We ate here as a family in August on holiday. All I can say is I wish we had an Indian as good as this where we live.I can honestly say it’s one of the best I’ve eaten at …….and I’ve been to a lot of Indian restaurants in the uk through the years.
After ordering at 7;30, I get my food at 9;50. That in itself would be Ok, but the person that drops my food off asks if I want my food? Supposedly I had looked at him and did not let him in. Evidently stressed, if he stopped to think hed realised I was hungry and waiting for my food for nearly 2 hours. Yes I want the food I paid for. That seems like a strange question to ask someone who paid for food that was 2 hours late.
Food was fabulous, service was really slow…we weren’t in any rush, but you would be annoyed if you were. 3 times we were asked if we’d ordered and still no one came. Would have given 4 stars otherwise as food was good.
Brilliant authentic food. Service was a bit slow but the staff and the food more than made up for it. The owners were very welcoming and attentive.
We met with friends on Saturday night at the start of the indoor dining weekend. The place was packed but the staff worked so hard to keep everyone happy. They did an amazing job, were really friendly and the food was delicious. We wish you all the success and glad you are able to open again. Thank you
Absolutely wonderful meal. Very well and appropriately spiced. Charming service. Really enjoyed everything, even the view from the terrace.
Had a fantastic meal and evening here. Complete surprise. Lovely food and very friendly staff. Will be back, when we visit Bath again.
Our first experience of Mantra was a takeaway this evening which was absolutely amazing! We went for several different dishes with the top tasty being the baby spiced aubergine, lamb chops and tarka dhal. Sooo fresh, complex tasting and the perfect spice balance. Cannot wait to come into the restaurant and experience being amongst the team.Would highly recommend 👍
The Wife and I visited for a 4 course lunch. We live in Bath and this restaurant was recommended to us.Food was really really good and was refreshing to get away from the typical Western view of curry. It wasnt extremely busy which allowed the gentleman serving us to provode more detail around the dishes, how and what the best way to eat (we went with our hands) for the first course. He also gave us some great tips to try at home. The only down point (reason for not 5 star) was we booked our table for 12pm but when we arrived the restaurant was still closed and we could not reach the owner. However it was Christmas time so we grabbed a coffee and mingled through the markets. We went back 45 minutes later and it was open and we were not in a huge rush... so no real harm done. The back of the restaurant has a really modern panoramic conservatory extension which provided great views of Bath. I can only imagine how great this would be in the summer sat out in the garden area.Food was really good (me and my wife have ate in a lot of curry houses in both Bristol and Bath) and we rated this highly. It was greasy and full of fresh flavour. Its clichè but we will return and we will bring friends and family with us.Russell and Charlotte xx
Ordered a takeaway for delivery through their website last night, which weve done on several occasions previously. Two hours and fifteen minutes later, after several calls and promises of it will be there in 15 minutes, the food arrived!I was on the phone to them when the food finally arrived, trying to cancel our order for a second time. I was told by the man on the phone to take the food and that they would make it up to us with the next order. When I asked how they would make it up to us they hung up.Zero respect, shambolic service, we will not be ordering again.
The food here is absolutely unreal and the interior and atmosphere is beautiful. The only slight let down for us was that the waitress was pushing us a little too much, to order more food. Also there were quite a lot of staff attending to our table, which meant we were constantly asked the same questions. However, I would absolutely recommend this restuarant! The food is fantastic!
Food is not at all Indian. Making fool of local people to be honest. Whosoever prepared it, is really incompetent. Never ever had that soggy dosa before anywhere in the UK. Sambhar was not at all tasting like Sambhar. Frozen vegetables used in it were clearly seen. Dosa is apparently their speciality.Overflowing Men’s Toilet: Urine everywhere.Intimidating Staff: Not at all friendly. In fact judgemental. Remember, faking things won’t help you succeed your business. The ambiance was so uncomfortable that me and my wife had to leave as soon as possible.Very bad experience. Will never suggest an Indian to try them.
