We reached it walking from egyptian bazaar... the road leading to it is a hard hill, but the mosque is definitely worth the effort...The view from this mosque is mesmerizing...

I have finally visited this historic masjid and it definitely lived up to the hype, the outside is grand and amazingly preserved, and the interior is spacious and beautiful. This is easily in my top 2 favorite mosques in Istanbul!

Wonderful place ! The outside and the inside are stunning ! There are not as many people visiting this mosque as in Saint Sophie. The gardens are so peaceful and you have a great view on the Bosporus.

Beautiful Mosque. We were recomended to visit here instead of the Blue Mosque which is undergoing restoration at this time. The Mosque itself is very pretty and the surrounding gardens offer fantastic views over the Bosphorus. Just remember if you want to enter the Mosque to check prayer times and to wear appropriate clothing (hair and knees covered for girls/ knees covered for men).

This place is the art, the beauty combined with an interesting history and smart architecture including heating system. From the garden you can catch pretty spectacular view on the city.

Stunningly beautiful views and wonderfully historic mosque with multiple sultans buried on site. Free bathrooms was a nice plus as well. Right past one of the best bazaars in Istanbul so one can combine both fun browsing and shopping with the beauty and history of the mosque. There is no charge for admission and the grounds are exceptionally well kept. The Sultan Suleyman associated with Roksolana story is part of the charm of the place if one is familiar with the story, which most in Ukraine and surrounding countries will be.

Very nice mosque with amazing location and amazing architectural design, located in Fatih district and on the Golden Horn, its backyard has wonderful views of the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus as well, and the mosque from inside is breathtaking and very beautiful, i highly recommend visiting this mosque and enjoy everything it offers.

The mosque is located on the third hill of the seven hills of Istanbul in the heart of the Sulaymaniyah complex, which consists of a cemetery, four schools, a hospital, a hotel, a minaret, shops, bathrooms, a Quranic school, and the mausoleum of the architect Sinan. The whole group supplies a water supply system.

Magnificent piece of art. This beautiful building is named after Suleiman the Magnificent, dated as 1550. Located on the third hill of Istanbul. This is most visit and see.

The hill up to Suleymaniye mosque is very steep, but you get rewarded as soon as you enter the garden of the mosque. The garden is calm, beautiful and relaxing. You can sit on the grass on both side of the mosque to rest and maybe have a picknick. You can also find the best free view of Istanbul in the garden. If you will only visit one mosque while in Istanbul, I can strongly recomend this one. Its not crowded at all, so you can look around in the really big and beutiful mosque without being crowded with others, as in Ayasofya /Hagia Sofia. Sit down for a while and look up at the walls and ceiling. If you are a woman and do not have a shawl with you or if you or a man or woman who have shorts on, there are clothes to borrow. Enter through the gate which is for tourists. Out in the garden again there are plenty of clean, free toilets. Take the opportunity to visit the Cross Cultural communication center, outside the wall, for more information.

What can I say! This is one of the most famous places in Istanbul. From the point of view of history, it is probably more interesting to visit the tombs of the Sultan and his wife, because there is nothing remarkable in the mosque itself (after visiting Hagia Sophia).But the view from the hill to the districts of Istanbul is stunning.

The Süleymaniye Mosque (Süleymaniye Camii) is a historic Ottoman architectural building built in 1550 on the orders of Sultan Süleyman I the Magnificent, designed by Mimar Sinan The Genius Architect and became the largest mosque in Istanbul for centuries. Since 2019, the Grand Çamlıca Mosque (Büyük Çamlıca Camii) in the Üsküdar district of Istanbul has suppressed it as the largest mosque in Turkey. In 1985, this mosque has been a part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site.This mosque, which is located at the top of the Third Hill of Istanbul, soars majestically towards the sky with nothing to hinder its ascent. From this mosque we can get a view of the city of Istanbul around the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus strait.The mosque has a large courtyard with minarets in each corner. There is also a Külliye with imaret (soup kitchen), medrese (seminary), hamam, darüşşifa (hospital), tabhane (inn for traveling dervishes), botanical garden and the mausoleum tomb of the Sultan and his beloved wife.

We walked from Hagya Sofia via the Spices Bazaar and Grand Bazaar to the Suleymaniye Mosque. A great and entertaining walk to arrive at this very beautiful mosque and great view over Bosphorus and Asian part of Istanbul. The place is much more quiet than Blue mosque and Hagya Sofia and on top even more beautiful especially the outside inner square is worth the visit

This was my favorite Mosque that we visited in Istanbul. It wasnt as crowed as the other 2 famous Mosque, but was just as beautiful. Highly recommend visiting.

Very beautiful mosque, unbelievable architectural work done.

This is the largest mosque in Istanbul and in my opinion, also the most beautiful. We had a chance to attend the night prayer and enjoyed the recitation of the Quran reverberating throughout the hall. The acoustics are top notch. There was also a gentleman serving as a guide inside who was answering questions about Islam presented by visiting guests.

Its a beautiful piece of art and a must place to visit when in Istanbul. The view from the lawns of Suleymaniye Mosque is stunning. As the mosque is on the third hill of Istanbul, you can see the bosphorus, the bridge connecting Asian and European side.

After Sultanahmet Square Marvels of Ayo Sophia, Sultahmet Mosque, the cisterns, Topkapi and The Fountain of Wisdom went to Sulaimania Mosque. Amazing views looking over towards the Bosphorus river.You can visit the tombs and graves.This place should definitely be on your list of venues to visit while in Istanbul.

