Visited here back in 2019 for a birthday lunch. It was quite the experience. We’ve never seen a restaurant with so many items on the menu and so many versions of Biryani. All the food we had were flavourful and delicious. The staff were friendly, helpful, and very patient with our large group. No item was missed or forgotten. Service was great. Everything went by smoothly. Quite remarkable as everyone was happy with the experience. Definitely worth revisits to try other items from the vast menu.

I guess it is overly hyped. I ordered chicken dum biryani and chicken korma. The chicken gravy and the biryani rice flavor was great. But the chicken was extremely hard. I guess it was frozen chicken placed in the gravy and the rice. Disappointing first experience. However will try one more time when near the area. Hopefully they will live to their reviews.

We ordered Khuska Doon, Jaisalmeri Murgh Banjara and Dum ka murgh biriyani. Both khuska doon and Jaisalmeri murgh banjara were beyond expectation tasty.Their presentation, quantity and quality were upto the mark. Although for biriyani we found it bit more spicy than we were expecting but still I would say it is better than many other places.

Went with the 1.7K reviews of 4.3 and ordered online. Had very high expectations as the average Indian cuisine is pretty good in the area.I was disappointed with the food. We ordered Paneer Lababdar and Biryani. Both were very blended and tasteless. We had given instructions of spicy level as well while ordering. But, it doesnt seem that restaurant had followed. Paneer Lababdar tasted like khoya kaju. Had to given up on this dinner and had some frozen paratha instead!Try some good restaurants in the area. Dont waste your money.

The food was delicious. The staff was very friendly too. Service was good. I loved the interiors. Its a very cozy place. Its nice when you have to go there for a celebration because the food is great too! The prices are a little high when compared to the quantity. The only reason why I wouldnt go there again is because there are very limited options for vegetarians. Im a vegetarian and when I go to a restaurant I want to have a lot of options, which is what I expected to have here as well. But when I read the menu I had only about 5-6 options in veg main course out of which I only actually liked the one. And another thing which I did not like was how they had named their dishes. When we are reading the menu we quickly go through to see which ones we like. Here I had to read the description of each dish to actually know what the dish was. I wouldnt recommend this place for vegetarians. But if you prefer to eat non veg then this is a good place to go to.

Loved the place!!! Ambience was very nice and the concept of palace suits the place. We were first given a tour of the space. It is said to be one of the oldest buildings in Mississauga and it has been maintained very well. They offered a complimentary welcome drink which exactly had the taste of what we used to have in India - a mint and lemon drink mix. One thing I liked is that their menu is divided into parts according to the places in India and each page has a snippet about the palaces, the jewels and various art. They have a nice bar as well but we preferred mocktails today one of them being Virgin Pinacolada which was perfect in taste. For the starter we had Murgh Tikka which was in good quantity and full of flavours! In the main course we had Murg Lababdar which had the perfect blend of spices in it. Chicken pieces in both the starter and the main course were very tender and soft meaning it was really fresh indeed. The marination was up to the mark as well. I personally loved the Garlic naan a lot! It didnt get chewy even after it got cold while eating. And for the cherry on top they served us with a complimentary dessert - Kulfi literally with a cherry on the top as it was my husbands birthday. Overall it was a pleasant dining experience. I would visit again and would definitely recommend this place.

We heard this restaurant won the 2018/19 Curry Awards in Toronto. We were curious because we’re familiar with this award from Leicester, UK.Initially we had a bad experience. The server was a ‘trainee’ and made a few mistakes. One item on the menu was stated as dark meat and they served white meat and he insisted it was dark meat. The Executive Chef and GM talked to my wife and apologized for the mistake. He also told us he was Sous Chef at Bukhara in Delhi India (one of the best Indian restaurants in the world) and knew some mutual folks my chef wife met (Celebrity Chef Vikas Khanna). He told us he would take care of us and he really did. The quality was amazing and reminded us of top Indian dining we had in India, Dubai, NYC, London. We both agreed this is the best in the GTA.

Right from the reservation till the moment we came out, extraordinary experience. Unique bar setting in an Indian restaurant and very professional bartender, she knew everything exactly. Gagan was our server- great guy, gave all his recommendation- made sure we order the right amount of food and not overdo it. Very polite. Excellent interior deco and the menu has been carefully curated. Only a handful of dishes with avadhi, hyderabadi, Punjabi and Rajasthani cusine. Explaining history in each of the cusine and right amount of specialized dishes. We ordered hariyali Murgh- very juicy and soft chicken. Paneer kulcha, chicken lababdar and ghost biryani. Went here for a celebration with some friends. The gimmick with this restaurant is that it has 4 menus in one which are supposed to represent different provinces of India. There were Punjabi choices, there were choices from Telangana etc. The food was good, it wasnt amazing it was just very good. The thing that threw me off is that there were not really any classic delicacies from India here - things like Chana Masala and Palak Paneer etc. The service was spotty (although nice) - our waiter simply forgot to bring us things or several dishes were delayed. Regarding ranking in overall Indian restaurants in the GTA - Nirvana in my opinion is still by far the best and superior to this place.

