Located in Dakshineswar, Kolkata, in proximity to Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Adyapith is another Hindu Temple which was built in 1967. It was originally founded back in 1915 by the followers of Annada Charan Bhattacharya - a great devotee of Maa Kali and Sri Ramkrishna. Adya Maa being a Divine form of Maa Kali the temple has great religious significance. The main altar of the temple is having three sub-altars. The bottom is having the statue of Sri Ramkrishna, the middle is having Maa Adya and the top altar displays Radha and Krishna.Thousands of visitors thronging in every day to offer prayer. I visited the temple on 7th march 2021 for the second time.Very near to Dakshineswar temple is Adyapith, a pilgrim centre, the temple of Adya Ma. Sree Annada Thakur being advised in a dream had built this temple of Adya Ma in order to teach man the dictums of love and idealism. The construction was started in 1340 BS and the temple was inaugurated on Makar Sankranti day (last day of Bengali calendar month Poush) in 1375 BS.This three-peaked temple was built in three steps. On the 1st step is Sree Ramakrishna in a sitting position, Guru (teacher) is written on the altar; at the second step-which is found in the pond of Eden Garden is Shiva in the yogic Padmasana, with an astadhatu (eight metals) image of the goddess on his chest-all this in the likeness of Adya Ma, on the dias is written knowledge and work; on the 3rd step, the twin idols of Radha-Krishna, love is written on the altar. One hour before sunrise Mangalarati i.e. worshipping starts, at 10-30 is Bhogarati i.e. worshipping with Bhog food for the deity, 1.5 hours after sunset is Sitalarati. The temple is open between Mangalarati and 12-00 and again from 15-00 to Sitalarati, 52 day in a year. On other days one can have a view of the deity from a front stage (Darshan Mandap) more during worshipping. Besides these days doors are closed and Darshan is prohibited. During lunch break devotees get Annaprasad against Pranami.
Very nice place to spend an hour or two especially for those who wish to meditate & stay in a religious place.

A very good and nice place to visit and enjoy the spiritual activities
This place is not much crowded all the time. Nice place. The evening Arati time is just magical.
My Father late Kabiraj Barish Chandra Chatterjee/ Chottopadhay was an Ayurvedic Schooler. He learned me that KOJJOLI , an suurvedic medicine applying to control every form of Haemorrhages, is a preparation of 50% Murcury &50% Sulphur by the process of trituration.Murcury is the organic symbol of SHIVA while Sulphur is the organic symbol of Gouri/ Parvati. So KOJJOLI is the medicinal form where from the name KALI anyhow developed. Devi Kalika destroyed Raktabija m, without doing any external Haemorrhages. KOJJOLI could controls the same working interiorly.*****************************************************
Great place to be with your own. The ambience is Neat and Clean. The temple is open during its usual hours during daytime and evening for the arati. Even you can have mas bhog after the day arati and relish the khichuri, labra, payesh with a clean heart.
I stay Near This Temple ! If You Visit Dakshineswar Definitely Make A Visit Here ... Very Nice Place
I feel amazing and wonderful inner peace inside my heart
The Story of the Adyapeath Temple (5 of 6)The TempleDream visitations from Sri Ramakrishna also continued. He offered Annada moksha, but Annada, confronted by a vision of thousands of his suffering fellow humans, responded, I do not care for liberation. I would rather go through a hundred thousand hells doing good to others: This is my religion. In 1919, Sri Ramakrishna revealed what Annadas lifes work was to be: the establishment of a temple to the Divine Mother Adya Ma.The temple was to be in reality three temples enveloping one another: the first to Sri Ramakrishna, the second to Adya Ma, and the third to Krishna and Radha. The altar was to be three altars built like large stairsteps: Ramakrishna on the bottom, Adya Ma in the middle, and Krishna and Radha on the top, encircled by the sacred syllable om. In conjunction with the temple, there were to be separate ashrams for men and women, boys and girls orphanages and schools, a free clinic to prevent the spread of contagious disease, and distribution of food and clothing to the poor.At Sri Ramakrishnas behest, Annada Thakur spent a year with his parents in Raujan, in what is now Bangladesh, and then returned to Calcutta and carried out spiritual practices for a year on the bank of the Ganges. Then, on January 14, 1921, a celebration was held, which is still celebrated at the temple as Siddhotsab. The same year a committee was formed for the establishment of the Dakshineswar Ramakrishna Sangha. In early 1927, the Sangha acquired a piece of land with some adjoining old Shiva temples, and on January 31, 1928, Annada Thakur broke ground for the temple on a compound of nearly 14 acres.
This temple which is in a walking distance from Dakshineswar temple is a great place to visit. The place is less crowded than Dakshineswar temple and so cozy. The temple premise is neat and clean. And if you reach before 11:30 am you can get the bhog, the food offerings to the goddess. The food is pretty good and the cleanliness is satisfactory near the kitchen area.
Adyapith is the religious place near the Dakshineswar Kali temple. It was founded by Sri Anand Thakur in 1915. Dakshineswar Ramkrishna Sangha Adyapeath is an organization dedicated to the service of humanity. The temple opens from 10.30 a.m. to 11.30 a.m. You can take bhog from here by paying Rs. 40 per head. This bhog coupon is given from 8 a.m. to 12 from the temple counter.

