Its delicious! Their portions are generous especially for the sashimi or nigiri. I love their raw scallops and their broiled eel. It isnt traditional sushis are more a fusion. If we rely on the traditional flavor, I would say its halfway there. Theres no flavor in the rice to give an example. But as a fusion sushi, its very good and the seafood is very fresh! The presentation is beautiful too. Ill be back for more.

Was so happy to discover that this jewel of a restaurant was still opened. Few month back went to their old address and saw a closes sing and was very sad. Anyhow turns out they moved a few blocks away. Went last night with some friend and they didn’t disappoint all was very good and fresh. The dessert was attacked before I could take a pic but do try the green tea cheesecake and friend bananas Will come back Bonus still a BYOB resto

Very good service, staff is nice and has a good attitude. Chefs are outstanding in their visual presentations, and the food tastes as good as it looks. I highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys Japanese cuisine. I would come back again.

My food experience at Yuukai was incredible... I went for the first time on December 30th and I am still dreaming about the mix of flavors that I tasted. We were 4, we only order from the chalkboard and every dish had something special. I highly recommend this place. Staff was friendly and in bonus its a BYO.

The food is VERY delicious, but the service is good to be better. We were waiting for my order more then an hour, because they made a wrong dish. Probably is better to make a pictures of the dishes, because not to many people in Montreal could anderstand in Japanese

They changed their location, but still great as before ! We asked for carte blanche, let the chef decides whats best ! They had a new arrival of tuna ! We had the cheeks, the tuna head, the pizza sushi was a delight and the salmon tartare on the mint tempura was amazing ! Everything was top notch ! Please come here, you wont regret it! I will always come eat here if i want japanese craving. This is not your typical japanese, it has a personal touch and the staff is very nice! :)Also, its a byow ! How better can it get !!?

Sushi and rolls are very creative in their flavors but tend to be very sweet. The service was great and the setting and ambiance is great for everything from a casual night out with friends to a nice date. Easily the best sushis I had in my life, almost everything they offer tastes like heaven. The service is also very good. The prices really arent much higher than what you pay for in a all-you-can eat, but the fish and rice are much fresher. I will be going back to Yuukai for sure and I think everyone who likes sushi should try out this restaurant.

Hands down the most reliably good sushi in town. I eat my sushi without soya sauce so as to not cover the real taste, and this is the only spot that I actually enjoy the flavors.

Use to think it was the best Sushi in town. I have been there at least a dozen times. But they became inconsistent with their sushi. Putting pretty much NOTHING in the rolls wed order. We mentioned it one time and they said we were right and took it back. The 3rd time we went after that it happened AGAIN. Both times we noticed the sushi makers kept eyeballing us. Not sure what that was about since we always leave a 35% tip. Never going back again.EDIT: Tried again this month 2021... still mediocure and barely any fish.

I recently visited the new location and am glad that Yuukai is back! However, I was very disappointed that escolar was taken off the menu (it was my favorite). Please consider bringing it back, its the main reason my family and I keep coming back! Specialty sushis were amazing usual :)

I want to start by saying that the staff is wonderful. The overall experience was underwhelming and I wouldnt call this Japanese fusion. The food presentation is very pretty and attention to detail was appreciated, however here are my quips. We were a group of 5 and we had a chance to try quite a few items. My issue with this place is that they call it Japanese fusion, however, just because a place uses words like gyoza, udon, and sushi, doesnt mean it tastes Japanese. The food was clearly Chinese-tasting. I love Chinese food and thats why I was disappointed when I thought I was getting japanese fusion. Ive had authentic Japanese food (in Tokyo and locally), and this restaurant clearly uses the word fusion as a disguise for Chinese food. Here are the plates we ate:1. The gyoza: they were dumplings that were not made the way gyoza are usually made. They were soft, not crispy on the outside. The stuffing was very odd-tasting. It wasnt quite meat since the consistency was also very soft. It felt boiled down somehow. The gyoza are clearly just Chinese dumplings.2. The pizza sushi: it was extremely flat compared to other places that dress it up with toppings. The base was bland and it tasted like something I would make for my grandma who is wary of flavors.3. The ribs: very flavorful but equally dry. For the price you are paying, you get about 8-10 pieces that are about 1.5 inches big.4. Some sushi: the sushi tasted good but nothing exceptional as many people claimed it to be. The good thing about the sushi is that they tasted fresh so I wouldnt disvourage anyone from eating the sushi there.5. Oishii sushi dessert: this was a dessert sushi that was wrapped in rice paper. It has a chocolate rice crispy filling, and fruits. It was very underwhelming in flavor, and just sweet. It didnt really deserve its price. I would have paid 5$ for it, but not double (as I paid). It pretty much tasted like chocolate rice crispies with fruits.6. The fried ice cream: the fried part was inconsistent and rubbery. It was a struggle getting to the ice cream bc the dough was not fried beautifully, instead it had a rubbery texture and some parts of it were just hard to chew. The ice cream itself was black sesame flavor and it was fairly decent-tasting.