Great experience. Menu is divided into the cuisine of different regions of India. Vegetarian and spicy items are indicated with a symbol. The waitors also help you, if youre having a hard time deciding. The chicken in the nutty almond sauce I had was mild and flavorful. The stars of the meal were the appetizers and naan. The app was a crunchy, breaded, fried eggplant, topped with a spread and pomegranate seeds. The naan (theres a variety) was filled with a raisin and nut spread. I loved it. They started off the meal with a rosewater-lime palate cleanser, and everything was served on your plate by the waitor. (Id actually prefer if it was just served directly to the table...but its a little extra service that they provide.) So much variety, that theres something for everyone to try.

Review based only on Lunch experience -Executive Lunch Thaali.Time entered restaurant - 2pm .*Seating -Too cramped ..We were 3 people and were made to sit on a very small table which would work only for 2 people . I was surprise to see 4 chairs around it. 80%of the place was empty and we could have been allocated a bigger table . The server could clearly see the space was less and was struggling to keep dishes and cutlery himself . Not a relaxing feeling.*Food options and Flavours -No specific Menu in the restaurant showing what dishes will be served . We had choice of non veg or veg .*Starters - Fried Chicken was well done .. but lacking seasoning ..Paapdi Chaat - Decent preparation .*Main Menu -In non vegetarian chicken their was only an option of a Parsi chicken which was excessively sweet and had too many plums in it and too little chicken or gravy . Wish they had a basic chicken option for thalis like butter chicken or chicken kadahhi. The lal maas (Lamb) was tasting okay . Nan /Roti was not soft and took too long to get out from kitchen to our table . Dal makhani was good consistency however tasted a bit sour .Rice -This was the best part of the entire meal . Absolutely awesome... Long grain flavours of spices and aromatic. Highly recommended to order and try .*Drinks - Ordered Mango Lassi - Our family favourite drink and found it to be too sour.*Sweet dish - Gajar Halwa was very good .*Service - Courteous but very very slow .Had to wit on the table 20 minutes before starters came . Liked that they got a sparkler for us as it was our wedding Anniversary.*Cons - Found a hair in the Nan bread and brought it the notice of server .This was very bad to experience the server apologised, but the damage to appetite was already done .*Flavours : Missed the mark as we had high expectations .*Decor - Very beautiful... love the fusion paintings they have on the walls .Should stop offering the Lunch menu if it cannot be done well as it effects the reputation of the place. Infact the Lunch menu should be so wonderfully done that it entices customers to come again for full course main meal .Hope the main menu is more flavourful and prepared better .Review is truthfully done so that they can learn and improve, as the place has a lot of potential .Wish them all the best .

Overhyped, overpriced and tacky. Guessing from the website, we expected a classy experience. However, the loud and tacky music made it seem like we were in a dance club. Our appetizers and main course were brought at the same time, which made no sense.Ingredients used were cheap and low quality. For the price charged, I expected fresh paneer at the very least. They use frozen, store-bought paneer which reeked of lazyness. The dal makhani was cooked by boiling (rather than in a daig, a traditional copper vessel) rendering it flavorless. The Naan and other breads were soggy and cooked in an electric tandoor, rather than a wood fired tandoor as authentic Naan is cooked. For a restaurant claiming to be a boutique restaurant and providing an authentic Indian food experience, it was sorely lacking and lack of effort in trying to prepare true Indian food was clearly apparent. Overpriced, overhyped, and disappointing with cheap, low quality ingredients. Avoid.