I really believe that this mosque is prettier, architecture wise than hagia sophia which has a better historic value. This mosque is big and nice and its colors are soft. For those who like taking nice pictures, there are many nice angles and locations some of them even with a nice view of the city. It’s for free too so i definitely recommend.

Beautiful mosque in Istanbul with view to the city. Entrance is free, open till 5pm. Also near the mosque there is a popular insta place to take a picture on roof.But cost 150lira. After visiting mosque u can walk to the bazaar, there is cheaper than other markets and eat. And to get to this place or back home easier by tram car without traffic.

This giant imperial mosque was built in Ottoman architecture style on the Third Hill of Istanbul, which was a complex consisted of mosque, schools, hospital, public kitchen & bath serving religious, cultural and social purposes of that days.

This mosque is not only big and beautiful in interior, but already calculated for performing good acoustics, inner natural air ventilation and earthquake prevention sub structures. The details of building elements are really nice.

A very peaceful and serene place to be. The interiors and exteriors are stunning. This isn’t the place to miss when visiting Istanbul. There’s also the view overlooking the sea which is simply stunning.

The grounds do not have as many people as the Hagia Sophia and there is a great breeze. The tomb is behind the mosque so make sure you walk all the way around the outside. There is also a great view of the city since its on top of the hill. I definitely recommend going here.

One of the most beautiful mosques in Istanbul! It is located far from the Sultanahmet area, so there are few people there. There is an observation deck overlooking the Bosphorus. There is a very pleasant energy! We didnt want to leave there)

Its a little bit of a walk but its the outside is picturesque and impressive while the inside is peaceful. You could walk here and just chill out for 20 minutes inside.

The Süleymaniye crowns one of İstanbuls seven hills and dominates the Golden Horn, providing a landmark for the entire city. Though its not the largest of the Ottoman mosques, it is certainly one of the grandest and most beautiful.Commissioned by Süleyman I, known as the Magnificent, the Süleymaniye was the fourth imperial mosque built in İstanbul; the mosques four minarets with their 10 beautiful şerefes (balconies) are said to represent the fact that Süleyman was the fourth of the Osmanlı sultans to rule the city and the 10th sultan after the establishment of the empire. The mosque and its surrounding buildings were designed by Mimar Sinan, the most famous and talented of all imperial architects. Construction occurred between 1550 and 1557.Inside, the building is breathtaking in its size and pleasing in its simplicity. Sinan incorporated the four buttresses into the walls of the building – the result is wonderfully transparent (ie open and airy) and highly reminiscent of Aya Sofya, especially as the dome is nearly as large as the one that crowns the Byzantine basilica.The mihrab (niche in a minaret indicating the direction of Mecca) is covered in fine İznik tiles, and other interior decoration includes window shutters inlaid with mother-of-pearl, gorgeous stained-glass windows, painted muqarnas (corbels with honeycomb detail), a spectacular persimmon-coloured floor carpet, painted pendentives and medallions featuring fine calligraphy.Süleyman specified that his mosque complex should have a külliye with imaret (soup kitchen), medrese (seminary), hamam, darüşşifa (hospital), tabhane (inn for travelling dervishes) etc. The imaret and tabhane are on the northwestern edge of the mosque and the main entrance to the mosque is accessed from Professor Sıddık Sami Onar Caddesi, formerly known as Tiryaki Çarşışı (Market of the Addicts). The buildings here once housed three medreses and a primary school; theyre now home to the Süleymaniye Library and a raft of popular streetside fasulye (bean) restaurants that used to be teahouses selling opium (hence the streets former name).The darüşşifa is on the corner of Professor Sıddık Sami Onar Caddesi and Şifahane Sokak.Sinans türbe (tomb) is just outside the mosques walled garden, next to a disused medrese (seminary) building.The still-functioning Süleymaniye Hamamı is on the eastern side of the mosque.To the right (southeast) of the mosques main entrance is the cemetery, home to the octagonal tombs of Süleyman and his wife Haseki Hürrem Sultan (Roxelana). The tile work surrounding the entrances to both is superb and the ivory-inlaid panels in Süleymans tomb are lovely.

Great Mousque

Well worth thr visit. It holds some fascinating history and the mosque itself is very beautiful. Be aware tho, here the traditional dress code is strictly followed.

Impressive piece of islamic architecture, religious center surrounded by many supporting buildings, memorial graveyard and beautiful park with the perfect view on the bay. Definitely worth visiting, even just to take a look and than chill in the large stone yard or on the grass if the park.

Great place with soul and wonderful view! Enter is free! You cant enter in mosque when the time of prayer is, so check the schedule. When I was there it was 13-14h, but they are praying 5 times per day. You cant come to mosque on that time but thats just one part of monument, you can see all the monument by the time when pray finish. Its on the top of the one part of city, so go by walk and enjoy in tiny colourful streets.

One of the most beautiful mosque I’ve been to. There was construction going on inside when I was visiting but still could see the marvel and historical detail. They’ve have taken such good care of it. I was also able to make the dhuhr prayer inside so that was a big blessing.

Great place inside the garden, old architecture. And I was lucky enough to get inside the Mosque – the atmosphere when you take your shoes off, taking steps in this giant building with so many windows, lights, and mosaic. Worthy experience.

Probably the very best mosque to visit in Istanbul, not only is the architecture beautiful, but the view out over the river and the city is simply amazing! It has very nice gardens surrounding it so you can lay back and relax and enjoy the entire complex. And if youre feeling adventurous you can climb to the top of one of the VERY large minarets! So worthing going to see, plus its free.
