Nice hall but there are not seats so called for couples actually as basically every seat is separated with divisions like a normal seat ..but there is privacy !

Iconic cinema, child hood memories attached to it, back in the days, during pre multiplex and mall era, located near Esplanade and Parkstreet iconic location location of the city, the shopping street is buzzing with crowd creating a unique festive atmosphere, throughout the year, be it day or night, the cinema area is still as wonderful as it used to be years back.

The hall has comfortable seat and ambience is really good.* Sound system is average.** Seating arrangement is perfect, but from extreme left you cant see the screen properly.*** Couple friendly and also comfortable for family.

One such hall is the iconic New Empire Cinema, situated at the heart of Kolkata, near Dharmatala. This hall has successfully stood the test of time and still offers a good movie going experience. The ticket prices are pretty nominal and the screen viewing angles are good as well. They accept online booking via BookMyShow also. One downside of this hall are its seats. The seats are very low and its extremely uncomfortable for a tall person to sit for a long period of time. The seat inclination also need to be addressed. Here, you will also find a bar cum restaurant on the first floor. Overall, its a satisfactory single-screen cinema hall. 👍😊📽️

An old cinema hall with modern set up. Tickets cost was 150 at balcony and 90 regular. Its just at the new market area and very good to watch a movie after shopping.

But if you going watch end game or high vfx movies I did not suggest this cinema because its good but the movie like end game or your name deserve a premium screen like IMAX or pvr ...

Good place. Its a cinema hall.. you lll not get the feel of multiplex. Sound quality is not good. However, youll get the nostalgic feeling.

All in all good experience. Remember to book a seat in front of the screen because there are quite a lot of seats to the left of the screen which are oddly placed and doesnt allow you to view the screen properly.

Good place for movies with a old Calcutta feeling

Best cinema hall at Esplanade at low cost. Sitting capacity and quality both are good.But the environment in the halls during movie time is not good enough because of the cackling of others people.

Affordable ticket price but the accomodation and atmosphere is way too below the average. We saw a big fat rat running across the hall. If you have watched a single movie in any of the multiplexes across the city, then it is impossible for you to make yourself comfortable at this place.

New Empire is the age old popular theatre of Central Kolkata. It carries the legacy of last Millennium. Seating arrangement & the silver screen both are quite good here. However sound system needs to be improved.Nevertheless its value for money as the general ticket price for Dress circle 120 & Rear Stall 70. For any big budget or superstar films the price may hike up to 150 to 180 for upper class & Rear Stall 100. However they reduced it after two weeks depending on the response. One of the major drawback is Booking for New Empire cant be done through Book my show. Its yet to come on this platform.

New empire cinema is a quintessential single screen theatre at the heart of the city. The hall is located just at the centre of new market opposite to Sreeram arcade. They also have their adjoining restuarants one the same floor along with other popular outlets like KFC, Dominos, Wow momo, Barista etc. on the ground floor.

At the heart of the city. In the new market. Sitting, sound quality is good but picture quality is worse.I can still remember there was A special gallery on the top where we booked seat for just 30 rs. But it is closed now.

Good enough place to spend a few hours during the rains. Getting a parking spot in that area is impossible. The food street between New Empire and Lighthouse is convincing with a myriad of delectable flavors. Great stop for Momos and chai.

It used to be good once and now it getting worse day by day. If youre going just careful who is sitting next to you.

Very crowded. Have to wait in a queue in the ground floor even past the schedule time for movie. The screen and sound quality is below average. We occupied the box sits without any special feelings. Those are only the last couple rows of seats with extra cost. The entrance is left open most of the time, making the view quite disturbing.Even after the show is over they will urge you to leave the premises quickly and impolitely.

Its more of a heritage rathe than just another movie theatre. Have been seeing the building stand there since my birth and have seen it go through both the good and bad days. Tickets are not pricey, considering this is not a multiplex and youll have several food options to choose from.

Located in very busy area in first floor there is a bar and in ground floor there is kfc, scoop,dominos and wow momo, tickets price is economical only the box seat is good and for the top balcony you have to buy the tickets from back gate which is very cheap not its still operate that i dont know earlier in 30 rs we use to buy the ticket in top balcany there is no ac and not so good crowd you will feel like you are sitting in b grade movie theatre.

That was really amazing. I went there to watch Avengers: Endgame and the experience about movie and the hall too, was really awesome. There is also a stall inside the hall premises which supply food & water in cheap prices, in comparison to other cinema halls.

Scoop offers you a variety of cuisines and I have been here many a times. Today we had burger, chili cheese toast, chicken cutlets. Each food served was good both in terms of quality and taste. I might have missed the spot with the icecream choice. Ordered Paraside Found but I didnt find paradise. The flavours didnt blend well. I would rather suggest As you like it if its your first time.

Even though the seats were kind of comfortable, the projection was nice, the main problem was the background music outside the movie. The walls are not sound proof so you can hear musics from the next door bar. Its a very bad experience for a movie lover if he/she hears Gangnam style during a tragic scene.

Its like a Multiplex. Comfortable Chairs. Good Sound system But could be More loud. We were here for URI and felt that sound system could be More loud and clear.

One of the best cinema hall in Chowringhee area is still surviving. Those were the days. Earlier it catered theatre also. Bahurupee, the famous theatre group led by Great Sambhu Mitra used to hold their shows on every Sunday morning. That was a real pleasure for all the Calcuttans. I could not resist my nostalgic feelings when I visited the hall to view some movies of KIFF as a delegate, a few days back.
