Went to self check and the lady there didnt look like she wanted to be there. She didnt wipe anything down after people used it and just leaned by the exit and didnt look impressed with customers needing help

I love shopping here for the specials. The specials in their flyers are always a great saving and generally have lots of inventory on hand so its never a wasted trip there. I have found at Food Basics they have unique items in their international aisles that u wouldnt find anywhere else. The staff are always friendly and very helpful which is great to see. Stop in and check it out for yourself.

The staff is always super friendly, even when they are dealing with unruly shoppers. They keep the store clean and are very helpful when asked for help. I especially love the variety in their produce and international food depts. Prices are really reasonable as well.

They lost 3 of my stars because the last half dozen times Ive gone there the cashiers have just tossed my groceries on the conveyer belt like they dont care. Flattened bread isnt what I came for.....

Cheap prices but clean. Might have to wait longer then some to checkout when busy but the rock bottom prices make up for it imo. Produce can be hit and miss but mainly good if quantities are abundant.. Summer the best time of course.

Nit my favorite or first choice grocery store but convenient when needed. Hard to find or see products. Pretty clean. An ugly green is their company colour 😆 Prices are fair. Staff is good.

Went there last week for a covid vaccine and the pharmacist was quite rude becuase I was a little early. Next time Ill show up late or go elsewhere for my second shot. I didnt deserve to be talked down to for being early for an appointment!!!

This is my go-to weekly grocery and house hold needs stop. It is nice to see they are expanding their product brands everytime. Highly recommend!

They have a great selection and good stock. Prices are fair. Covid compliant for such a small store. Self check out. Longer lines because of lockdown but are doing their best. Please be kind to staff they are doing their best.

Lately fresh food prices are more exspensive here than other stores

Definitely not my favorite grocery store to shop at. Mainly b.c they dont price match and every time Ive been you have to wait forever to checkout.

Price are bit higher than no frills but are reasonably ok.

Recent renovation. Produce looks amazing compared to a year ago. They now have self checkouts. Friendly staff. Usually in stock on all items.

Its an okay grocery store. I typically only go if I have a few items to pick up, and save the larger grocery trips for No Frills.Usually good size lineups here, out of items and nothing looks like its been wiped down.2/5.

Everything I need here...Store looks great after new renovations & upgrades. Very nice people to talk to who work here. My daughter loves ❤ everybody and they love her too...Reminds me a touch of Metro. Love the new self checkout...5 Stars

Best place in town to do food shopping

Very competitive pricing with a full slate of products but they have recently added some rather crude crowd control measures that include what I would describe as a roped off corral for lining up for a cash register - a problem with this seems to arise once there are folks in line waiting for a regular cash register and you come along with a few products and want to use the self checkout - there is no separate pathway to the self check out hence you get in the line waiting - sort of defeats the purpose of fast self check outs - while this is in use, I will probably be shopping elsewhere - I prefer short trips to the store through self checkout which reduces time in the store as well as contact

It is pretty busy in there at the moment but it is still well stocked. Found what I was looking for.

Has a wide variety of things, and for someone that likes to shop more exotic foods it carries a nice selection. They seemed to have stopped carrying the seaweed paper I used to make sushi and I miss that.They have a lot of vegetarian options which I appreciate and the produce is usually pretty fresh. Sometimes they move things around so I have trouble finding something I typically buy, but that seems to be a common practice that is probably a decision made by the headquarters.The place is relatively easy to navigate with enough aisle space to get around.

I havent been to this store in quite sometime. The new layout and look of the overall store is good. I like it has self check outs now

Cashier talking instead of doing her job...5 min trip turns into 30 mins

They have one cashier and the rest are self check outs which I avoid using.

Cashier today was very rude asked to buy tickets and she informed me she had not logged into the machine and wasn’t going to until later I will have to come back in a few hours don’t understand why she had to be so rude

Never have the meat on sale as advertised very poor selection. I will not waist my time going back . Produce is very poor quality

Just the name suggests BASICS yes it is a store with basice pricing but more variety. They changed some isles into more systematic differentiation of product plus, they have great lockdown offers in store which is pretty sweet deals.

Terrible customer service at cash...young girl was cashing my order and ignored me tje entire time to speak to another cashier holding a clipboard.. its fine to talk with other employees when working I get it its boring but not when putting a big order through.store its self is fine.

