This is one of the amazing restaurant i have ever been to, it’s look tiny and chill from the front. The weather is great, sunny and we are sitting under the shed. Sooo cool~food was amzing, the entree is Anchovy with basil oil and egg on bread, yummy~Roasted lamb is tender and full of flavours, and the potato salad are nice as a side. It’s pretty refreshing.
Never disappoints for a continental breakfast. Well done and love the consistency and quality. People are nice too! Wish the trading hours were longer but it keeps it a weekend treat for me.
One of the best wine bars in Melbourne. A remarkable wine list for a flawless menu. Situated in the charming backstreet of Fitzroy, housed in an intimate bluestone.
The coffee here absolutely blew me away. Great little coffee shop to sit in alone or with a friend, friendly staff, and its on a quieter street.
Excellent service. The food was very well made and tasty. Portions are smallish and prices are rather on the high end, but worth it.
An unaccommodating service with the potential for quality food and wine. Aloof and absent wait staff unwilling to accommodate those evidently most willing to experience their service. After many great experiences here, I disappointedly wouldnt recommend this as a high priority in Fitzroy. Consider looking elsewhere.
Beware: if you are vegan and/or lactose intolerant then they do not want your business. Full cream milk is the only option in the coffees here. Staff are pretty rude about the whole thing too. We left without ordering and went to one of the many other alternative cafes in this area making decent coffee.
My absolute favourite place to come and sit with a wine and just enjoy the atmosphere, the staff are genuine for a fancy place and the cakes are exceptional! I bring everyone here, even my mum loved it lol
We came here for lunch on a recommendation and what a great choice, we had morning tea at Lune so not overly hungry but that changed on looking at the options, lots of great food combinations and punched with flavour. The portions are not big just right. Everything was great.
My partner and I love this place and its up there with Bar Liberty, Neighbourhood, as our fave Melbourne bars. Great food and exceptional wine list whilst the on street seating is delightful. I questioned at first why they would not have a menu of wines by the glass but have come to appreciate this quirk and the reasons - they are very regularly changing all of the wines, plus no by the glass menu means one is compelled to engage with the knowledgeable staff and learn about the wines, many of which are natural, skin-contact etc
Cool, cosy and quintessentially Italian. Great coffee and hot chocolate
Worst service I have had in Melbourne. Simply rude and cold. Food and coffee were both good (although no non dairy milk and no takeaway is a bold move in 2021). Given the number of amazing cafes in Fitzroy, we won’t be rushing back.
Great wines and seasonal menu! Perfect spot for a date or after work drink. Excellent staff and cute outdoor seating
Small corner quarter in a quite-ish back street. Simple menus selection not weighted towards the vegetarian or vegan. But tasty. Robust wine selection and knowledgeable staff. Worth a stop. Would be ideal on a breezy sultry summer night.
The Napier Quarter team are legends! Outstanding food, awesome wine selection and great coffee. Perfect spot if you appreciate quality produce prepared with skill by a passionate team.Of we could give you 10 stars we would guys. Keep up the great work!
Delicious breakfast reasonably priced as we expected it to be much more, Great atmosphere and friendly people.
Easy to get carried away with the wines here. Lovely food for a mid week lunch
Napier Quarter is definitely one of my favourite places to visit in Melbourne. The quality of produce they use is exceptional and the ambience is wonderful. Everything I’ve consumed at Napier Quarter has been absolutely sublime. Thank you for having me and I will continue to visit.
Thought I would revisit the venue after a decade long hiatus. Only had coffee and a pastry. Stopped going as they started serving Coffex brand, not my fav. Both were fine. New owners I assume. Compact inside, cramped particularly when raining. Staff were fine. I understand that they don’t do takeaway coffee. No knowledge of their dinner menus. For me, for coffee only. It was fine.
Poor customer service, lady that served me was very rude and unwelcoming. They dont offer chai latte, and no alternative milk options, they offer full cream milk only.
Food was good. All Staff were friendly. but they over charged like 21$. One staff just said “It’s on the house” when they served small snack. we didn’t order or ask about that.It was on the bill even one menu what we haven’t eaten.I have no idea why the did like that. becauz we are aisian? No english people?I hope they never do this again.
The scenery is good and the air is good. Free coffee, tea. Theres a bar in there. It is an ideal place to go.
No alternative milk options and very obnoxious staff.Do yourself a favour and go somewhere else for your coffee/breakfast/lunch.
Asked for an espresso. They suggested I stand at the counter and drink it rather than sit down. I told them I would take a seat. They dont offer take away. Coffee was good - service was very poor. Wont rush back considering the number of great cafes in the area.
Dreamy food and wines and lovely setting to sit outside on a nice day. One of my favourite spots for a nice lunch and wine in Melbourne.
Very nice spot, definitely coming back
Went for breakfast, simple and super tasty
Lovely wine bar with a great selection of wines by the glass, gourmet snacks and more substantial offerings. Top this all off with excellent, knowledgeable service, what more do you need!