This one deserves a longer review. Youll know why!First thing to notice about the restaurant is the age old house/building that it is situated in. Its presumably a heritage building in Mississauga.Make a reservation ill advance for weekend lunch or dinner as the chances arr you wont get any at the last moment. The menu is divided into four kinds of cuisine - Rajasthani, Awadhi (Lucknowi), Punjabi and Hyderabadi. Each category covers the some of the main famous dishes of that region (such as laal maas in rajasthani, hyderabadi dum biryani, galaowti kabab in lucknowi/awadhi etc.)Services- I must admit that it is amongst few fine dining experiences in gta for Indian cuisine. You get a complimentary welcome drink shot of drink of the day. Upon ordering your meal, You are being served on your dish by the server.Taste- Taste wise it is nothing too exclusive of the taste compared other competitors in gta, but you will get to taste some dishes that are only available in specific cities of India such as Lucknow or hyderabad. Because the restaurant is merely 5 min drive from my place, it is one of the frequent place for us to dine. I have tried their few menu dishes such as laal maas (okay in taste), hyderabad biryani (not too spicy but really balanced taste of spices, well marinated meat, light and well separated basmati rice), galaowti kabaab (made to perfection), Chicken banjara (local rajasthani chicken curry- Tastes okay and nothing too exclusive) etc. I had not even attempted to try punjabi menu because thats what we generally get in 99% of North indian restaurants ok Canada. In a nutshell, as a foodie, i personally give kudos to the chef for attempting to offer such a unique menu and concept. Regarding the taste, in general the taste is really good. One can surely differentiate taste between two curry and can tell that chef has made efforts to create the dishes with different blend of ingredients and style. This is something noticeable about the restaurant apart from its services. It is a must restaurant in gta to visit for those who want varsatile Indian cuisine from 4 far apart corners of the country, which is otherwise is very difficult even while being in India.

Ive been waiting for a special occasion to try The Maharaja. The day finally arrived, when my friend planned dinner there to celebrate. I offered to reserve the table, which I did via email the day before. However I didnt receive any confirmation so when I called the following day they mentioned that my reservation was confirmed and that I should be there by 7pm, since the restaurant is fully booked every other time after that.We arrived 10 minutes late due to traffic and the server at the front of the house firmly told us that because we did not arrive on time you we cannot order an appetizer separate from the mains! I found that very rude since we were only 10 minutes late! Furthermore, I dont think someone has the right to tell you when and how you can place your order.Anyways, the interior was nice and cozy and our server was friendly but not very attentive. We placed our orders after several attempts of calling down a server. I chose to get the mahi tikka tandoori with a tandoori roti. My friends chose to share the maas ke sule, chicken biryani, and plain naan. We were starving and the food was taking way too long. There wasnt even anyone re-filling our glasses with water. Around 45 minutes later the food finally arrived. The reason for not giving this place 2 stars is because of the food itself. My fish, which was salmon I believe, was really flavourful and not dry. The biryani and lamb was also good according to my friends. The prices here are hefty compared to other Indian restaurants with similar foods, so I dont think it will be worth eating here again unless you just want a more fancy ambiance.Ill definitely not be going again, but hopefully they make some changes regarding their service.

This ties for #1 Indian food in Mississauga along with Avani Indian Bistro. Maharaja has an edge when it comes to ambiance and overall service while Avani has an edge when it comes to flavor.I ordered butter chicken (chooza makhni) and navratan korma. Both were really good. Garlic naan was amazing. So good that you can eat it on its own. Biryani was solid too.The interior decor is impeccable. And so is the service.Highly recommended if you’re looking for a “royal Indian dining experience”.

The place was really well decorated. I went there for a birthday and the food was really good! It’s nice for special occasions or just when you want something a bit fancier. It wasn’t as expensive as I thought it was going to be, considering it’s a pretty nice place. We got 2 curry dishes, and some appetizers to split between a small group of us.

The flavours in every dish are unique. Its a great ambience and most importantly, they accommodated a member of our group who needed wheelchair access with a lot of respect. I know one would think that treating each other with respect should be a given, but this place goes above and beyond with how they treat their customers. The service was amazing, and we will definitely be back for special occasions.

Amazing. Authentic, classy, and sophisticated restaurant with everything made in house. This pic below is their deep fried eggplant appetizer.

I had been wanting to visit this place for the past 3 years, for some or other reason I wasn’t able to make it. Today we celebrated my friend’s birthday there, service was outstanding, food was delicious and the owners have put in a lot of thought in preparing the menu to the decor.

We had an amazing experience here! Served by our beautiful and amazing server Tracey, we had a riot there! The food was amazing, served right into our plates, full of flavors and texture. The food came pretty quickly after we ordered, and Tracey and other staff were really helpful. We never had to wait too long for the servers. All in all, a great experience!

Five of us went yesterday to check out the Iftar menu. We had a great experience! The waiter brought out the food when we were ready to eat. The Iftar meal was as described and included dates as well as desserts for $35 per person. We all agreed that the meal was worth every penny.

Ordered Lal Maas, was definitely tasty BUT BUT BUT - didnt get the same taste as the ones Ive had in India - was not akin to an authentic Lal Maas - lacked punch and was nowhere spicy as should have been - probably spice levels diluted to cater to canadian palate????
