It’s beautiful! It’s historical. It’s modern too. People visit the temple from different cities and offer a lot of sevas. You might lose your pair of footwear once in a while during the crowded days but apart from that the temple is easily accessible. There’s parking little ahead and the nearest bus stop is hardly 200m away.

Amritheshwari still told that due to the curse of the Athiprabha she had no privilege to get children and hence she said to the Goddess to have children instead of asking them for her. Still the Goddess gave a providence to her that she would reach and mix up with her at the time of spiritual liberation of Khara by Ramachandra. She also said that often Shivalinga type Lingas would come up in the same place. Kumbhamukhi should assume those Lingas as her children. Therefore Amritheshwari would be called by the name “Mother of many children” (Halavu Makkala Tayi) and she would bless the devotees by staying there itself.

I had friends of kundapur telling me that its their Grama devathe and they said My son will b blessed here on as the Goddess is referred to as Halavu Makkala Thaayi Married couple without children pray here and there are case studies of child being born in their house.... After offering prayers here...

It is very divine and sacred temple with strong belief. This place is located between Udupi and Kundapura. Public transportation is convenient here. Inside of the temple is very beautiful and unique. The main attraction is Goddess Amrutheshwari surrounded by Lingas around the deity. Lingas are considered as the children goddess (In Kannada Halavu Makala Thayi).

Sri Amritheshwari Temple is situated in the Kota village just 20 meters away from the National Highway 66. Inside the garbhagudi of the temple, at three places, Lingas shaped like Shivalinga appear by itself which is an unique and not found anywhere throughout the country. Devotees from all overthe country come here and worship the godess to grant them the motherhood. Thus many number have revieved the blessings from the diety in one form or the other.An old tradition still prevails among the local devotees in around 14 nearby villages to offer a seva to the diety when a child is born in their family. Belakina Seve, Thulabhaara seve and applying oil to the Linga are considered to be of much importance. Right from many years it is a tradition to perform daily sevas of the diety by the priest belonging to the Dharmanaathi Panth of Naath community

I lived down the road at Padukere so I passed this temple almost daily, in fact I watched it being built, about 100 yrds down the road is the car park where the men worked day and night with just one light bulb and a 4in hand grinder to carve by hand the very hard granite, they made a fabulous job and it stands very proud painted in gold, if your going there yourself get to Kota and ask for Fisheries Road its at the top of the road unmissable once you turn into the lane, theres a very popular restaurant on the opposite side of the road, the owner and his son speak English but the food is definitely Indian you can get a meal for pennies, most of the food is spicy. A kilometer down the lane is a beautiful beach, you will pass a smelly fish factory but once at the beach you wont smell it.
