This is great for large groups, the atmosphere is awesome and plenty of space. Timing wasnt always the best, it took a while for drinks but the meals came out around the same time. The cocktails are definitely worth a try and are all $16.50, which is not bad for being on the edge of town. The toilets could use expanding, Ive never come across a line for the toilets in a restaurant before. Overall though it was pretty good, the food was delicious and the servers were friendly and attentive. Probably the more expensive end of your average Thai place but definitely worth a revisit.

I came for a small meal on my own. Was given wonderful service, the atmosphere here is great and seating options look to be great for anyone’s preference.I had the Tom Yum soup which is one of my favorites and it did not disappoint, also equally delicious the rice paper rolls, served on the platter looking fabulous. I will definitely be back, I’ll sort my Tom Yum soup cravings here!

Very friendly staff that make sure youre comfortable and well fed+watered. My partner has a seafood allergy to certain things and they go out of their way to adapt to your food choices. Keen to go back and try the rest of the menu.

Terrible experience within the first 2 minutes of walking into this place. A woman working here was so blatantly disrespectful and racist to my friend who had gone to use the restroom before we were seated. After he walked out she said she would now have to get someone to clean the toilet because he had used it. That’s such an awful thing to say to someone. She didn’t even stop to ask if he would be dining there - she just assumed he wasn’t. Two other white friends had walked in just before him and done the same thing, gone straight to the toilet before being seated, and she didn’t anything to them.

Stopped by for dinner on a Friday night and didnt have make a booking to get a table. There were a few parties going on so it was a bit loud.We were seated and were promptly given menus and water. After a while going through the menu we were asked if we wanted drinks and if we were ready to order. We had ordered cocktails and food since they sounded really good. Although busy they didnt make us feel rushed throughout the evening. One of the most interesting thing on the menu was a shot of tom yum prawn. Although the other items were more traditional they were also really good. The curry didnt have as much flavour as I was expecting but the tamarind chicken was just amazing.Another thing of note is the glass panel on the floor which shows their wine cellar, located just in front of the reception area. I was also quite surprised at how large the whole restaurant was, as it goes back down to the bar and the toilets.We had ordered 2 entrees and three mains for four people as well as drinks, which came to around $40pp. Be aware that there is a minimum spend per person.Efficient and friendly service along with nice Asian inspired cocktails and delicious Thai food makes this place a nice restaurant to go to.

Went to JoyBong with the family for a celebration and early start to the night. I had high hopes from what I was told and was not disappointed. Thai food is a family favorite and JoyBong deliver with bells on. The menu is extensive and the food simply delicious. There is also an extensive bar, we had cocktails which were on point for our evening. Very well worth dropping in you wont be disappointed. Its also large enought to have large groups. Highly recommended.

Food here is tasty but pricey. The only benefit to eating here is the fact that its BYO. It gets pretty rowdy with all the drunk people but management are good with kicking people out if they are too unruly. Good place for a party dinner where everyone gets wasted but otherwise would not go here.

Think that management bit off more than they could chew the night I dined here. Was waiting over half an our to get orders taken then the food took over an hour to be served. Food is on the pricey side for the quality and quantity. Staff are lovely.

Delightful staff, very friendly, also obliging when it comes to small changes to meals. Weve been more or less on a monthly basis for a couple of years so they know our orders, and are generous. Oh, and the meals are delicious!

Food was nice and reasonably priced but the service was a bit off. They were friendly enough but never asked if we wanted drinks or wanted a desert after our meal ( which we did).

Loved it! Went there last week and had fish cakes, spring rolls, the whole deep fried snapper and yellow curry. Everything was delicious. A new waitress was being trained at the time which denoted the hosts kindness and skills. Lovely experience overall and will be coming back.

Standard NZ Thai food. Any suburban Thai will be about this quality for maybe half the price. Awesome cocktails though, and they have cozy booths.

Dear Joy Bong management,I would like to bring to your attention a incident that happened 16/7/2019.Firstly the food took a while to arrive at our table we ordered at 1pm it arrive 1:25.Understandable that there was a large table, the issue here is that you did not set the correct wait expectations for your customer which was me and friends.Secondly i odered a Tom yum chicken noodle soup and the order that arrived was chicken noodle soup. Their might have a been a miscommunication between and the waiter which can happen, but what shocked me was what the waiter responded to me and i quote Next time make sure you know what your ordering I was left speechless needless to say appalled by that response.Thirdly i had forgotten about that terrible interaction and asked the waiter when he returned if we could have peanuts which was in the chilli oil. He then proceeded to argue with me that its normally served just with oil and with no peanuts. Telling me that theres no peanuts at the back.I went to see the manager about this and i am left without words she just nodded and did not even bother with the whole scenario. Just a blabk expression on her.I hope that this is not the service other customer receive when coming to this restaurant.Two words: Appalling service

Amazing staff and atmosphere. Organizing my booking over the phone was a breeze and thank you to the staff members who put up with my constant requests and changes. Great barman came over and let us know about some parking issues that may affect us which saved us a lot of trouble.

Had a big group of 30 and this place delivered in many ways.Food might be little bit pricey ( 29$ main) but damn it is tasty! Everyone loved the food. And most amazing staff I have seen in a long time! The manager was supernice eventhough I messed up and booked a bigger number people than we needed ( everyone sick) - try go avoid this mistake as it is loss for the business and I am very sorry!Def gonna come back, these people have a heart in what they are doing!

Nice social place for a BYO but the food was really disappointing and expensive. The cashew chicken was sweet and a little sickening yet cost $27. Wont be going back any time soon.

The food tonight was just as delicious but when you pay $26.50 for a take away massaman curry, youd expect the curry to have more curry. A medium size plastic container and half filled with curry!! Cmon guys. My friend got 2 small pieces of chicken in her undersized dish! You can do better.

This is our first time in joybong thai, usually me and my husband are a huge fan of thai food n love to try oyt new places; we ordered chicken penang curry and whole snapper with tamarind sauce god we lovveed it. I am giving four star because I believe they can improve their fish item a bit as I have had better in sawadee.Bur would definitely go again. Also customer service was suoerb.
