Major Dhyan Chand national stadium is situated near India gate and is very Astheticly built by government. Nice stadium with all required stuff for sport, trained professional coaches and training on demand is very good here.The stadium covers a massive area of 17,500 square metres in the 37-acre (150,000 m2) complex. It has three synthetic pitches out of which two adhere to international standards and a third is used for practice purposes. In recent renovations, new polygrass turf has been laid on all pitches and they are equipped with new sprinkler systems.The main field has a seating capacity for about 16,200 spectators and the second pitch outside the main arena has 900 permanent seats and arrangements can be made for 1,600 temporary seats. The two competitive pitches are flood-lit with foldable floodlight towers (hinged mast lights) which provides 2,200 lux illumination during the competition. This assists in enabling high definition TV transmission.Both the pitches are outfitted with amenities like changing rooms for players, easy lounges and a VVIP lounge. The stadium is full air-conditioned and has lifts; there are obstruction free provisions for athletes and spectators who are physically challenged. The stadium gets steady power supply from two grids which has a backup based on generator sets and battery uninterrupted power supply.The renovation also includes some ‘Green Initiatives’, like Recycling of turf curing of water, Thermal insulation of roof, Rain water collection and reuse, Use of waterless urinals etc.One can avail of shuttle services from Pragati Maidan, Udyog Bhavan, Mandi House, Khan Market, Central Secretariat, Barakhamba Metro Station to reach National Stadium, Delhi.

The place has quite a big parking lot which is free. The stadium is very big and really spacious with good seating. Good staff and the security is very tight here.

National Stadium. Major Dhyan Chands statues makes it unique. Also, holds the office for Clean Ganga Fund. It was my first experience to any hockey stadium, liked it. It also holds various cultural events as well.

The 52nd Statesman Vintage & Classic Car Rally 2018 was held here today (11th Feb). Some of the rarest of the rare cars on display for few hours. Buick, Cadillac, Studebaker, Fiat, Riley, Rolls Royce, Chevrolet, Ford, Bentley, Plymouth, and lots more! Coupled with live retro music. Truly amazing experience of watching vintage cars passing by, listening to Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong - What a wonderful world!

Jashn-e-rekhta program was organised in this stadium and that was such a nice program and this stadium is also very big.

Spacious,well organised place, amazing events are organised here all the time.. although the main stadium area needs a bit restructuring and maintenance to make it look lively again.

The Major Dhyan Chand National Stadium commonly known by its former name, National Stadium is a field hockey stadium in New Delhi, India. The stadium is named after former Indian field hockey player, Dhyan Chand. It served as the venue for the 1st Asian Games in 1951.The stadium was built in 1933 as a gift for Delhi from the Maharaja of Bhavnagar, it was originally multipurpose stadium and named the Irwin Amphitheatre. It was designed by Anthony S. DeMillo and opened by Lord Willingdon. As per the original plans of architect of New Delhi Edwin Lutyens there was to be garden at the site, to provide a clear view of the historic Purana Quila (Old Fort) in the backdrop, as it lay perpendicular to the axis beginning from Rashtrapati Bhavan (Presidents House) through Rajpath and ending at the India Gate, his plans were however overruled. It was renamed National Stadium before the 1951 Asian Games, Dhyan Chands name was added in 2002...

Good place to practice and play Hockey, Swimming, Kabbadi,yoga, tennis and cricket. National hockey matches has been also played in this stadium. A very good Gym of national level is also available in the stadium.

Here for Jashn-E-Rekhta. Beautiful festival. The eating joints are amazing, food is delectable especially from Nuris.This is here on 14th,15th & 16th December.Definitely deserves a visit or two! Thank you @Rekhta Foundation for organizing this!

I recently visited this place for an event Jashn-e-Rekhta. Its very spacious. There are lots of events like cultural, sports and different activities happening here often. Security is very nice. Place is very neat and clean.

Preety good houses the offices of NMCG, Coastal Guards and MHA FCRA Cell. Entries allowed only from Gate nO. 3 opposite Delhi High Court or Indian Coast Garud board.

1st time when I visit this place in 2015, the beauty of the ground and the practice area was good.In the year 2018 it becomes worst because of low maintenance.In 2015 I can see players are practicing hockey now I can see players practicing cricket over there in the practice ground.So many events are conducted in the free parking area like Max Bupa health walk(every year feb) and govt events.

Named after the great hockey player of time Major Dhyan chand this stadium is located in the hexagonal road of India gate next to coast guard headquarter. One of the office of the Ministry of home affairs is located in the stadium. This stadium has a capacity of approximately 14000+. It a beautiful and well maintained stadium.

Jashn-e-rekhta is a non-profitable foundation. I attended in this programme . Jashn- e-rekhta foundation was celebrating to urdu culture in india. Urdu is an Indian origin language. Urdu is an heart touching language.This foundation is doing well in the field to bond indian people. . Major dyanchand stadium was an enough place for this event.It was an amazing experience.Thanks to Rekhta foundation.

It is amazing place to visit as I visit there for Jashn-E-Rekhta fest. The place is quit interesting as there are 7 gates.

Great place, with lots of space both internally and externally to host events and have fun. Has ample space for parking, is near to metro stations, has nice entry and exit points which are very well managed mostly. The gates allow space and are constructed in a way to avoid problems in a crowd. The stadium is cozy to sit in and enjoy all kinds of events.

I visited it during Jash E Rekhta event. The space is enough. The only drawback is, it is far from the nearest metro station. Also, food options near to stadium is less.

One of the highly sensitive and full of security. It doesnt have only play ground and swimming pools but also top most high profile office of the Delhi.The hockey ground is made of artificial grass with lots of investment under the supervision of the world most important and experienced firm.Its right close to the India gate. Major Dhyana Chand was known for hockey stick with magic. He could show miracles on the ground.
