The food is delicious but the staff is rather rude. We went there for the buffet and they had a sign that said buffet 7.95, however, there was no buffet “because of covid” but the sign was still there… when we were having dinner, a man who came to the restaurant got mad when he saw the sign advertising the buffet and kicked it down. The staff from the restaurant put it up again… So it’s clearly to attract customers to the restaurant.

Rudest group of waiters Ive ever encountered. We were the only three people in the restaurant. I asked for a second glass of wine since we had just gotten our food and my companions had full glasses of beer. The waiter said no, they are closed. I thought he was joking and looked at another waiting standing nearby and said, Am I really not allowed a glass of wine? He also said no and repeated that they were closed. Very puzzling since we were sitting there with large quantities of food to eat. Luckily a young guy came in who seemed to be the manager and I told him what was going on. He schooled the waiters on the proper way of treating a paying guest and I was served my wine. I have a feeling that if I were male it wouldnt have been an issue. The food was okay, but you better believe I will never be back.

Nice restaurant, buffet is a bargain and you should definitely go on an empty stomach! Great selection of vegetarian food - it is exclusively vegetarian. Other menu items fantastic too, I recommend the Dosas! On the downside, they like you to pay in cash only, unless your table pays together in one single card transaction. Waiters friendly too, although sometimes a little pushy to sell you extras. They like to be tipped too! Overall, very tasty food and good quality. I visit regularly.

Not sure why they have named it Ravi Shankar, it’s another Bangladeshi team running restaurant under Indian Name, nothing authentic here, don’t dare to try to any South Indian dishes, they don’t know how to cook South Indian, chef doesn’t know how to make simple coconut chutney, coconut rice was sweet and no nuts in it, no proper seasoning, same with lemon rice, utthapam wasn’t cooked at the middle and finally paneer tikka wasn’t grilled, very disappointed, please don’t try to fool people by giving such Indian names to your restaurant.

Not been to this restaurant for over 20 years. The street has changed a lot.On entering the restaurant, we were seated at the window table, which was nice. The restaurant was virtually full, with guests from different cultures, so that was good to see as it showed the diversity. We were served by a very accommodating gentleman who got our respective dishes catered to our specific tastes, which was a nice touch. My channa bhatura, the sunday special, was particularly good. Have attached a few photos. We both enjoyed our meal. Thanks

Must know for every vegetarian/vegan in London. Amazing food, huge choice during Sundays buffet.Edit: went back after 4 years. They didnt have buffet at Sunday 7:45pm; It felt forced as the waiter sit us down, because we only asked a question, didnt leave us space to decide/discuss if we wanted to stay, but we were hungry and went along. Overall the waiters felt a bit rude.We had 5 dishes, which we couldnt finish.Exotic Karahi Mix (mostly orange colored curry): nice flavours, lots of carrots.Muttor/mutter paneer (light orange dish with 🥄 in it): it had very few peas in it, but the curry was flavoursome and the paneer was really good, it wasnt squeaking like every else.Vegetable rice: yellow rice with vegetables and spices, not hot.Aloo methi paratha (pencake-like bread): very thinly stuffed with some potato puree and spinach.Spinach and paneer dosa: 3 stuffed dosa slices, plenty of cottage cheese/spinach filling. Very nice side curries: sambar has an unusual sour flavour for Indian, the coconut is very strong with flavour, the red one we had no clue what it is.In the end we asked to take the remaining 2 dosas and a curry away, and they gave us 2 small metal boxes and we had to fill it. Unusual, but ok for the price range.

I hate getting dragged down to London for work but places like this make the city bearable. Low key, unfussy with a diverse veg menu. Nicely busy on Friday night but not rammed at 7 so we got a seat, jumped in with gol guppa and beers, then a few side dishes. Excellent food and polite but chilled staff. Definitely one to return to next trip with a bit more time to try the full thali. 60 quid between two people, but that was with 4 large beers and a lot of good food. Probably good for London.

I would happily have given this place 4* because the food was good and service was moderately quick. However, halfway through our meal the table next to us started arguing with the manager about their bill - they had asked for the service charge to be removed so they could pay the waiter directly - but had then realised that they had been overcharged too. Plus the waiter had the cheek to say they could pay him something on top of the bill too.Meanwhile we had our food, were modestly content and asked for the bill. It arrives (beautifully itemised), given to us by a different waiter, and it turns out we too had been overcharged on top of service.I subsequently refused to pay service.I cant help to think that this is standard practice at this restaurant in the hope that drunk English punters inadvertently key in the full amount without verifying. The likelihood of two tables next to one another having miscalculated bills by two different waiters within half an hour of one another is slim.Very disappointed. Be wary.

Went in because the name and food options suggested Indian street food. Sadly not the case. Poor ambience and lukewarm service. Food did not taste authentic, was poorly presented and did not appear hygienic. We ordered masala tea and were served a premix version available to buy off the shelves! The worst bit was at checkout when the waiter/manager started acting shifty...eg. not adding the prices on the bill, going back to add additional items, trying to engage us in small talk to stop us from inspecting the bill....definitely not going back.

One of the 3 long standing veggie Indian restaurants on Drummond Street. The menu of all 3 is very similar covering all the South Indian staples. They also do an all day all you can eat Sunday buffet which is incredible value and very tasty. It gets very busy as a result so on Sunday dont bank on a quiet laid back experience but the food is well worth it. Also good to see that they have dialled back the music volume to a more comfortable and ambient level. We hadnt visited for a while as last time the music volume was more akin to a night club and when a customer asked them to turn it down they refused. Well worth a visit but check how loud the music is when you open the door.

The food felt very clean - not too much oil or ghee in any of the dishes that we ordered, which is one thing that really annoys me about certain other Indian restaurants. It is worth checking the food hygiene rating for this place on the food standards agency website, which is advertised as “0” at the last inspection in April 2019. Had we seen that first, we wouldn’t have eaten here.Arrived for the lunch buffet to a mostly empty restaurant and we were directed by one of the waiters to one of the many empty tables to sit. We had been there for ten minutes, hadn’t finished eating, and one of the waiters asked if we could hurry up because someone was coming who had booked the table we were sitting at! So why weren’t we sat at one of the many other empty tables if this particular table was booked? And clearly we, as paying customers, were not as important as whoever the table was reserved for. Incredibly rude. The waiter wasn’t able to provide allergy advice and drinks were served with plastic straws. We paid our bill without tipping and quietly left having been abruptly rushed out. We will NOT be returning here. There are other places to eat that are more deserving of my money.

The Ravi Shankar sits in a row of Indian vegetarian restaurants in Drummond Street, very close to Euston station. I opted to go for their buffet style meal which starts at 12 noon - one price and you can eat as much as you like. The food on offer was excellent. Several hot dishes and then an array of cold including salad style mixes. A desert of a type of semolina, sweet cakes and fruit follows. V good value for money. Mediocre food at ok prices. The service, however, is something else. I’ve never experienced anything like it. We were asked to pay the bill the moment we placed our forks down without even being asked if we wanted anything else. We were hurried, quite literally, to down our drinks and pay the bill so that they could seat waiting guests. They apologised repeatedly for rushing us but as I said to one of the many waiters trying to get us out quickly, as he was cleaning the table we were sat at for the next seating, if they were sorry they wouldn’t be throwing us out the door in such an aggressive manner. The food wasn’t good enough for me to consider going back.