Great food and service. On a sunny afternoon the terrace is a great place to eat.Worth a visit whilst in Bath.
The food was delicious, the staff were incredible and accommodating especially as we arrived 15min before the kitchen closed, they kept the restaurant open an additional 30min for us late comers and still provided an exceptional service. Thank you all ❤
We didnt enjoy the dishes we ordered. Pan fried cauliflower was OK, however the dosa didnt taste very well - soggy, under seasoned and not the dosa we imagined. Hyderabad dum briyani was just biryani rice with chicken kormaand yes we know our food very much!!
We booked for Fathers Day and specifically asked if we can bring our dog they said their patio area was dog friendly. As soon as we sat down the manager approached to us saying This is not a pub this is a restaurant we told her that we booked and the staff said it was ok but she did not want to hear what we are saying we felt humiliated in-front of other customers and we were shocked how we got treated. I got up and left with my dog and left my husband and our son I did not want to say anything because I did not want to disturb other customers .We were very disappointed how the situation was handled we will never consider to go back.
Absolutely fabulous, best Indian I have ever had, an will ever have, by far the best food Ive eaten, went there two nights in a row, fabulous staff, open to conversation, very friendly and have a great sense of humour, 10/10, should definitely try
I wont lie some of the food was very tasty (like the lamb chops). However, failed to deliver the rice which is kind of a key component when ordering several curries. Also, why even put these poppadoms in the bag, it makes no sense. The rest of them were delicious, but these were right at the top so its the first thing we saw when opening the bag.Additionally the chicken in the butter chicken had the texture more like cheese or tofu (and they were perfect cubes), not convinced it was not a paneer of some description. Still delicious but not sure it was what we ordered.
No star restaurant. Food was not at all tasty with zero hygiene. It is the most dirtiest Indian restaurant I have been to. Do not use the washroom at any cost as it makes you sick. Staff was forcing us to order food and very unprofessional. Serving food with dirty hands !! Not worth visiting.
Amazing takeaway! I had the sweet and spicy aubergine and it was exceptional! New favorite curry takeaway. We’ll definitely be ordering from here again.
AmazingBest in BathMy second visit will be back soon
Delivery took an hour more than expected and they didn’t answer the phone twice when I called
Great service, fantastic rice pancakes.
This Indian Restaurant is by far, the best weve been to! The staff are all amazing & the owner (when his wife isnt there 😉) is so nice & chatty.. Oh, and the food is out of this world! Highly recommended!
Visited for a birthday meal and it was absolutely great! Wonderful service and as soon as we arrived there was such a delicious smell in the air! Everything tasted as good as it smelt and the restaurant had a lovely friendly feel to it. Would be great in the summer with the balcony and garden area.
Excellent food and amazing views from the deck at the back
Lovely food ,lovely views, and Staff very polite..obliging..The food was very tasty, and ingredients were fresh and tasted great..well worth a visit will definitely go back one day🤗
Had a gorgeous meal here last night with my daughter, we needed an early dinner so it was very quiet at the time which meant we were able to sit at a table looking over their terrace and good views of Bath beyond.Mantra offers a comprehensive menu do there should be something for everyone. We started with poppadums which were really tasty; then Kitty had a vegetable biryani and I had the Kashmiri lamb rogan Josh and we were both very happy with our choices. For dessert Kitty loved her gulag jasmin and I enjoyed the best kulfi Ive had outside India.Ill be going back for lunch with my wife so that we can try their thalis. What a lovely evening.
Excellent food served here, at a reasonable price. Staff were very friendly, and able to recommend a good selection of dishes. A very enjoyable evening, I would definitely recommend for a dinner with friends.
Having few foodies in the family is hard to please all with family dine out! We absolutely loved the food, service and ambiance. We had the chef’s table where we saw the chef in action. I will highly recommend you to visit the restaurant if you are in Bath. It is hard to please an indian with indian food and they pleased all palettes. Moreover the owners define the word hospitality! Mr Prasad and his wife are a lovely couple with great charm.
