The temple is 57 ft. long , 37 ft. in width , 77 ft. in hight .... built in black basault .... built by Sardar Ranoji Shinde of Gwalher in 1730It is said that in entient time Ambabai ( also called Mahaxmi ) of Klhapur was fighting with demon Ratnasur .... at that time she asked the help of Kedarnath ( that is of Lord Shiva ) so he came all the way from himalya with his gana ( gana means his army ) and defited demon Ratnasura . Ambabai ( that is Mahalaxmi ) asked him to stay in this south area for the protection of all peoples of south & he stayed there on the mountain fourteen km away from Kolhapur . As he defited demon Ratnasur the place is also called Wadi Ratnagiri .There are other temples of Kalbhirawa & Mata Yamai devi near Jyotiba templePresently due to kovid - 19 all temple are closed for peoples to visit .

Jotiba temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas. This is also called Kedarnath and Wadi Ratnagiri. Mythology says, Jotiba helped Mahalaxmi in her fight with the demons. He founded his kingdom on this mountain. He belongs to the Nath cult. He was born in the hands of Vimalmbuja, the wife of the sage Pougand, on Chaitra Shukla 6.It is situated to the north of Kolhapur in the deep, surrounded by green mountains and black precipices. The original temple was build in 1730 by Navajisaya. It is 330′ high from sea-level. The interior is ancient and the idol is four-handed. There are other temples and Light-towers. On Chaitra Poornima a big fair is held, when lacs of devotees come with tall (Sasan) sticks. Due to scattering of ‘Gulal’ the whole mountain is turned pink.Sunday is sacred to Jotiba. In the last few years much improvement has been made by the people and on the government level.

Shri Jyotiba or Kedareshvar is incarnation of Bramha, Vishnu, Mahesh and part of sage Jamadgni’s anger; and shine of 12 sun. It is another story that Adishakti created another set of Tridev i.e. Bramha, Vishnu and Mahesh which was 100 times more powerful than original Tridev to down their ego; when her motive become successful she ordered her newly created trideva to come again when she will call for her help. When Kolhasura & his army was ruling at karvir kshetra with full of unjust mehods Mahalaxmi decided to go back karvir at this time she called the trideva & they appeared in hands of Mata Vimalambuja, in the form flame.History of Temple :There was a small temple in the place of today’s Jyotiba’s big temple. The original temple is built by the devotee named Naavji from village kival near Karad. In 1730, Maharaja Ranoji Shinde of Gwalior renovated the original place in a grand place. This temple is simple and has been constructed with fine black basalt stone. The other (second) kedareshvar temple is particularly standing without pillars. This temple is build about 155 years ago means in 1808 by Doulatrao Shinde. There is chopdai Temple present in between Kedarling and kedareshvar temple which is built by Pritirao Chavan, Himmatbahadur in 1750. So particularly this is a group of three temples. The 4th Temple of Goddess Rameshwari has built in 1780 by Malji Nikam, Panhalakar. In front of Kedareshvar, on a small square platform, there are two nandi’s in black stone. This is also installed by Daulatrao Shinde. On the east side of temple there is a Goddess Satvai facing towards east. On west side of temple Shree Ramling is situated facing towards east. At five to six places of temple wall, the veergal stones are fixed.Shri Kedarnath has established twelve Jyotirlingas around Jyotiba Mountain, so he is also called as Jyotirling. In order to establish the twelve Jyotirlingas, they first established Badrikedar ling in the remembrance of their original place in Himalaya so it is called as Kedarling too.:- Sanket Sudam Patil

Its a beautiful temple of Lord Jyotiba on the top of Jyotiba Hill. Its a mini hill station. The temple is big and located at a beautiful spot. Theres rush here on weekends and on special occasions. Parking space is available for vehicles at a distance away from the temple, from where you have to walk to the temple. The staff is kind and helpful. You can also enter the main temple inside for doing Abhishek. Its very well managed, so that all people can get Darshan properly. There are many shops near the temple from where you can buy all the essentials required for Darshan. The temple is kept very clean by the staff. There are 2-3 ways by which you can climb the Jyotiba Hill. Roads to the top of hill are very good and view from the top is just amazing. In monsoons, all the mountain ranges are lush green and look beautiful. There are trees around where you can sit in the shade and have lunch with your family. Very nice place. Must visit.Thank You.

Great Experience..Parking available.Jyotiba Temple, Kolhapur OverviewThe beautiful temple of Kolhapur, known as the Jyotiba Temple lies near the village of Ratnagiri in Maharashtra. The temple is constantly laden with rang which translates to colour, implying the colour used to play Holi. This is because the gulal is offered to Lord Jyotiba as a token of sincerity by the pilgrims. The glorious temple is built for Lord Jyotiba as its name suggests, who was believed to be an embodiment of three different deities. It is believed that this temple should be visited after visiting the Mahalaxmi Temple. Standing 3124 feet above sea level, the view from the temple is beautiful and breathtaking. The serene environment along with the divinity of the structure gives a feeling of peace and calm to all the pilgrims and visitors.Jyotiba Temple was constructed by Ranoji Shinde in the year 1730. The striking temple is believed to be approximately 55 feet in length, 37 feet in width and 77 feet in height. The interior is elegant and straightforward while the exterior includes a long flight of stairs that pilgrims need to climb to reach the main temple. This climb is of about 100 steps and is lined with some shops. The shops vary from ones selling coconuts and flowers, to ones that sell CDs and pictures of Lord Jyotiba. The most prominent festival of this magnificent temple is celebrated in the Hindu months of Chaitra and Vaisakha. They occur on the full moon night during this month, thereby being named Chaitra Poornima. This is the annual festival when all the devotees throw and play with gulal. The entire hill of the Jyotiba Temple is then covered with gulal, making it a beautiful sight and a great festival to experience.Time Required: 1-2 hrsTimings: 5:30 AM - 10:30 PMEntry Fee: No entry fee
