A 3-4 hr ride from Rishikesh upwards (road under construction). The confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda is beautiful and soothing to the eyes. This is the starting point of The Holy Ganges. The waters are green and turquoise in the month of December. Expect them to be muddy in the summer and monsoons. Enroute, watch out for the U turn the Ganges makes while making its way to Rishiskesh and onwards.
An pilgrimage of Hindu where Holy river Bhagirathi Ganga and Alaknanda met. The place is known as Bhagirathi Ganga Alaknanda Sangam. Good natural views. Visible partation of water of both river you can see. Can take Holy bath there. Ram Mandir is also on the bank of the river Ganga. You can enjoy the narrow streets and local culture of UK. Holy Ram Kund is also there. No more aminity there. Local food ia available.Connected to Rishikesh Joshimath Road. Hilly area with sharp curve. Please carry medicine for vomiting. No wheel chair available and accessible. Around 1 KM walking distance from Parking/ Bus Stop.
Divine place
Best ever feel this place gives. The whole some view of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda becoming The Ganga .... Noise and snores of the river is filled with beauty..

Devprayag has the best significant in Indian methodology, it originated maa Ganga.
Too much crowd is the only thing that takes one star otherwise its a good place to be.
For mountain lover, this is just beginning of a great adventure.
Devprayag - A sacred place. This is the place where Confluence of two rivers, Alaknanda & Bhagirath happens. Alaknanda (after confluence with Mandakini at Rudraprayag) originates from Badrinath & Bhagirathi from Gaining (Gangotri) . In the photo, the greyish water is Alaknanda & blue is Bhagirath. Together they form the River Ganges. There is a temple on the Bank of the river where confluence happens.
This temple is located on a sangam of two rivers. Nice and calm location. Perfect for meditation, yoga and self actualization.
Gr8 temple at ganga ji sangam in devprayag.

Nice place to worship 👍
Mystic place with an awesome view of two rivers joining together to form Ganga
Very nice place to meditate with beautiful music of Bhagirathi flowing and at the same time serene Alaknanda joining at the confluence creating a beautiful mesmerizing experience
Sangam of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers.
I didnt go to the temple. But I stopped at the highway to have a look at the confluence of Bhagirathi and Alaknanda rivers to form the Ganges river. The Bhagirathi river with its bluish green water looks awesome but the muddy water of Alaknanda doesnt look all that awesome. Although Bhagirathi is considered to be the source stream of Ganges as per Mythology but as per hydrology Alaknanda is the major source stream as it discharges more water than Bhagirathi which s very obvious at the confluence as the stream gradually merges to become muddy and more like Alaknanda than Bhagirathi.
A place you can witness the flow of the Alaknandha and Bakeerathi river together.

It is located @ devprayag ghat.Devprayag is mesmerizing place to be there. Need walk down through stairs from the main road. Its about 100 steps down and some walk down through the smalk marketplace to the meeting place of Alknanda and Bhagirathi river. Spent some time in front of the flowing water and touch the cold water of the prayag. Its the place from where Ganga takes her name.
One of the most popular pilgrimage, often crowded. Good market nearby. Confluence of Bhagirthi and Alaknanda to name the river Ganga which flows towards rishikesh. Temples are around where peoples generally visit. Good place for a weekend.
