Went to this restaurant with family to celebrate sisters graduation. I have to say the hospitality and the service was so good. It is the best in class Ive seen. The food was so delicious. We literally ordered half of the entire menu. Top quality food. Very tasty. Very authentic taste. They take pride looking after you whilst you are in their restaurant. Definitely will visit again.

Dined there on August 16, 2019. The ambiance is a little bit more upscale, but not excessively so. Wait staff is very friendly, attentive, and gives patiently advice on dishes. They also return frequently to inquire whether all is satisfactory. The food itsel was lovely, and not overpriced. Overall a perfect experience.

Had a set menu which to be honest was great, service was amazing with the waiters going above and beyond which I cannot fault. The real downer on the whole experience was my bill have extra dishes charged on which at first I did not notice or even think would happen for such a great establishment, but once I paid, it was only as I was on my way out I noticed the bill. When questioned this, I was given another bill and they had the cheek to include a service charge on this. Had I not noticed this error I would of walked out none the wiser as I rarely check bills as I trust establishments. As I walked out not an apology from the waiter who served me.

Lovely service, do get the typical feel of a traditional Indian restaurant minutes away from gherkin.Service is great.Lamb chops are nice, onion Bhaji a must try there. Just a little expensive, but I guess that’s because of the location.

Great place for dining with friends or colleagues. Service is good and attentive, food was well cooked and presented, friendly staff overall; happy to explain the menu to you. The ambience and decor was lovely, a calming yet fancy feel with dim lighting for added effect. I Would definitely recommend going here.

The best Modern Indian restaurant in London!I have been in search of a go to place for my indian food cravings for a long time. Although there are many in London, to find a place about which you love everything is difficult. The restaurant is situated in a very nice area with basement seating (which is totally fine by the way). The ambience is excellent with friendly, helpful and welcoming staff.A wonderful menu with lots of vegetarian options too. The staff really helped us chose by explaining the ingredients when we were doubtful. Some starters we were sharing and had odd number of items (like 3 or 5). And since we were two of us, they went ahead and made it 4 or 6 so that it was easy to share.Above all, the food was delicious!

Went as part of a large group. Food was fine but they were woefully unprepared to cater for the group booking. I asked for water for the table and they said they didnt have enough water glasses for us. Surely a restaurant has enough glasses for the number of tables it has? Service was overall a bit confused and given the number of brilliant Indian restaurants, I wasnt enthused to return.

The place is posh and contemporary. However the food is way too expensive for the quality and portion they serve. Starter portions are way too small. Waiters are in a rush and seem disinterested. Service is okay-ish but they charge 12.5 per cent gratuity (optional of course but who cares). Lamb is not good sea food was not fresh. Avoidable in my books.

Review №21

I went at this place by looking at Google rating but sadly my experience was very bad, these people have their own rules for ordering food, you cant share food but Indian curry dishes are ment to be shared, though here its not allowed, you have to order separate curry for each person. On top of that the food here has no taste, so this is definitely not Indian food, all food was mostly boiled and fried over oil. I had to ask for salt and pepper separately but that still doesnt improve taste. And you have to finally pay high prices for tasteless food. So beware, this is not a place for Indian food!!!

Great Indian food. It is where the local City people tend to end up for lunch (at least by the looks of it). Beautifully spiced food and a cozy ambiance. If you ever get lost in this part of town and youre a bit peckish, this the place to go for a bite.

A horrible racist place. I sat here for 20 min nobody came to take my order. Then I got up to ask someone to take my order, but they were fighting inside the kitchen, I could hear loud noises. Then I went out to look for any nearby restaurants. Could not see any in the night as I am new to London so came back in. Now the bartender was there. I asked him why I was not being served. His answer was most ridiculous ever, he said you were looking at your phone so we did not disturb you. I said could I speak to the manager, he refused saying that was his personal matter. He refused to give me the name of the owner, saying that was his personal matter as well. At the same time they were serving other guests all British looking white men and women. I left in frustration and luckily found Bengal tiger nearby and ate there.

Been there twice. Last year the food and service was good. But now, the quality seems to have gone down. Food is expensive, taste is not good anymore..and the waiters are almost pushing the customers to order more drinks, order food quickly, not happy with any small changes in the order (even during order placing time). But the most worrying part, there were some fraud transactions on my credit card, on the very next afternoon. I am not blaming the restaurant for this but it is more than just a coincidence.

Last night I returned to an old favorite spot for some old favorite comfort food.On the edge of the insurance district of central London, Anokha is one of a few quality places to stay open late (10pm) and maintains a consistently good menu. Clientele ranged from a sober lone traveler (me) to a couple of small groups enjoying good food after working late and a drink, and one larger group, but the space is big enough for the groups not to get into each others way.The menu is arranged with the traditional sections of appetizers mains and side dishes, but I opted for a thali-like combination: a beautifully presented mixed tandoori appetizer, two side dishes of saag paneer and tarka dal and a peshwari naan which had the usual interesting and sweet flavours of coconut and crushed almonds. These are my comfort foods and Anokha did a good job with them.I really appreciate being able to arrive in London, get some work done, and still be able to have a good dinner before night kicks in. Anokha has another location close to St. Pauls, and Im reminded to go back and check it out after two or three years since my last visit.
