Eggs Royale are amazing, Im becoming a regular for this meal. All staff are superb too.

We visited for the first time today and it certainly won’t be our last. The food we had was delicious and the customer service was exceptional.

This is the 2nd time I have visited The Chocolate Cafe and was extremely disappointed! Our party of 3 arrived to allow plenty of time to eat before they closed - or so we thought! There was a queue of people waiting to be seated when we arrived so we had a short wait. We had another wait before our waitress came and asked whether we had ordered. We gave her our order and about 10 minutes later she returned to tell us none of the items we had ordered were available. We gave her another order. We then had an extremely long wait and were about to question where our food was when the waitress returned and informed us our order had not gone through, she didnt know why and offered us a round of drinks to compensate (we had almost finished our drinks as we had been waiting so long). Obviously we then had yet another wait for our food to arrive. I ordered tuna, onion and cheese ciabatta, which although it tasted very nice, was only luke warm. Ham sandwich was lovely as was the bacon barm.When we had eaten we asked the waitress if we could order dessert and she informed us they had taken last order so no, we couldnt! I was NOT very happy about this. We had not been informed when they were taking last orders, otherwise we would have ordered our deserts then and it was the staffs fault that it was so late when we finished eating our mains. Not impressed!As replied to below, I was offered a full refund after posting this review on their Facebook page and being given the excuse that their staff were rusty after 6 months off due to covid - seems to be the go to excuse for bad service these days. I received a message off Google asking me to post a review - so I did. As for staff being upset - I was upset by the way they treated my friends and I. Considering the expensive prices they charge I would expect better and if they can afford to turn down orders due to their own staffs failings then things havent been that hard.

Love the.cafe. Friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere and excellent food. Highly recommended the brunch menu. 5 stars all round.

We visited the Chocolate Cafe yesterday for breakfast, the staff were really polite and friendly. We were served really quickly and the food was top notch, our 11year old daughter lived he milkshake with Chocolate and biscuit as it was huge, definitely recommended for families to visit

Our first experience of the Chocolate Cafe and wow! Unbelievable food and service! The chef is clearly extremely talented. The menu was perfect and I made a great choice in Eggs Royale. Absolutely amazing food, drinks and we will be back 😋 😀

Edited review - visited The Chocolate Cafe, we all loved it. We left disappointed though that we wouldnt be able to return when restrictions lift and the cafe returns to indoor trading, due to the cafe being upstairs and our son being in a wheelchair and no disabled access.However, Ian, the head chef, took the time to contact me after reading my review and he has made a suggestion as to how the cafe can accommodate us even when they are not trading outdoors. We honestly can not thank Ian enough for taking the time to contact us and to organise accommodating us all at The Chocolate Cafe so that we can return with our little boy. Thank you and we cant wait to come back!

Visited this small but sweet cafe last weekend. Chose the banoffee belgian waffle. I could not believe the size of it when they brought it over. Shall be back again when hopefully the chocolate shop will be open downstairs!

The chocolate cafe is a fantastic place to go for a drink and get a bite to eat. They have a great collection of desserts with lots of choice. The main menu gives you things like toasties, beans on toast, salads and so much more. They have a great atmosphere and fantastic staff who are always pleasant and helpful.

Not a particularly exciting interior, but the milk chocolate hot chocolate with Baileys was honestly the best hot chocolate Ive ever had. Absolutely delicious.

Lovely cafe! It was my boyfriend and I first time out since the end of lockdown and we chose this place since they had tables outside. The owner and the staff were lovely and the food was great. Really loved the beetroot salad, generous portion! Will definitely come back :)

A wonderful little place. Food was really good and the staff/owner are so friendly.Kids lunchboxes are a cardboard replica of the shop which is tremendous fun and the milkshakes are incredible.

A friend invited me here when I was working in Manchester, the food is absolutely delicious.The banana waffle was always a favourite of mine.They have lotta of other food too including some really a runny looking salads and a good selection of drinks, both hot and cold.

We always pop in when we come the Ramsbottom and find that the staff are very friendly and we highly recommend the choclate mocha!! Yummmmmy!

Absolutely beautiful cafe, and brilliant childrens play area. Would absolutely go again. Quite possibly the best chocolate cake Ive ever had! It was really easy to relax, and theyve thought of everything for babies/children...even down to the baby change set up. Thank you

Delicious food and excellent service. I definitely recommend the seabass on a bed of roasted ratatouille, and the chicken salad which contained loads of chicken. Good anti-Covid measures in place too.