A slice of Paris in Fitzroy. Fantastic friendly service and food to spend time with. Anchovies on Toast, figs with Straciatella drizzled with a beautiful olive oil and blackberries with mozzarella basil and dill, are all must have small plates. Nice small selection of wines and beer, with the Tasmanian sour ale something very different, you can taste the soil and minerality of the Tasmanian water through this beer. Finish with the lemon and olive oil cake with lavender cream, a wicked long black and what my wife called the best tea in Melbourne, nothing fancy just perfectly brewed. Sit outside on the pavement and enjoy one of the best parts of Melbourne. The croissant bread and butter pudding is perfection on a plate
Always great.Food, service, drinks.And sake!
Divine food and coffee.Great service with a smile and the location is super useful! The homemade produce available at the moment is really tasty!
Lunch at Napier Quarter today was wonderful. Delicious food, great coffee and really good service.
We shared 3 dishes and everything was perfection... Such a great dinning experience. We 1st had the calamari, then the asparagus and duck yolk and finished with the pasta with broad beans, ricotta and lemon. Everything was amazing, well cooked and well presented. If you want something simple but cooked to perfection, then look no more thats the place to go.We wish we were living in Melbourne to go more often, that would be a local favorite for use for sure.
Expensive minimalist portions.
Cute spot for a coffee
Although the food always looks very enticing in Instagram, the wait staff really let the hard working kitchen down. I wasn’t terribly impressed with the service today. I felt like we were imposing on the wait staff, that we were somehow in the way of their cleaning and tidying. The wine waiter was just a little bit too condescending. There were only 20 customers but we still had to over-reach to get the attention of staff, even though we were literally under their noses, seated very close to the kitchen nd the bar, in order to get coffee after our lunch.
Next level pickles!
Chilled vibe for a wine a catchup
A simply beautiful spot serving the best wines and an evolving, always interesting menu.
We went here 2 nights in a row it was that good. If youre reading any of the reviews about poor service theyre absolutely wrong and the people posting them are miserable excuses for humans; and probably from Sydney. The food is top notch and the fact that they serve a seasonal menu using only locally produced and sources ingredients is wonderful. But the way the Chef has curated the dishes is simply stunning. All this would be fine just on its own but the wine list, OH THE WINE LIST! And Harry and the team just know how to pair their amazing selection with whatever you eat
This place is interesting. The food and wine is pricey but tasty. Its in an interesting part of Melbourne where the usual is renovated apartments, markets, group houses, and good cafés and restaurants. So, if you are wanting to meet someone to stop a while and chat, this place could be good. Mind you, having said that, Ive only been here once.
Love everything ....food wine vibe
An unpleasant experience. Very rude owner. Will not go back
Delish
Beautiful cosy little wine bar with friendly staff and great dining. A popular place with locals to sit, drink good wine and chat away. We had a lovely fresh pasta with zucchini, cheese dill and salmon roe. we also had a delicious broccolini salad with nut butter accompanied by a french Gamay. Top quality and lovely all round. highly Recommended.
If you are out for good wine, food and a nice chat this is definitely the place ..cosy ,friendly staff..just the best!
Only dairy milk available for coffee. A bit behind the times stance considering the reality of consumer needs today.
Tiny menu & space. Beautiful seasonal produce, sometimes execution not spot on, but still very very good. Very impressed that they have the confidence to run such a small menu, and have no take away coffees. Good on them for sticking to their concept...
Cute place for date nights
Had a lovely experience. The staff (I think it was Harry) was very helpful in suggesting wines and food and made the experience even more enjoyable!
This is my local and I absolutely adore it. Pre work espresso, lunch dates, work meetings or intimate dinner dates the Napier Quarter is the perfect spot. I love that they stopped serving using take away coffee cups and that their outside chairs face street 💜
Cute, small, and very friendly cafe and restaurant with a great cheese and charcuterie selection, plus delicious entrees. We had the cheese plate, pasta, and raspberry-lemon cake. Everything was delicious!
Popped down to the new local for a wine and really loved it. The atmosphere was lovely. The wine list short but solid and was well attended to by wait staff.Only (big) downer for me was the glassware. Im not a snob but I really like a nice wine glass- especially at a wine bar.
Really gorgeous location, beautiful space, great coffee, anchovy breakfast is delicious and the wine list is amazing. Sadly all the good is undone by the very generous side of attitude and arrogance that comes free with every visit. Unless you’re particularly interested in being made to feel like a total imposition don’t bother. Until yesterday I’ve persisted with NQ because I want to support local and I won’t judge a business on one server having an off day. I get that some shifts are tough. But the main FOH guy at this joint (the owner?) is just outright rude and inhospitable - EVERY time. It’s a massive shame for a place that really should just be great.
Great cheese and olives with gluten Free options. Bar has a great vibe, service is kind and welcoming, sometimes a little forgetful. Thank you for having us :)
Thank you for fitting us in the busy night last week. My husband and I had a wonderful time there. We were impressed by great hospitality from Aidan (if my memory correct) and the wine he recommended were all spot on. We will see you again soon!
Lovely good, great range of wine and friendly staff
Was always a good place till they decided to stop serving take away coffees.I am always on the run, and happy to pay more for one if they want to add the cup cost to the coffee but seriously it’s 2019 in Melbourne.Get biodegradable cups if you are worried about the environment .
