I found this college quite good ... As I was one day visitor there ... Stayed 5-6hrs in total there .. all the basic facilities are available yet toilets need management ...,, I visited physics and Botany department well maintained this college is under University of Calcutta (CU)

Location of this college is near Esplanade.15 minutes walking from Big Bazar Esplanade.Beautiful and old college which founded on 1926 where students get proper education.Maulana Azad Sir is famous in India.Students from all over Kolkata and suburbs come here to study.After Pandemic in 2020 admission procedures are being done online.Beside this college you may get buses towards Esplanade Metro, Santragachi,Babughat , Mandirtala etc.

Maulana Azad College was founded on 9 December 1926 by Victor Bulwer-Lytton, 2nd Earl of Lytton, then Governor of Bengal. It was originally called Islamia College. The institution was the culmination of efforts of notable Muslim leaders like A. K. Fazlul Huq, Syed Nawab Ali Chowdhury and Sir Abdul Rahim.With an objective to promote Islamic learning and general education among the Muslim population in British India and with the sustained efforts of contemporary education minister of Bengal, A. K. Fazlul Haque, on December 9, 1924, Lord Lytton, the contemporary Governor of Bengal laid the foundation stone of Islamia College under the affiliation of University of Calcutta. The journey started under the leadership of The Principal, Mr. A. H. Harley, formerly, faculty of Oriental Languages, Edinburg University, UK.Post-independence, the college was renamed as Central Calcutta College and generously moved beyond religious barrier and was open for all male students. The leadership responsibility was rendered by Professor F. J. F. Pereira.In 1960, the final baptism held as Maulana Azad College in the memory of the great national leader, erudite scholar and the first education minister of the independent India-Maulana Abul Kalam Azad. In 1990, the college was declared as co-educational institution. Gradually, the institution evolved as an academic place of harmonious co-existence amidst the plurality of gender, language, culture and religion.

Many students are come for take higher study from others district or other state in this college. I am proud for this college, and his study, processors, and etc. Because better study and teaching has here.

I was here for my Practical exams and I must say Im impressed. This place is better maintained and cleaner than many other popular colleges in Kolkata. The hallways are neat and clean. The corridors are spacey. The downside is the classroom sizes. They are simply compact. The benches are bigger in comparison to the room size. The teachers are polite and friendly. I liked that fact.I have also heard that their tuition fees are much cheap compared to other colleges.

The college has been elevated to Grade A after NAACs reaccreditation in 2016. The infrastructure and the environment of the college are just awesome. The college union is very helpful. But the arts department is not as strong as its science department in terms of faculties and marks achieved by the students in university exams.

Here education is encouraged, the faculty is great, the physics, botany, english, chemistry, mathematics departments are one of the best under Calcuttaa university. The commerce department is par the average though.But here politics is not very active thus the students who are regular here are more interested in studies than political agendas.
