It has many facilities including water and sanitation. There is a proper approach road to this station. It is in proximity to the BT RoadThere used to be a branch line originating from Barrackpore station (code: BPPS) that served the Barrackpore Cantonment Area. Barrackpore had a racecourse behind the criminal court (far away from the station) and a special single rail track took steam engine-driven trains there, carrying British passengers who would attend the race. The line has been deprecated since.

One of the key stations in Sealdah main section and perhaps the oldest, having been built in the eighteenth century by the British. Its architecture makes its heritage apparent. A rare station in this section which has five fully operarional platforms without being a junction station. A key feature is that it has a local train originating from here- Barrackpore local. It also has a dedicated line for goods train unlike orher srations. Goods trains (like oil tankers) are often seen stationed here for days. With its amenities, its a well-appointed station. The well-organised station yard and good maintenance of the station building lend it high standards. It also.gives good access to the main road and BT Road is not far from here. Something to be proud of for the residents of Barrackpore town.

Internationally famed railway station since the British Rule in India till date. Now it has developed into a class suburb well connected by all means of transport except air. Its historical importance lies in the fact that it still has an incredible military base.

The Barrackpore Railway Station is a British architectural style Railway Station which is one of the oldest station on the Kolkata suburban railway system . It was opened in 1862 and was electrified in 1963-65. The iconic structure of the station often fascinates the visitors as well as a discernible place for everyone. Each platforms in the station has its own distinguished features and the station is very well sheded. The station circle which lays just infront of the station attracts many people to spend their leisure time in either chatting or having foods from the adjacent eateries. Overall this is a historic station in Bengal which must be take proper care and cleanliness to prevent from jeopardizing the dignity and the fame of the station.

Barrackpore Railway Station is among those Railway station functioning since 1862 on the erstwhile Eastern Bengal Railway line. The station has been able to conserve the arch structures that surrounds the older platforms.Perhaps, it is the only suburban station which has been able to preserve the good old charm of the 19th century, not just that the new platforms has very well been able to merge with the old platforms. The station has a total of five platforms namely 1, 1A, 2, 3, and 4 and six tracks, with platform #1 being the longest one, enough for the long distance traveling train to take a halt. It is well connected to Sealdah,Bandel,Naihati,Ranaghat,Gede, Shantipur, Krishnanagar by trian but also it offer seamless travel option by bus to most of the above mentioned places.Overall, the station complex is clean, well sheded and toilets are comparatively cleaner.
