all the measurements during covid thats a plus!

Have heard a lot about this place. Went out for lunch. Food was good. Quality and quantity both were great. Only downside I felt was the fact, the place looked a bit clumsy. Was a bit over crowded since it was a weekend. Asked one of the mangers to get us a menu card. Took one from the next table which had water over it. Looked like they were not accustomed to manage such a big crowd.Must try Baked Alaska.

All time favourite place... But the food is not like before specially the Devils crab which made it famous by all means. There has been a decline in quality and hospitality. We were asked for water by the person serving us but it never reached our table. It was my first time there with my wife and 1 yr old daughter. The person waiting us was too arrogant to be bothered and answer any queries that we had about the menu. Food was too damn salty. We had to ask several times for the bill. Pretty sure the place was meant to have some class but the people working there prove otherwise. The only decent person was the attendant by the door who welcomed us in warmly.

Mocambo was on my bucket list for a very long time. So um few days ago I got my chance to visit it after a very long time. There is always a big queue. But though we managed to get in because my friend had some good relations. The food was really great. Quality and quantity was on point. I loved the sizzler , mocambo is basically known for its sizzler. So it was fantastic . I tried the chicken mueiner I dont exactly remember the spelling. But it was very creamy and it had some potato shreaded crunch to it. And I also tried the chicken soup which was just beyond my expectations. And lastly the mango mousse pudding which was bomb.

It was a nice experience. The service was very fast. Food was delicious. Overall dining experience was nice.Need attention- If you want to dine at Mocambo, you have to reach atleast 1-1:30 hours early, specially if you are planning to do lunch or dinner. Else you have to stand and wait outside.Advice- Should start pre- booking system. It will reduce chaos outside.

The overall experience was amazing, right from the starting the way they greet you at the entrance till the end they serve you. The entire experience was crazy, the way they are cautious about social distancing and always there for customer service is something we don’t find in most of the restaurants nowadays.My personal favourite were grilled mushroom with prawns and chicken steak sizzler do give it a try guys..will recommend both for friends and family dine in.

I had a lovely experience at Mocambo. The soothing ambience coupled with good food ensures that you have a great time here. The waiting time is a downside as you often have to wait for 20-25 minutes before you get a table. However, I guess that just shows how amazing the place is. A wait of 20 minutes can be easily managed for the delicious food you get here. Attaching a few pictures of the dishes I had tried. All of them were lipsmacking! Highly recommended!

The food was not good at all. We ordered Chicken Chipolata and it was cold. The sauce was tasteless. Sausages were not fresh, it tasted blant as well. The bacon was okay.The prawn cocktail was okay.We also ordered a fried chicken and the chicken was undercooked. We could feel it while were chewing it.I have had continental food before, I thought of trying some in this well known restaurant and it was not a good experience.Moreover, when we told one of their senior waiters that the fried chicken was undercooked, he denied the fact and said this is how we serve it.Well, we wasted our money.Didnt expect this from such a famous restaurant.

If you are looking for a dining experience but not sure what cuisine you would want to have, then you should just go to Mocambo. Their menu is so varied that if you want to be experimental you can do so or if you are on a continental mood then also its the right place or if you are in a comfort food mode then also this place is great. The best part is all the flavours are equally amazing. The only constructive criticism for the place is, because they have huge customer inflow the staffs arent able to manage the orders. When the food is served its not steaming hot.

Nice ambience. We went over there on 26th Jan. It was crowded but well maintained with proper safety measures. As usual foods are really good, we tried few authentic dish like fish Diana.

Ambience is very good, seating on one wing is very distanced and compartmentalized. That is a plus point because it gives the feeling of a private dining experience. Food is okay but not exceptional, I would rate it 4.

Mocambo is more of a nostalgia than for the food itself. Its one of the oldest established food joints in Kolkata especially for continental foods. The food is good the staff is nice though the wait time for may vary, for us it was a bit on the long side but we didnt mind. Safety norms and social distancing is observed according to guidelines. Staff wears face shields and gloves and noticed that they are sanitizing the tables and chairs after the patron leaves.Food is good and enjoyable. One of the worst overrated restaurant in Kolkata. The steak wasnt authentic steak, it was a bad cut of meat and presentation was very ugly. Cabbage leaf sticking out and the chicken was smelling bad like it was rotten. I believe they kept it in the freezer for a very long time. I almost threw up! I didnt eat after couple of bites

We ordered a chicken Sizzler and chicken supreme (chefs special). That was just excellent.On the other hand, the souffle was quite disappointing. It was a mousse, nothing near the neighborhood of a souffle. This Restaurant has been A-one, didnt see this coming. The baked Alaska was great though.

