I love this venue, the bands that come through are amazing. The bar is great, rotating taps, over 20. Being able to see music in such an intimate setting is fantastic, and there is an outdoor area that frequently (prepandemic) got a lot of love. Bathrooms are epically awful, but still function. What more could a girl want?

This place is amazing. With a variety of shows coming through theres always something for everyone. The staff is always friendly, even when youve had a few too many drinks. In addition to it being a 3am bar, this place is the bees knees.Hop on their website and find a show! Even if its a group you dont know, the Riot Room is always welcoming to everyone.

A neat little dive bar and an intimate concert venue all wrapped in one. It attracts an eclectic crowd and a diverse range of musical artists. Its ideally located in the heart of Westport. Parking can be a little tricky, depending on the time/day. Every time Ive watched a show here, Ive had a pretty good experience.

Great locations for a wide arrange of music. The venue is very small so be sure to get here early for a good viewing spot. It also gets very close so bring thin layers. If you dont make it in time they have a couple of televisions on the back that can let you see the show with out the crowd.

Great, intimate venue. Holds 250, but there were only about 100 in the concert and that was perfect. The wide, affordable selection of beers made it seem as much a great taproom as a concert stage. Really got to be close to the bands without feeling crowded.

Ive been here for two separate shows. Both times there have been significant sound issues for multiple bands. The bathrooms are always out of paper towels and for the men, theres just a trough full of ice and no door. The bartenders and entrance/exit security staff for the outdoor and indoor stage were all very kind and I appreciated that they followed the rules for ID age verification, turning away those who preferred to make a stink despite it saying otherwise on their ticket. The first show there were a lot of moshers and people being run into in the back who were run into. As a result, drinks were spilled and glass ended up shattered several times. I didnt get the impression that this was any concern for security, but I felt it was getting out of hands several times. We had to move away because of the overly violent and watched from the bar area.At the second show there were absolutely no moshers and people seemed to respect the music. After the first two bands sound issues, the final band seemed to have their mix figured out and the show went off fantastically from start to finish. Unfortunately, the signing session was cut short as the venue had to rush the band out the door before Westports curfew rule. From what I understood, The Riot Room is not allowed to permit exiting out to or entering from the sidewalks on Broadway unless they accept a 1000$ fine as it is a security issue for Westport.

This a great intimate venue where you can catch amazing shows, with pretty big artists, in a smaller setting. You cannot see if youre not 59, at the very front of the venue, or happen to catch one of the covetted side stage spots. Meeting artists is super easy and common here. Getting the bartenders attention is next to impossible...but sometimes you get lucky and show up on a two bartender night. The bathrooms will make you wish you could just absorb the contents of your bladder instead of having to use the facilities. Its a good balance of putting up with...and experiencing the riot room. In the end, the musical experience is always worth it.Heres a photo of my intimate experience with Honus Honus from Man Man at the riot room.

I give it 4-stars only b/c of the setup on the inside. Not a huge venue; once you walk in the circular shaped bar is smacked dab in the middle. To the right of the bar, theres the stage and dance floor. On the left of bar theres a long huge couch that extends the entire length of the wall. It was comfortable - thats where I sat the whole evening. Lol! Other than that, it had a really cool, relaxed vibe. Still a dope place to hang, have fun with friends! Ill go back for sure.

Good bands, great bartenders serving good drinks at fair prices, fun intimate atmosphere. Sound quality is 50/50, sometimes great, sometimes not.I like that there are places to sit as I have back problems, but it is small and can be very cramped and uncomfortable when full, hard to get to the bar or vendors and drinks often knocked out of hands and all over just by trying to walk by due to the limited space. You cant turn around without bumping someone. Bathrooms rarely are in working condition, even for a bar scene.Staff is very nice and do the best they can with what they have to work with.

Small bar and music venue in what seems to be a pretty cool neighborhood. About half the venue is a bar space with a circular bar in the center, and the other half is standing room for watching live music. This area is elevated a step above the bar space, which would probably make it difficult for most people to see the stage if the main audience area is full. There were decent beers on tap and the service was Ok. The music sounded great, and the small stage and close quarters give performances an intimate feel. Id definitely go to another show here if the opportunity arises.

This is the place to be if you are into the underground in Kansas City. It would seem that most people dont know it is here. But if you catch the right band on the right night. You are in for a magical experience that you can get no where else in this city. They have the best beer selection in the city and the best bartenders around. You will see bands here that no place else will support. Rule of thumb for bands is simple....if you dont bring people dont expect to get paid. If people show up these guys will treat you right. Best sound! PERIOD