Disgusting service. We have been waiting for one hour and noone bothered to serve us. Covid restrictions are not in place. Staff doesnt seem to care about clients wellbeing and safety or at least good service.
Myself and my husband have been waiting to visit Mantra from a very long time so we decided to go on my daughters birthday. We had made a booking but had a lot of changes after booking but the staff were very nice and made adjustment for us. The food was top notch. Great flavours. Good quality food. Really enjoyed our meal. A totally brilliant experience, I highly recommend this place. The staff are very friendly and helpful from the entry to the exit. Overall, great service. Thank you Mr Prasad and Team
Ordered on Deliveroo, they do there own delivery’s , clearly lied about delivery time as food was over an hour later then suggested
We have ordered from them and after 30 mins from the confirmed delivery time, as the food was not received Deliveroo staff and us tried to call the restaurant which never answer to the calls! Resonably we thought we were never going to receive/eat. At this point we ordered from another restaurant and after 50 mins from the established time we received the food! We had already ate something else and we had to get rid of some food that went bad the day after! This 1 star is for this restaurant manager to understand that they need to improve the communication during the delivery and let clients know about any delay!
Amazing food, as well as the staff, the restaurant and the overall service. Thank you! :)
Had a great time with my friends at Mantra. The quality of the lamb was out of the world. The butter chicken and the cheese nan were outstanding too. Having grown up in an Indian house in Saudi, I was really surprised at the standard of Authentic Indian Food in Bath and regretful for having my first visit to mantra so late. Everyone were super friendly too. Totally recommend 👌🏼
A delicious meal, beautifully served, by attentive friendly staff all wearing masks. I was asked before being shown to my table if I had used the foot operated handgel by the entrance. Well done Mantra staff who are doing their best to keep customers safe.
Best Indian in town with a spectacular view, the view alone makes it worth it. Must do
Really lovely place and the staff were fantastic. Had dosa for the first time and loved it, what stopped me from giving 5* was that my favourite part of a curry is naan and they were nothing like a traditional naan. The peshwari naan was so sweet it was hard to eat. However the medium chilli chicken was amazing!
Excellent service. The mango lassi is the best Ive had: creamy, generous serving, not too sweet 👌The fish curry (seabass) was outstanding! We also tried the new green pea curry, pretty good for those who prefer a mild dish. Great food, glad we visited!
Went there today. Such a horrible experience. Waited 1 hour to get food.. Too noisy and the food was not up to the mark. Wont suggest to anyone.
Would not recommend
First takeaway from these guys and what a find! Wonderful food, great flavours, very fresh. Ordered all veggie and great to see such interesting choices available. Lovely service and delivery. Will be ordering very regularly. Impressive in every way. Cant recommend enough.
Probably one of the nicest Indian restaurants I’ve been to. Delicious, highly recommend - dosas especially. Would definitely return.
Just ordered takeaway. I cant remember the last time I have had a better Indian takeaway. The manager on the phone was very friendly and helpful. He recommended the butter chicken to me, which was delicious. Deep rich in flavour, lots if spices and a good amount of heat. The lamb rogan josh was also beautifully tender and filled with fragrant spicy goodness. I would recommend this to anyone. Well worth the money!! Thank you!
Really nice food and a great setting
The food was fantastic, service is great and very nice atmosphere. Definitely would recommend
We ordered food from them last night, and were treated to the most delicious and authentic cuisine Ive had in a while. Flavours were perfect, the quality of food in general was excellent, and I cannot seem to fault this place for anything! Brilliant!
It was incredibly busy (especially with COVID going on) with queues coming out of the door.Once we were eventually seated the service was incredibly slow. The staff themselves and the food were nice and apologetic but not great given what is currently going on.
The good food does not make up for the absolutely appalling service at this restaurant. Every time we’ve eaten here it’s taken hours to get even a starter. We recently ordered take out and they kept us waiting half an hour after the collection time we had been told, before our food was ready and then they still missed something off our order so we had to drive back a second time. The food is good but we’ve decided after multiple chances it’s just not worth the awful service.
