My partner and I booked our anniversary date night here on June 26th after a recommendation of my close friend.We had the set menu as well as fresh oysters and we were so impressed!All of our dishes came out at perfectly timed intervals and all plated so delicately. Our favourites included the Pickled cucumber, Raw beef with walnuts, and Baby Barramundi with kohlrabi.Our wait staff for the night were very quick to attend to our wine top ups :-)

We had such a great experience here last night! The bartender Josh was incredibly helpful with navigating us through the wine menu and shared some great wine knowledge along the way. We ordered some snacks at the bar and were blown away by the upscale quality of the food. Looking forward to returning for their $50 Sunday lunch.

Absolutely incredible grub and drinks, service was attentive and not pushy at all. Hats off to the whole team for delivering an exceptional experience! Definitely add the scallops to chefs menu.

What a delightful place - elegant yet not stuffy, classy yet not pretentious.The server was friendly and attentive, the wine he selected for us was fantastic. The food itself was a highlight - everything tasted great (even the stuff I wouldnt usually care for). Get the flatbread and save room for dessert.

Bar Liberty’s Sunday Lunch would have to be Melbourne’s best kept secret. At only $45pp it’s such incredible value. When travelling to Melbourne, Bar Liberty is always on the list. Can never fault the service and the offering is bang on. Perfect spot to stop in for a wine and snack, settle in for the night in a cosy corner or enjoy a boozey Sunday lunch as we often do.

Had a great experience at Bar Liberty for their Sunday lunches. Great value set menu in a casual space. Hospitality was fitting for the atmosphere and drinks were great (cocktails, wines). The optional dishes were some of the best, especially the clams.

The service was so good-natured and stellar that multiple tables in the room were saying how great it was. Olivia (our waitress) was indeed amazing and we had a great evening!

Loved the food and ambiance here! Bar staff super friendly on arrival. Wait staff very attentive, although felt a little impersonal/cold (possibly because it was the end of a Saturday night). I didnt like my wine, but thats not going to put me off returning, because theres a whole curious wine list for me to try! Thinking of trying the Sunday brunch too, but overall love this local :D 5 stars!

This lived up to the review posted in the good food guide and more. Small setting, but intimate, and appears to give waiters more opportunity to heap their attention upon you. Service was excellent, food fabulous, I really don’t think they could have done anything better. Recommend you give this establishment a red hot go.

Went here for a set Sunday lunch which was really lovely. The meal was nicely put together with a thoughtful selection of dishes and the service was lovely. We sat in the front bar area which lacked a little bit of ambiance but from what I could see of the other tables on offer and possibly upstairs there looks like there might be some cosy spots to enjoy a meal and while away an afternoon.

My wife and I booked for Sunday lunch and could t have hoped for a better experience. The food was great but for me the highlight was the amazing range of drinks.We enjoyed some really amazing natural wines but also sampled some great Japanese sake and a crazy good Japanese yuzo drink.

We came for our 3 year anniversary a few weeks ago and it was amazing! ALL the food was good. The bread blew my mind! The pippies made me drool for days and I still dream about the pasta. We booked out the upstairs room for a group of 10 people. The waiter was attentive and knew the wine list well. We were a tricky group with several people requiring special diet choices. The kitchen was able to accommodate without any noticeable difficulty. Food is delicious and creative. Extensive well designed drinks list, even includes a section including some cult status sour beer bottles.

Absolutely phenomenal from start to finish. Would recommend to anyone looking to spend an evening enjoying the masterpieces that come out of that kitchen. We didn’t want to order too much but quickly learned, there’s no such thing as too much here, we couldn’t stop eating dessert no matter how full we were. Every staff member was attentive, helpful, class all around. Would go back in a second, next time we’re back again from Canada.

To be honest the food is good and the wine selection is amazing when it comes to natural wine. Though, the service is distracted and missing the moment. To order a $90 bottle of wine and watch it be opened in front of another table on the other side of the restaurant is not personal or part of an enjoyable wine experience. Also for the male waitor to be referring to us two woman as girls , sweaties and darlings is masogonistic and not very sophisticated. Its unfortunate because the food is really yum.

