The Karnala Fort is spectacular. The Fort is a 2 hour climbs thats a little steep in places. Entrance to the Sanctuary and Fort is together. Up and down for the fort will take 3-4 hours depending on pace. Dont carry plastic stuff there is checking when you go in. There are some decent food options inside - watch out for monkeys while eating.

This place is very systematic , right from the parking till the end. If you are carrying any use and throw plastic then you have to deposit 100 rupees and you can get it back while returning. Trek is easy to moderate. Many inclined rocky patches are their. But if you are fit you can do it even if its your first trek.

A good trekking place 💯 . Go there fully equipped with water and first-aid . As it takes 2 hr to reach top without stop . Also it takes more time for any emergency medical staff or any forest rangers to come . But well managed by staff of sanctuary. 35 - 40 per ticket ,100 rs for parking vehicle , 100- 200 rs if any camera there

Entire sanctuary is in a dire need of a makeover. Poor birds are kept in dirty cages. Kite enclosure is the worst. Its a small cage with more than 10 kites that has little to no light in even in day time. Other birds include 1 Peacock, few Parrots, and white and grey Cockatoos (thats what they are called, right? I might be wrong). In short pet shop birds are kept in a better condition than this place. Good place for a short hike.

U have to deposit 100rs for all plastic packets of chips, bottle etc to take and u wil get refund once u bring back all. There is a canteen operated by ladies which offer very good at reasonable rates. Go early morning u can also march towards fort for jungle experience. Best time to visit is monsoons.

Either you go for birding or trekking. Cant do both simultaneously. The trek is a bit difficult for beginners. But the sanctuary is a home for a vast variety of biodiversity. its usually crowded in weekends. So I wasnt able to spot birds due to crowd and the noise they make.I really appreciate the effort that management takes to keep the zone plastic free.. they check your bags and keep account of how many plastic covers are took inside and recheck for the same while exit. 👏🏻

Excellent place to trek with family, first it is very near to Panvel and second proper path to trek. I traveled on 24th July thinking due to heavy rains it won’t be crowded. But I was amazed to see at least thousand enthusiastic people came from all parts of Mumbai to enjoy the weather and Jungle. Loved the arrangements for parking and Paid 35/- head entry fees and 100/- for car parking. Trek till Fort can be split in 5-6 parts, and every part is having different levels of difficulty and excitement, half way is composed with few steps from starting point then big boulders and some places had to negotiate path inside tree roots, but lovely path. After crossing half way we can see the beauty both sides of pathway, sone part is plane but still 3 sections where path was not simple and we had to cross big boulders, tree roots. Finally last leg is climbing those iron railings steps, some steps were quite big, those may be little inconvenient for house ladies, but it doesn’t stop our strong women to conquer them too💪🏻. After reaching on top, spectacular view was the feast which helps in forgetting all trouble of trekking. Must visit with family and friends.. if possible carry 2 bottles of water, wear full sleeves, stick will be helpful.Rains have made my Descending tough bcoz red soil was slipping but finally got down safely. Before leaving campus do take some rest with Lemon water and Missal Pav from nearby canteen and pleasantly it was run efficiently by only Ladies👏🏼👏🏼.

Best place for trekking which is so close to Mumbai, 55km from Dadar. Descent is bit slipperry coz of monsoon. Dense greenery everywhere. Would recommend to enter by 7 am coz later it starts crowding. Entry ticket 35. Bike/car parking 25/100. Tasty maharashtrian breakfast/lunch( veg & nonveg ) available at canteen located down only. Once we start trekking nothing available for food or drink, so carry your own stuff. Trek to karnala fort is moderate difficult for a casual trekker. Will take around 1.5 hours if climb is nonstop. Journey & destination both are beautiful. Many photo/selfi/video opportunities everywhere. Small waterfall also on the way if you take a little detour. Didnt see many birds though. There are few caged birds at the starting. Do carry first-aid kit & cap. Kids above 6 years would find it comfortable to climb on their own.

Karnala bird sanctuary is a mini bird sanctuary. Do not expect a big sanctuary before you plan a trip here. Birds are caged in a very bad scenario. Environment is good for birds if set free as its a very large area and kind of dense forestation. Total greenary near Navi Mumbai Panvel. It has a entry fees of 100 Rs for car and 37 Rs entry fees for adults and 15 for kids.Bottles are allowed with refundable 100 Rs so that you do not throw bottles inside. Good initiative I liked. Cleanliness starts here.Birds are few like Kite, parrot, 1 peacock 🦚 etc. You are a food joint inside managed by govt. A trek to Karnala fort is a must try for fitness enthusiast and fort lovers. Its a good area for picnics too. Many school bus are seen here.It has a childrens play area too and is currently in a good shape. All slides are in good condition.A couples are normal here as it is a secluded area at many places. People even brings their own food and can have inside. No issues for own food.Trek is good to start in early morning else afternoon time is not recommended here to come as sun is too harsh and will tire you asap. Banners are available at many places which gives good environmental knowledge for kids starting from photosynthesis , flower names, fun facts etc. This is a must read. Many small treks are available and are comfortable for small strech walk. Only the karnala fort trek is hiking area and needs proper shoes too. Dslr charges are 100 rs. Plan a visit soon for small picnic with family away from the city hustle bustle.

If you are going towards the Karnala fort, be well prepared. It’s a tough rigorous upwards climb. Not for little kids even teenage kids will need to be watched. Uphill mostly with rocks and boulders on way.Took me 2 hours to go up and less than 2 hours to come down in a very leisurely pace. Some of the points to remember. Entry fee Rs 135 if you take your vehicle and park outside the park. Without vehicle only Rs 35.1. Take two full bottles of water ( for one person)( I kept drinking)2. Lunch/ snacks if you are going in the day3. Hat/cap5.trekking shoe6. Sunscreen7. SunglassesRestaurants at the start of the sanctuary only. No restaurants on way.Lot of monkeys on way. Never open your food bag with them around. They snatch it. It’s a steep climb at some of the points. I tired easily. Take rest and continue with easy pace.
