Nice ambience. Service was good. Although it was fustrating how small the portions were and therefore expensive for what it is, the authentic taste of the food is what makes it worth while. Overall a good experience and worth a try when in Bath.

Good, well spiced food served in a nice setting. They have a selection of smaller street food dishes as well as some larger curry dishes. We went for around 3 smaller street food dishes along with a curry and biryani between two of us. We were stuffed and couldnt finish it all but enjoyed everything we ate. They had a little mix up with our order where they served our dishes to the wrong table. Mistakes happen and they corrected it and apolagised straight away.If you go along on a Thursday like we did, they have a live Jazz band playing in the evening which is a nice touch.Would recommend coming here if youre in the area or like Dishoom style food.

If you are looking for standard chicken curry and a Pappadum you are in the wrong place but if you’re looking for an amazing atmosphere a completely different take on standard English Indian restaurants you have found it.the food was incredible so many different tastes and flavours served quickly efficiently and at a very reasonable cost.Right in the heart of bath The location is perfect for a bite to eat before the cinema or after a great day shopping!!!

World-class Indian food from a well-staffed restaurant with friendly, helpful waiters and a live kitchen where you can compliment the chefs in person. And you will want to! Beautiful outside seating, a great selection of wines, and chilli squid and innovative pulled-duck tacos to die for.

Slightly worried when we arrived because the restaurant looked deserted, but it soon filled up. The food came quickly. I had the curry bowl with aubergine cooked in coconut milk ...utterly delicious!Rather struck by the unusual loo which was Immaculately clean, always a good sign!Highly recommended!

2nd time in a month, first visit was fine food was good service slow which I understand due to covid , but front staff lady is not friendly. Found her rude. Both me and friend decided not coming back. Gin was absolutely sweet syrup. Today went for lunch and sadly I didn’t take pics but utterly disappointed chilly tofu was dry not like usual and when asked why so , they said owner has changed the recipe but not reflected on menu. Bread was absolutely raw. We just left. Being local I know you hat good Food is.. worst Indian I had . I don’t care about small size of food is nice. No one bother asking. I wish now I had taken pics.

Bandook is a fantastic Indian restaurant just off Milsom Street Bath. Visited during the first week of lockdown restrictions being eased and found this to be a great experience. Outdoor seating only during this lockdown period but the restaurant inside looks very nice for when restrictions are fully lifted. Excellent food which is not the typical menu found in many restaurants coupled with an equally good service from the Bandook team. A personal recommendation is ‘grandma’s chicken curry’.... absolutely fantastic!!

I was left disappointed with this meal. The food was tasty but no better than I would have expected for this type of restaurant. The portion sizes were very small which then made the meal quite expensive for what it was. We left feeling hungry but with a large dent in the wallet. It is a nice place to go but order more than you think you need and be prepared to pay a bit for it!

Superb curry! In fact some of the best I have ever tried (and I eat a lot of curry) It’s not all that common to find Indian street food served at this level and they have some really unique dishes you will likely not have come across. Great service as well as a very nice decor and an outdoor seating area. Highly recommend this place and will be returning on our next trip to Bath.

After looking forward to visiting Bandook I cannot express enough how poor the food was. Incredibly dry vegetable starters, all dishes woefully seasoned, indulgently over-priced for below average food.Never before in my life have I had to resort to putting salt on any Indian dish so that I could taste…something.A Biryani should be rich and flavoursome with a deeply juxtaposed texture between the rice and vegetables. The biryani at this restaurant seemed to be of the opinion that flavour was an urban myth and had only a mere fleeting nodding hello of a friendship with vegetables. The chickpea dish would have been more passable as a soup…in texture at least. I’m sure I needn’t mention again the baffling absence of ANY flavour. The whole meal was akin to eating white noise.Had the staff been bothered to ask us how the food was we would have been quite happy to tell them of our experience - however, they simply drifted around in a hypnotic fugue state.Probably best to not go here to be perfectly honest.