Nice wine and service but after a $150 bill left hungry! Food is not designed to share! I’m not a person who heavily or like large plate sizes but $32 for 1 small leg of duck on a very large plate is just not on. Stopping off for something else on the way home!

Friendly, prompt, helpful service, even late at night. Food and wine lists exceptional. Back room cosy for quiet groups, but quite raucous (and fun) when we were there.

Wine nerd friends told us to come and we were very satisfied. Got a last minute reservation at the bar and really enjoyed the friendly staff and the food was exceptional, in particular a burrata with some sort or devilishly good soy reduction and the cucumber!

Set menu $65pp is just massively overpriced. So is the wine. All a bit disappointing.

Was really looking forward to coming here for the first time for my birthday. Was pretty disappointed however as the food was INCREDIBLY salty, to the point where myself and my two friends could not finish everything. When asked if we want dessert the waitress suggested the salted chocolate and I said I couldn’t possibly eat anymore salt, to which she laughed and replied ‘yeh you’ll get that here’.Also when trying to pick a wine we described what we felt like and the wine suggested to us was not what we wanted or very nice at all. I rarely write reviews but needed to express how salty the food was and for the price the kitchen needs to calm it down on the salt as it completely spoilt what would have been otherwise great food.

Do yourself a favour...GO... Sample the delicious morsels and wash it down with whatever they recommend and you will have yourself a delectable and memorable evening..YUM ✨

Wow. Booze, food, fit-out & service all outstanding. From their world globe drinks cart that opens in half to reveal its wears, to cured scallops in fermented buttermilk & greens this was an excellent evening. The best part though is the casual nature of the experience despite the fine-dining details.

This place was amazing! The food was excellent and kind of quirky, the staff were great and they have some awesome wines available. Get the crisps with dip.

I found this place on a list of best degustation menus in Melbourne and was excited to take my overseas guest here for a taste of what culinary treats Melbourne has to offer. We have previously enjoyed Hell of the North and Scopri and were looking to show her a similar experience. Unfortunately, Bar Liberty didnt live up to these expectations. While the wine list is very diverse and well selected, the food was not memorable and the service was bordering on poor. The atmosphere was OK, but overall I was not impressed and would not suggest this location for what is likely a rare tasting menu oriented night out.

A sophisticated wine list complimented by a seasonal menu. Our table tried an assortment of dishes but the Stracciatella, Koo Wee Rup Cured Kingfish and the Geraldton Wax & Kohlrabi which were absolute standouts. Very impressed with how the evening went and how well our group was looked after.

Wines, food, this place has everything and does it well including awesome staff! Feel like a good wine and some delicious refined dishes, this is the place to go. Flatbread with kraut and chicken jus, Goolwa Pipis and Brown Ale cake were our favourites, but we had almost everything on the snack menu and it was all amazing :-)

I visited Bar Liberty with my wife, and really enjoyed the place . If you are after a regular bar with lots of alcohol, this is not the place for you. They have a small but exquisite dinner menu. I had raw beef with caramelised onion, and despite how that might sound, it was delicious. I had sourdough flatbread with butter curd and a macadamia and wildflower honey tart for dessert all of which was amazing!

A great local wine bar (one of Melbourne’s best) with mainly but not exclusively well chosen natural wines and delicious snacks. Their 36 month Comte & glass of Vin Jaune is a winner!

Bar liberty is amazing. Featuring an exciting booze list and food that is as pretty as it tastes. Service is also top notch and educated. But now the sun is out I will be spending a lot of time in their back courtyard they call Drinkwell, eating fresh Falafel and salads with all house made ingredients and drinking on trend beers.

Fantastic wine, food, decor, service, and reasonable prices. We opted for the $60 set menu which was a great mix of vegetarian, meat, seafood and desert and there is a great selection of wines available by the glass or bottle. A great meal and will definitely be back soon!