Groupon voucher booked. We walked in and were welcomed and delighted with the food. It was tasty and flavoursome. Will come back again.
Absolutely wonderful food. Some of the best Indian cuisine to be found in the area. The select menu means that the dishes are all made to the highest quality. The garlic naan is delicious!
The food was great, the takeaway arrived on time. A really good option in bath!
Disappointed with the food, not really sure what was progressive about this and would highly recommend not ordering the Mumbai style nachos (literally cheese Doritos and some weird salad) the amount of food we got did not reflect the price, we felt pretty ripped off when receiving the bill! One of the waitresses was lovely but I’d advise a different Indian restaurant.
Absolutely incredible food and service. The waitress that served us was extremely polite and answered every question we asked. Prateek was very charming. 100% coming again
Best Indian food in Bath and the staff is lovely. Highly recommend!
Dirty plates, dirty toilets with no soap or sanitizer. waited an hour for food before we left. No acknowledgement, won’t be returning.
The food and the ambience of the place was lovely. And at first we thought the staff were helpful and friendly, but then came a hard sell which I havent experienced in a restaurant before. And constant interruptions by the staff coming to our table. We were persuaded to have the pancake starter, being told that we couldnt go to The Mantra without having experienced what theyre reknown for? That was OK. But when I asked for a glass of water and not another cocktail, the waiter looked pained. I was asked several times if I wanted a cup of tea. I know times are hard, but this behaviour spoiled our evening and we wont come back because of this, so maybe a false economy here.
Amazing and tasty food delivering an authentic Indian experience! I can honestly say that I can eat mantra food everyday without a second thought!! The space has a pleasant ambience and good service. Will highly recommend to visit this place with both friends and family!!!Visit during lunch hour for a brilliant view of the city scape!
Lovely and unique attention food. Couldn’t fault it in anyway. Only feedback is the service. Other than that, I highly recommend everyone to try the food and cocktails.
Visited yesterday at lunch time, the waiter informed us a member of staff had failed to turn up so maybe slower than normal. I have to say we wouldnt have noticed, he did an excellent job, first class service, friendly and always checking we were OK for drinks. The food was simply fantastic, amazing flavours. We left the restaurant extremely satisfied and will not hesitate to return if we ever visit Bath again in the future. Highly recommended, I wish we had a Mantra in Devon.
Considering were in a pandemic and restaurant staff are limited everywhere (Im a chef myself), we were very impressed with timing of delivery and the food was so lovely and fresh. Good portion sizes too. One of the better curry houses in Bath.Cheaper curry houses are a false economy because they tend to be stingy and the quality often isnt there, so try Mantra instead, you wont regret it.
Fantastic food and very friendly staff who were very coeliac aware. They have a great range of gluten free dishes, cant recommend highly enough!
Great curry and atmosphere - such lovely staff, amazing food and very reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend the onion bhaji and paneer dosa. Was told that will be open for takeaways during lockdown so definitely support!
Good food, wasn’t oily. Black daal was particularly good. All waiters wearing masks which was great and it’s a shame more restaurants aren’t doing the same.
Extremely nice food. We ordered daal, baby aubergine curry, and a paneer dish plus a couple of starters. Each dish was full of flavour. Excellent naan too. Fast delivery. And covid secure.
Usually my friends and I head to a different Indian restaurant for our meals, however after hearing rave reviews about Mantra, we decided to give it a go, and we were not disappointed at all! The food was sent to us very quickly and professionally. Plus every bite tasted delicious! The staff were always able to help out even though it was an extremely busy night, always knew what they were talking about, and were extremely polite. The owner and his wife did come and chat to us to explain some parts of the meal to us and that was extremely insightful to learn some things like that.As a whole we will definitely be coming back again.
Traveled down to Bath to visit a friend, we decided to try here for dinner as fancied an Indian and glad we did. Service was great as was the food, will happily go back again on a future trip down. Thanks for some great food.
