Visited on 1st August 2021. It is open but now it has been moved to mahila haat. Shops will start getting set up on the pavement before 3 pm but the haat gate opens after 3:30 pm and all shops are set up more or less by 4:00-4:15 pm. Best time to visit is after 4pm since almost all the shops will be set up inside mahila haat by then and it will be easier to find the books and compare prices from shop to shop. Common popular books will be available on most stalls but some books can be hard to find. Bargain accordingly. Prepare a list of books beforehand to save time.

Open market with multiple sellers for books.Look for the white decorations if youre coming for the first time. The market opened at 10am today (10th Jan 2021) and the cheaper books were out after 11:30. There was barely any crowd at 11.The sellers can be bargained with. But there are also sellers who outright offer books at 20 each.Worth a visit for anyone whos into reading. Also a decent variety of study material books for students.I got about 11 books of varying prices at a total of 410.

Review №16

As if the book stalls are available both outside and inside the mahila haat and the books are sold at the half rate but the buyer need to quotes the amount of 50% of the price told by seller as the books are repetitive at each stall and a book could be find out at more than one stall so there is no worry. And the books available are vary in variety as in ncert,cbse,novels,storybooks,children-friendly books, and many other academic and non-academic related books. It is awesome to visit the market on the sunny day otherwise the book sellers went away due to rain as the books get ruined. The other side of the market also has some of the book sellers and might give a great deal than other book sellers. The important thing is you have to bargain for your book. And went there if you want to take a lot of books to read then only it is worth it.

For a bibliophile, this place is heaven-made-true. The collection of books here can rival any library. But the reason we all love this place is the discount!! From 50% to even 90%, you will find books here at unbelievable discounted rates. Under 1000 bucks, you can go home with am entire book shelf.Tip 1: Lookout for pirated copies. Check the glue on binding and print quality. Try to avoid pirated copies wherever you can, they dont last long.Tip 2: Explore the whole market before buying anything. You might find the same book at a lower price on another stall.Tip 3: Dont hesitate from buying second-hand copies. They are likely to be genuine, and if the condition is right, you can enjoy the lovely old-book smell of the paper.Hope it helps...

Nearest metro station :- Delhi Gate (Violet Line)Along the sidewalks at Daryaganj, scores of hawkers with makeshift kiosks are selling second hand books ranging from dictionaries, novels to old magazines. One can even find a copy or two of the 1988 edition of the Constitution of India lying around in the weekly market that assembles every Sunday. The Daryaganj Sunday Book Market is not the kind of market you’re used to seeing in Delhi, so don’t go there expecting big shops with books on display in glass cases and helpful attendants who will look for the books you want. The new and old books will be lined up on the pavements quite neatly so that you can easily peruse through all the titles. But sometimes, you’ll have to rummage through a giant pile of books yourself so get ready to get your hands dirty!I don’t think you can ever be prepared for the sheer volume of books you’re going to see: there are thousands upon thousands of books for sale and they’re going to be dirt cheap! If you hunt around, you might find beautiful copies of some famous reads, first editions and even signed copies.

This is such an amazing place. I regret that did not know about it sooner. It is like a big vegetable market but instead of vegetables you have books. The place is essentially heaven for novel readers and book lovers. And even if you are not, you really should give this place a visit just for the experience of it. This book market has all kinds of books fiction and non fiction, academic material, professional books, books for children et cetera. The most attractive thing about this place is the price, you can buy books for as low as Rs 20, hell, you can buy books by weight. But you must bargain hard, they will eventually come down to your rate. The only negative thing is, you really have to look hard to find what you are looking for, it is nothing like a book store where books are organized. You have to go to vendor by vendor and look out for what you need by yourself. Also asking vendors for what you need most of time does not help, and so it can take a lot of time finding what you want. I guess that is why it is on Sundays.