Have had more then 1incident here was physically shoved into a shel cause I am medically exempt from wearing a mask. Had my windshield smashed.in parking lot. Due to masks causing me sezieure

Busy tonight. They dont clean the conveyor belt between customers like NoFrills does. Most employees were friendly, one was a little bit huffy, but it was busy, and maybe shes had a long day.

Great prices on your grocery

Prices are pretty decent and parking isnt as hectic as No Frills. Employees are friendly and helpful for the most part. Only real gripe is that you have to lend a quarter to use the shopping carts. Which in my opinion is redundant, as it wouldnt prevent a determined individual from stealing a cart. Instead it just creates an unnecessary annoyance for those who prefer to NOT carry a pocket full of coins.In short: If youre going to shop here and cant get by with just a basket make sure to carry a quarter on you so you can access their shopping carts.

Some of the best pricing in town. Veggies are always fresh. I particularly love the INTERNATIONAL aisle with all the ethnic foods. The staff is always helpful when you cannot find an item...No need to shop anywhere else, they have it all here and priced right.

I am giving Food Basics a 4 star rating but really they are not exactly a four but they are not a three either. I prefer to round up , much like they do with prices. This store is normally kept clean and tidy although I wish they would decide where things are going and keep them there. It seems every time I shop there I am spending the at least five minutes determining where I am going.The staff are well trained, polite and approachable. Staff from individual sections are knowledgeable about the products they sell and are always willing to answer questions or address concerns. Security is a bit stiff I admit but I take it as a sign of the times. Random people have been seen, stopped on the way out, to have bags or pockets inspected. As for well I will just say that they are competitively priced and, since it is a neighborhood store, the other customers are friendly and also helpful ( usually)

Was there this morning. Store is set up for success during COVID but my young cashier did not wipe anything down between people and charged me 2 bags when I asked for three then ran away for break or lunch before giving me the bags and before I was done bagging my groceries. Not sure I will go back anytime soon.

Horrible customer service! Called yesterday to ask if there was anyone there to help me with Western Union and they said yes come in tomorrow afternoon. Called in today in advance to make sure they were in and they said yes. Went in and was told that there’s two lady’s who could do it but “they just don’t want to” !!! Called the manager just to be told it’s not that they don’t want to help it’s just busy and I said yes I understand that but I was told I could come in today. Then he proceeds to talk to the girl who could help me and then lie to me and chance the story saying there’s no one here to help me now and to come back tomorrow and they can MAYBE help me then. I asked if he could help me then and he said no I don’t know how sorry and said “can’t you wait for your groceries?” Like No I can’t but You’re giving me no choice. Overall horrible service! Jazzmine and Joan are the lady’s who could’ve helped but were lazy and got off with “I don’t want to”.

If youre looking for a cheaper place to do your groceries this store is it!! Typically they have friendly staff and the store is clean. They usually have a lot of great deals on inside the store. This is the grocery store my family uses all the time and we have never had an issue.

Was treated very rudely, and abrupt, by the employee, that was overseeing the self checkout area. Had some questions. She was very dismissal. My opinion. Go to Metro!!!!!

A few years ago it was a bit of a scruffy place but the last couple years has greatly improved. Great produce, meats, and many choice products. Prices are very hard to beat. GREAT STORE

Cheaper costs but still great products. I found everything I was looking for without problems except for quiche... Couldnt find that at all. Friendly staff mostly. One girl at the cash was very rude though, not to me but to another customer that I overheard.

A quiet store a majority of the time. All products are easy to find. One of the better options for deal shopping, just watch the 2/$ deals, they arent always saving you money.

Best place in Sarnia to purchase groceries! Their produce is pretty fresh, their prices are usually the lowest prices and the best value, and their selection is magnificent. I always shop for my groceries here because I know Ill always get great deals on all the food I normally buy.

Moved from Alberta and I was happy to finally find Mama noodles, my favorite, after looking for months elsewhere. Great veggie section as well.

The layout doesnt make sense. Since the installation of the self checks cashiers are backed way up.

Line up was very slow. I only had 5 items, 2 if which were ice cream. I went to express. Clearly they shouldve able to tell people if they have way too many items for that line. She also had to keep going over to sell tickets, while my ice cream was melting.

My go to. Dont expect luxury...but prices are 25% less than its upscale counterparts.

The employees are happy if you need anything they will look for you.i am very happy to shop there