People come here less than dakhineswar. But everybody should come. Sacred kali temple.

A crowded place..... Inside the temple complex is very clean.... But people are not maintaining covid restrictions inside and are off the mask
A spiritual destination .
It is a very calming and pleasing temple complex of shri adya ma who is said to be residing here as the primordial source of energy. She is as great as her blessings in confluence to her love and nurturing that can be felt whenever a visit is paid to her lotus feet. Ma is very generous and ever forgiving with her devotees and who punishes the evil for rectitude, as I live in dum dum cantonment since my birth I had the privilege of seeing the human manifestation of the loving mother as Adya ma who lived in human form 20 years back or so. So my love respect and closeness to this form of the adiparashakti will always be there, now coming to the temple descriptions one can find huge goshalas dedicated to the lord radha govinda , rabbits, ducks , temples dedicated to shiva and one can donate marble epitaphs in memory of their beloved deceased family members. Really peaceful energetic and spiritually enhancing temple of the divine mother very close to the mighty ganges.a must visit for spiritual purposes and to feel the love of the divine mother. Jai ma jay guru!!
Very good but the approach road is very narrow and congested, needs improvement.
Peaceful place 😌❤
This is another Temple of maa Kali. But here she is known a Addya maa . Legends told that she is the primitive form of goddess Kali . Whatever it is. Its calmness can be feel if you went there . There are two Temples one is small and another is big. In both of them you can offer your offerings to the goddess. And there is a maga kitchen who served food for who need it .
Beautiful temple. One must check out the timings before planning the visit.
A place to be to connect with the divinity!😇

Calm and clean place to visit. Vog is available daily. From 11:45 a.m.
Established by Annada Thakur this is a temple dedicated to Devi mahamaya in her form of kali......there is fixed time when the gate of mandir opens and one can get a darshan of devi....no one is allowed to touch the mandir and it is surrounded by high fence.....In evening gate opens at 6:30 PM....There is a story of establishment of this temple and one can know this by reading the book SWAPNOJIBAN the autobiography of annanda thakur

Adyapeath, One of the most celebrated religious places of West Bengal, Adyapith has a rich religious history that adds to the sanctity of the place. Located in the Barrackpore sub division of the North 24 Parganas of the state, Adyapith is one of the revered religious place that draws many devotees who are overwhelmed by the divine sanctity of the temple.Adyapith was founded by Sri Anand Thakur in 1915 after he encountered an unusual dream. Devoted to Adya Maa, the statue of the deity was chipped out of a black stone. After some time the original statue of Adya Maa had to be immersed in the sacred Ganges as per the wishes of the divine entity.

This Temple dedicated to The Supreme Goddess Adya Maa, is the best temple for those true devotees seeking blessings from the goddess and want peace while meditating upon the goddess, and also for those who want to get rid of all the sins by having darshan of the Holy Mother Goddess, by taking the prasad and by starting charitable works with the help of the temple committee. Joy Maa Aadya.