Sunday 2pm few weeks ago: wrong dish was brought out. We pointed it out and got told, just eat it while the correct dish is being cooked. No thanks, an apology would have been nice, not an instruction of just eat it. Bill time, wrong amount was charged, we had to walk back to get it fixed. Money was quickly dropped on my palm, but no apology given. Well, say no more. Food was alright. Wine was alright. But plenty of local wine bars with far more friendly staff.
Wait staff were extremely unprofessional, and unwilling to offer any kind of service. Trying to wave someone to take an order was an ordeal.
We popped into this bar for coffee & a bombolini this morning but will definitely be back for breakfast another day. The wine, cocktail & bar food all look good for nighttime treats as well. Cool music you can still talk over, pleasant & efficient staff all add up to a very relaxed ambience just right for this lovely old building.
Spent $26 on a plate claiming to be “a selection of our finest artisanal producers” came out with 3 slices of mortadella some flavourless cheese and pickled vegetables. Embarrassing that places like this masquerade as fine food when they are clearly just a cafe with under skilled staff serving out of date food. 2 wines a bad plate and $& bread later. $60 I could have some good food. Will never go there again!
No takeaway coffee? Thanks for nothing you guys for not providing coffee for this caffeine needing parents who brought in their own reusable cups. When youre out and about with a baby you cant always stop and enjoy a 5 minute coffee in house. My wife and I regularly take 5 minutes quiet time with our son; reading a book, playing with him, feeding him, cuddling him. But thats not good enough for Napier Quarter; youre probably running late somewhere or baby gets upset or babys asleep in the car.The coffee across the road at Duke of Kerr was fabulous and it didnt come with a side order about how to spend 5 minutes quiet time.
No alternative milk options
Wonderful find tucked into a charming neighborhood. Great wine, delicious food, and incredibly charming staff. Cannot recommend enough.
Everything that was great about Pearl has been refined here. Simple, delicious and high quality food. If I ate the egg and anchovy every morning Id be a much happier person!
Lovely cafe to visit on a lazy Sunday, and nicely located off the main streets.
A really bad experience, stopped from taking a free table by staff until they finished what they were doing ... pretentious and inflexibleNo skim milk or almond, only full cream and bonsoy, a lame offering for a spot in the heart of Fitzroy. Dont come if you just want a simple easy coffee experience
Staff are helpful, friendly and knowledgable - just what you want in a local wine bar. Its not cheap for dinner though - not somewhere Id go regularly due to the price of the dishes. $26 for a small plate of pasta is up there - and it would have been great to have some bread to soak up all that delicious oily sauce left behind on the plates. Otherwise food was delicious. I recommend going here for the wine and then eating only after youve had too many wines to care about the price of the food. :)
Great cosy corner cafe. Loved the relaxed, genuine sit-down cafe atmosphere, seats for one in the window, croissant and cappuchino. Ill be back.
Just been to Napier quarter was very disappointed , left coz we were told to squeeze in a very tight place for lunch for two. Not sure how to squeeze in a space so tight near the door. Maybe the waitress should try squeezing in first.
Walked in on a busy cold Friday night. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and the pasta was amazing. Very grateful to have this lovely little back street gem in our neighbourhood.
A really amazing vibe in the middle of a neighbourhood.
They only serve full cream milk.. How backwards can you be...
Lovely ambience, delicious food. I had the pasta and a salad of herbaceous leaves which were both perfect.
Lovely position and service with Simon thanks. May sponsor them with MODA Sparkling Commercial Systems to free up their space and waste to remove landfill in 2020.
Terrible service here. We were twenty minutes late for our 7pm booking - when we arrived the waiter said that he had given our table away, but he also agreed to call us when another couple that was almost done with their desserts cleared their table. He never called us back, and acted snidely throughout our interaction. A shame for us.
Nice, trendy place for a sit. So trendy they stopped doing take away coffee...
This has been a long favourite spot forever. We had such a disappointing experience. I had talked it up to my friend visiting and the service was absolutely deplorable. The girl serving had such an attitude, it was like she was doing us a favour serving us. Then, our meals were forgotten and we were waiting for an hour. When we alerted the other gentleman serving, he put in our order again, barely apologising. Nothing was offered to us and it was shrugged off. When the food came, it was great but small (which wasn’t ideal given we arrived hungry). Sad to say I won’t be back.
Incredible food! Simple, seasonal and confident cooking in a sweet corner location. Shame about the aloof and uninformed waitresses and the unimaginative wine list (would’ve loved to see Victorian legends Momento Mori or Patrick Sullivan offered). Hoping the FOH will improve to match the level of the food being delivered.
Both the food and staff were amazing
A lovely sunny Melbourne morning. Shame about the sullen too cool 4 scool atmosphere inside this place. The food and coffee were great but the serving staffs attitude could have been a ton better. I wont be back.
Both food and wine were delicious! Slightly on the pricier side though.
Great vibe. Excellent service.. BUT why oh why no Almond milk for my lattes??
The sandwiches are among the best Ive had.
