It is certainly a Landmark place/monument of India which people of all walks of life come throughout the year to pay homage [those who know that it was built in 1931 and names of martyrs of World War-I are inscribed on its walls] or just comes to enjoy green empty spaces and trees or weather. But wait! India Gate was built by britishers. India got its own national war memorial [राष्ट्रीय समर(युद्ध)स्मारक] on 26 February 2019 just behind India Gate and new Amar Jawan Jyoti in the middle. It is just not ordinary place to pay obeisance but a splendidly beautiful pilgrimage. It is built in memory of our martyrs of conflicts/battles/wars fought with Pakistan, Pakistan sponsored infiltrators and China from 1947 to 1962 to 1965 to 1971 to 1999 and years in between. Martyrs names are inscribed at eye level in granite in golden colour lined up in rows and lit up colourfully. Every battle is Explained bilingually. Must visit in day and also in night. All day open till 7:30pm.

The Amar Jawan Jyoti is a tribute to the martyred Indian soldiers, placed just beneath the India Gate, which is a war memorial built by Edward Lutyens in memory of 70,000 Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the British army during the World War I. It is quite a worth walk from the Central Secretariat metro station to this monument by the magnificent Rajpath embracing the countless pillars of the Indian democracy! The view of the Ministry of Defence, South Block and North Block Parliament(Finance Ministry) through the never-ceasing fire of Amar Jawan Jyoti under India Gate makes one remember the Doordarshan TV footages of the Republic Day Parade.

You can take Delhi Metro as the convenient transit to board upto Khan Market Metro Station or Mandi House Metro Station (Both are approx 2 Km from India Gate)I suggest all to take prepaid taxis if you want ( Uber or Ola) instead of overcharged Auto Rickshaws. Also I recommend you to take your brunch from NDMCs Outlet instead of any hawkers, as they will overcharge you like hell.Or if youre looking for Restaurants or Other Fast-food Chain then you should move towards Khan Market.