Went there some days ago with my friends..They r maintaining all the safety and sanitisation guideline of government- thermal checking and hand sanitisation was done at the entry gate...But we had to wait for a long to get our seat ...Ambiance will give u a old calcutta vibe .Seating arrangement was very cozy ..But service could be a bit faster ..We a group of 5 people order mutton ,beef,chicken garlic steak and barbqued chicken along with a A-la-kiev.Steaks were damn good ... Finely grounded meat along with spices and herbs was just perfect ,however the beef steak was a bit hard and the roasted  chicken could have had more portion size .A-la-kiev had very good amount of butter inside of the thick meat coating but it was over salty..

Each and every item I tried was so delicious and filling. Not too expensive. I just completely love. Do try Fish A LA DIANA .

Continentals foods are great.Chicken Munia with white Sauce as a starrer and Deep Tuna good combination.. As well good taste. Onion fry made little different taste of Biriyani.I like their Desert section most.. Its really attractive form looks and good in taste. In my menu Backed Alaska and Cold Everest.All are pocket friendly.

Its a place loved by non-vegetarians, heaven they say! Being a vegetarian, choices are less.The food is delicious though.Theyve maintained the menu and also the taste of what its always been.One cant expect any change in the items thats there. Visited this legendary place last week after a long time. Not much has changed in terms of the mandatory waiting time on weekends, the courteous staff and cosy sitting. Was good to see that they have taken good measures for COVID-induced distancing by placing partitions between tables and all waiters were wearing masks and face shields.Coming to the food, tried some of their signature dishes and came away very impressed with the prawn cocktail, chicken supreme, fish a-la diana and crab claws. All the items used fresh ingredients and tasted awesome. Also, baked alaska is a must try for dessert. Overall, a grand luncheon that only one of the Kolkata elites can provide!

One of the oldest and authentic continental food joint in park street area. Recommended to visit in group. Would suggest not to take any hard alcohol so that you can enjoy the actual taste. Wine can be taken as some dish contains combinations of cheese and cream.

There was a large crowd on the day we decided to visit the restaurant. We had to wait for over an hour to get in and have our lunch. The ambience is very nice, with proper social distancing and sanitization norms being maintained. What to say about the food? I have never tasted continental food as light and flavourful as this. We had the signature dish of this restaurant, devilled crab. It was fried, but so light and less oily. We also had sizzlers, one of fish, and the other of chicken. And for the main course, we had Beckty Newburg, another signature dish. For dessert, we chose Chocolate Delight. Basically a triple layered sundae, it had chocolate ice cream, pineapple slices, and nuts on top. The service time is a bit long, and one may have to wait for quite sometime to get served. The price is a bit high, since this is an upmarket restaurant. Price of most dishes are upward of ₹300/-. Pocket pinch for two? Around 1000 -1200/-, depending on the dishes you have.

We have ordered chicken pavlograd modified version of chicken à la Kiev and mixed meat risotto, both tastes so good. Specially chicken pavlograd.

This was one of my favorite places however af post lockdown visit I am taking it out of my favorites. Food quality has degraded, ordered chicken lollipop, murgh musallam, garlic naan and chicken fried rice; out of which only the strater was good, chicken was fresh and juicy, naan was fine and besides that the other two items ingredients were not at all fresh, it was stiff hard to chew..... In short major disappointment!

Bad service... the waiter brought the drinks by holding the glasses with his hands...no tray, no decency at all. The order was taken in a very irritable manner as though he was doing us a favour. Fish finger and the kebabs were good and tasty but the tutti fruity was a total failure. Only raw bananas and raw papaya in a glass of scanty vanilla ice cream. Never try tutti fruity here.No longer the dignified and royal Mocambo that I knew in the past, very ordinary restaurant now. Disappointed

I have visited here twice. Before and after Covid.Pros -• amazing food• best ambiance• properly mainted social distance, few tables are seperated by a glass divider.• quick serving• Santizied place• staffs are using all protective measuresCons-• The only thing i will say, If you a 1st timmer, just ask the staff about the dish you are going to order, like- what the dish is about! The name of the dishes are not regular ones. Or, Google is always there to help you out!(Note - a bit pricy for normal people, but its totally worth it. You wont regret)I will recommend to try sizzlers(any one will do), and drinks(they are soooo good, I must say)

Experience was average. Just because of Continental No spicy dishes are available.In case of Chilli chicken Chicken was not soft at all.Even in beef steak meet was hard. Really Hard.Overall experience 7/10