I only recently went to this place for a meal and it instantly became my favourite for Indian food. I am Indian and there is hardly any Indian restaurant that serves good dosa in Bath. I loved the food, was very delicious. I would say its pretty close to authentic Indian tasting food. The service is excellent too! The staff is friendly and welcoming.I went there recently for my birthday meal and I was treated to a delicious complimentary dessert which was a lovely surprise. One criticism is their portion size is small. Pani puri only had 4 puri (£1 a puri was painful to digest.) The dessert was also really small. Also, as an Indian, I was not very pleased when the waiters didnt seem to really know the dishes e.g. calling dosa a taco. Its served in a taco style but its not a taco.Despite the portion size, I would still recommend the restaurant. Visited three times in the last two weeks and they have not disappointed.

Unfortunately, I was so disappointed with Bandook. The service we received was absolutely awful, firstly, we were told no when we asked if we could order and our waitress was incredibly rude to us several times throughout the evening (and heard her being rude to other tables in our vicinity, even scoffing at them when they asked something). The food was really tasty when it arrived however, it took 1.5 hours to receive some of the food, with one of our party having to cancel their dish as it hadn’t arrived after being there for 2 hours and another finding hair in their food.We found that whilst yes, it was good food, the portions were quite small, especially for the price.Even paying was a mission, we had to ask for the bill several times and eventually went up to pay during which the person taking our payment ran off several times. I should mention they did discount our bill but by then, the bad experience had already occurred with nothing done to try and make our experience better throughout the evening (for example, basic service of asking a table whether they would like any more drinks)Whilst things do happen and it can be hard going, the entire experience was just terrible and I really can’t recommend going here, I’ve noticed a lot of the reviews also mention the same thing.Terrible service and/or the food being overpriced for what you get.

Service was painfully slow. I can understand that reopening after a long time makes everyone rusty. But this was exceptional. I think my group was the only walk in, and it seemed like they werent purposely ignoring us. We waited 45 minutes for someone to take an order, and another 45 minutes for the appetizers. It took them 20 minutes to fetch us some extra cutlery to eat. On top of that, the menu is a bit expensive for their portion sizes. I will admit though that the food was good. So kudos to the chef!

Bandook is a nice clean establishment with very good service. But is just a hugely overpriced Indian restaurant. For example the rack of lamb was not a rack of lamb for £12 it was 2 cutlets. Although it was on the small plate menu so maybe l am being a little picky, but come on Grandmas curry was nothing but a madras, (as l asked for it hot) and yes it was decent. Now trust me l know curry as l spent a small fortune eating the bloody stuff. And no beer/cider on draught so 330ml bottles for £4 a pop!! All in all it was OK but a traditional Indian restaurant for me anyday, and if your a curry fan l bet you will agree with me.

I realise that Bandook has recently opened (though the owners own the Mint Room in Bath, so they have experience), but without doubt that was the worst meal I have had in some time. Out of a table of 14 of us, two people didnt get any main course, and three people had to send theirs back, the food being cold. My meal was bland, without texture, a friends tasted like tomato soup with curry powder added. The service was totally chaotic, the people serving were trying their best, but felt as if they had zero support or structure from the management or owners. The Mint Room in Bath is very good; how the same owners can create a restaurant so terrible is beyond me.

Shocking service, was waiting for more than an hour and a half for food. Staff are oblivious to the needs of customers, using the delay for food as an opportunity to sell drinks rather deliver your food. Honestly don’t know how this place is still open, a bit of a covid fest, members of staff don’t wear any sort of PPE (masks and gloves). Food is very average and salty, basically a BTEC version of Dishoom (aesthetically identical to the chain of restaurants in London), you might as well jump on a train to London and try the original that’s how long the food takes to arrive. Can you believe they told us the delay was caused by customers arriving at the same time! How does that even make sense? As a business you should have the capabilities to cater for customers arriving at the same time, that’s how a restaurant works.I’ll give this place a strong 1/10.
