Natural beauty 😍

Its a peaceful place except for weekends and early evenings. The walking path apart from the central area on either sides is not walkable and needs to be flattened out. Leaving the central entrance all other entrances are peacefull and less crowded on all days. The lake edges are often misused for washing clothes and swimming wherein the notice says strict action would be taken violating laws. The place needs more to keeping it clean beyond the central entrance. Infact the entire Kalamba area lacks cleanliness and too much plastic waste can be seen on internal roads that lead to the lake.

Now the old Glory is lost due to deforestation around the lake.

This is an awesome place for Bird watching place. Every year Many Species of birds migrate here from Europe, North Asia! As it is outside of city. It makes good environment for the birds to live freely! Still there is a need of spreading awareness for the conservation of this ecosystem. Good place to hangout out of busy city life! I have many memories attached to this place. A silent place where you can just spend some in the evening or early morning.

Kalamba Lake is located around 5 KM away from the famous Mahalaxmi Temple, on the Kolhapur-Gargoti road. It has special importance for the city, this lake was built to provide clean water to Kolhapur City. In rainy season stream comes from Katyayani Hill to fill this lake with water. This lake fulfills the demands of drinking water of large area of city. In the lake there is a small temple, which looks beautiful. Kalamba Lake attracts many birds during the winter season.It is not a tourist’s attraction but it is a best place for morning and evening walk and also for hangout with your family & friends. In the morning and evening both the times this place looks very beautiful and energetic, refreshes our mind. In rainy season when the lake overflows it looks very beautiful, to see this wonderful scenery most of the people visit this lake in rainy season.