The was the first time in this area, but this place caught our eye, I mean why wouldnt it when home made chocolate is mentioned. We had yea/coffee and a snack. The place is quite quirky and was packed out at the time, but the staff still did well to get us all served. Our food and drinks were nice and we couldnt help b3grab some home made chocolates on the way out after. Trying some testers. Recommended!

I visited here during my return to the UK over Christmas, and I have to express my dissatisfaction at the drop in quality over recent years.Although the high quality of the chocolate remains the same, everything else has changed, in particular the attitude of the staff; as we walked in two of the staff are sat at a service desk on the shop floor eating food, not a snack, a full plate of food, whilst browsing on their phones. They did not greet us.As we inquire upstairs, we are told it is full and that is where the conversation abruptly ended. No estimation as to how long a wait it might be or suggestion of alternatives, no remorse or empathy.On our trudge downstairs we thought we’d browse the remaining stock. I do concede it would have been a very busy periods for a chocolate cafe but the shelves were as bare as Mother Hubbard’s cupboard. The two staff members remained eating and casually browsing on their smartphones. We did remark on this and asked if there was any more stock but were met with ‘yeah, it’s been really busy.’ And again a potential conversation and customer relations building opportunity ended as abruptly as the last.After this we admitted defeat and left, battered into submission by the abject failure of service.None of which helped by the smell of what I’d assume to be milk that has turned.I was an absolutely huge fan of the chocolate cafe, going as far as to have my favorite bars sent overseas, but this experience has left such an impact I felt it important to share.I’d hope this changes soon and We can go back to enjoying the chocolate as much as we should.

Really enjoyed it. The staff were super friendly and when you have children this makes the experience so much better. Would go again.

Super! The Chocolate Cafe has everything; delicious chocolate, great service, chocolate, nice drinks... Chocolate... Did I mention the chocolate is great and in almost everything? Its not the cheapest place on earth, but then its really nice and well run, with a lot of thought put into the food, so its not going to be...

I was expecting an elaborate chocolate - themed extravaganza. What I got was a solid cafe with some extra chocolate items on the menu. All perfectly fine but the name suggests a different experience

Booking in advance is recommended. Its a smallish cafe and its not the cheapest, but the staff are great and the food isnt bad, although thats not really what youre going for. The flavoured hot chocolate drinks can be a little odd (mint syrup in the bottom of one was not pleasant) but stick with the favorites and youll be very satisfied.

Chocolate heaven. I didnt know you could have so many options for a hot chocolate, I went with butterscotch, good choice, it was delicious. The whole build your own luxury hot chocolate thing was fun, tip: tale a couple of sips before adding anything (trust me it results in spillage if you dont, learned that the hard way, lol) The angel cake is very sweet. I may have overdosed on sweetness...😀 may have to return to Ramsbottom just to visit again!

Delicious but my friend got their dessert quickly but mine came 10 mins later so my friend had already finished his before I got mine.

Good selection of food and more interesting than most.Service is friendly and its often busy.A little pricey for the nature of the food IMO, but a good place to treat the kids.

Worst service ever. Ordered waters and food, then waited while they cleaned the whole restaurant before they brought them to us. Were sat for 15 minutes without anything. Watched as the poor young lad working there was treated pretty poorly by the other staff. Not impressed.

A cafe that specialises in chocolate? Awesome. Food was great as was the chocolate. Can get super busy though, you can tell when they gave signs on the wall saying one hour wait if the queue is here.... Still very worth it though.

Walked into the shop downstairs and was told abruptly that they were full upstairs, whilst my husband and I were trying to negotiate getting our pushchair out of the shop we were told again that they were full. Didnt get an opportunity to even look at the chocolate, extremely rude female staff member, will not be recommending nor returning.

AMAZING! We came to the cafe, after purchasing chocolate from a stall at Lincoln markets - to which we realised the company is Lancashire based (and where were originally from). We all had the afternoon tea, the food is delicious, cakes out of this world, hot chocolates are to die for (especially salted caramel!) and the chocolate is just another level. I cant wait to visit again next time were back visiting family in Lancashire.

A nice place and good food but I feel its a little overpriced for what it is. Also the cafe is upstairs. So babies have to be carried up and and their prams left downstairs. its also inaccessible for ppl in wheelchairs or ppl with mobility problems. For these reasons it definitely loses a star