Ordered a Chicken Biriyani via Uber Eats. No complaints about the delivery system.Regarding the food, firstly the biriyani can never be called a hyderabadi chicken biriyani, in fact it does not taste like a biriyani at all. A novice can prep a biriyani that would taste like one watching some video or using a recipe online. Of all the biriyanis I have tried in different restaurants in Bath during the lockdown this is the worst. As a matter of fact of all my life this is the only one which has a name biriyani but does not taste and look like one. I am not sure how the restaurant got a 4.4 star rating in google reviews.I would like to add something more over based on reply from Restaurant on UberEats and Google Maps. The Owner Who has replied, claims to be from Hyderabad, India and explained me how the dish is prepared. But I would like to make myself clear that I am a person who moved to UK recently and a hardcore hyderabadi who has tasted the dish (Chicken Biriyani) in every nook and corner of the city and in other cities as well in India. So i believe i can make a good judgement when the dish is not as per the receipe. Ofcourse I am not talking about spice level becuase i understand it is meant of locals here in UK to taste and not burn their mouth. Also seems like the owner has either copied the same reply from ubereats or has some standard template for negative reviews, every word and sentence below is an exact copy of his first reply to my comments on Ubereats. Anyways, I am not going to waste a single penny on this restaurant even by visting them.
Called in for a delivery recently and must say enjoyed every bit of it. Coming from India, I have had the most authentic biryani and kebabs one can ever have and mantra with their authenticity is a true competition to every Indian restaurant in the vicinity.I remember calling up the restaurant just after dinner late that night to appreciate the amount of effort taken to prepare the perfect Indian feast and hearing a voice at content on the other end. Not often you have the owner himself asking for suggestions and being ready to cater to every need and choices and particular request just to suit ones taste. He knows what exactly he is trying to curate and I think very well succeeded in his attempt of highlighting Indian cuisine in a petite British town. Kudos to the team for putting up such a well packed and excellent platter full of flavors and perfect balance that took me back to India and now I know exactly whom to reach out when I miss home. Thank you for being a new favorite.
Good authentic Indian food. I particularly liked the masala dosa which you dont get that often on the menu.
Popped in for a quick vegetarian dinner and everything was truly delicious. Will be back.
Helpful staff expensive
Amazing! We eat often from this place. They are all super friendly and helpful staff. Great selection off both vegan and gluten free food.
I am not normally someone to leave reviews but after tonights meal I am shocked at the customer service and food..disgraceful.
We ate in at Mantra for luncb. The food was nice but we werent impressed with the service. We had booked a table for 12pm but when we arrived just after 12 the doors were still shut and the closed sign was up! Even when knocking the door, noone came to help us. The staff were not very welcoming at all even when taking our order.
I can not recommend this place enough. Best Indian in Bath, theres no comparison. A MUST.
I recently ordered from mantra and was incredibly pleased with the brilliant customer service and delicious food!I am gluten free and was really impressed with the GF onion bhajis.Getting your food still fresh can be a issue sometimes when having a take away but both times we have ordered, our food has come fresh and tasty!wish I had found you guys sooner!
Best curry I’ve ever had! Amazing flavours.
Delicious paneer makti with garlic naan, followed by heavenly pistachio ice cream.
Extremely good delivery and AMAZING Korma curry and garlic cheese nann. Have found my new go-to Indian! Thanks for the great food!
So delicious!
Booked this last minute dinner whilst on a trip to Bath. The food was outstanding and was blown away with the service. Would definitely come back to Bath just to go here again.
Lovely service and incredible food. Particularly enjoyed the aubergine dish, and all the food is incredible. Good level of spice and good menu offering, highly recommend. Owners and staff are wonderful.
Called from Canada and wanted a delivery in the UK. Was astonished how easy Mr. Persaud made this process for me. The order was delivered on time . Just want to say thanks. I would recommend this Restaurants service anytime!. Professional, courteous and efficient service.
The food was expensive is really not good
