The rock structures are immensely impressive at this sight. Judging by the view, the format seems very ancient though the exact year of formation of this site is still unknown. The view of a gigantic rock tenaciously balancing on a miniature point of contact is immensely mesmerizing. There are more rocks beside it giving a virtual mini canyon experience. Do visit for a serene experience in miniature valley surrounded by tall rocks.

This is geological miracle in true sense, which is the result of volcanic eruptions that took place thousands of years ago. This balanced roks (stone) located near Madan Mahal. But its looks like local authorities are avoiding this important spot which could improve the tourism industry in Jabalpur.Theres no place to rest or any type of roof or shade for tourists, the way to reach here is also in very bad condition.Govt. should pay more attention to develop this place.Overall can say its a miracle of nature, Id recommend to visit this Balancing Rock at least once.

Amazing to see this ....!!! It maybe the result of volcanic eruption in the past . The stone is staying balanced at narrow point on another stone at ground ....!!!It is not marketed well by local state authorities resulting no crowd at this site . Actually this place lays in the way of MadanMahal . Narrow & sharp turned road . There is either no tourist shelter or transport facilities for this place .It attracted lot of people but no watches on the way .One big information board is on site. I visited this site after reading some books depicting tourist attraction at Jabalpur ..Must see once with family & friend whenever be in Jabalpur .

The Balancing Rocks in Jabalpur is out and out a geological miracle in true sense, which is the result of volcanic eruptions that took place thousands of years ago. The formation of uneven rocks is so complicated that even the expert archaeologists and geologists are clueless about it. I was thrilled to know that even the menacing earthquake of 1997 in Jabalpur was incompatible to make them move apart!

It is one of the tourist attraction at Jabalpur, MP. The main balancing rock is a strange creation of nature and it is staying as it is from ancient time. The physics of these rocks has also attracted a lot of geologists who keep visiting this place. One can walk further up to the Madan Mahal Fort and take a look around or climb up the watchtower in the fort complex to get extensive views of the other rocky formations found around.

A natural wonder, Balancing Rocks are a set of seemingly delicately balanced eroded volcanic rock formations. Although they look precariously positioned, they have withstood earthquakes of magnitude up to 6.5 on the Richter scale. No wonder that the locals believe these rocks to be as invincible as they are incredible. One rock is balanced on a huge base rock and only touches it slightly. The point of contact between the two rocks is only 6 sq inches. It is believed that it is impossible to disturb the balance of this rock. Many tourists and geologists come to observe and understand the mystery of this place. The area is surrounded by picturesque hillocks and makes for a great natural retreat for visitors. The rocks lie very close to the Madan Mahal Fort in Deotal.

A balancing rock, also called balanced rock or precarious boulder, is a naturally occurring geological formation featuring a large rock or boulder, sometimes of substantial size, resting on other rocks, bedrock, or on glacial till. Some formations known by this name only appear to be balancing, but are in fact firmly connected to a base rock by a pedestal or stem. No single scientific definition of the term exists, and it has been applied to a variety of rock features that fall into one of four general categories:A glacial erratic is a boulder that was transported and deposited by glaciers to a resting place on soil, on bedrock, or on other boulders. It usually has a different lithology from the other rocks around it. Not all glacial erractics are balancing rocks; some are firmly seated on the ground. Some balancing erractics have come to be known as rocking stones, also known as logan rocks, logan stones, or logans, because they are so finely balanced that the application of just a small force may cause them to rock or sway. A good example of a rocking stone is the Logan Rock in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom; another is the Trembling Rockin Brittany, France.A perched block, also known as a perched boulder or perched rock, is a large, detached rock fragment that most commonly was transported and deposited by a glacier to a resting place on glacial till, often on the side of a hill or slope. Some perched blocks were not produced by glacial action, but were the aftermath of a rock fall, landslide, or avalanche.[1]An erosional remnant is a persisting rock formation that remains after extensive wind, water, and/or chemical erosion. To the untrained eye, it may appear to be visually like a glacial erratic, but instead of being transported and deposited, it was carved from the local bedrock. Many good examples of erosional remnants are seen in Karlu Karlu/Devils Marbles Conservation Reserve in the Northern Territory of Australia.A pedestal rock, also known as a rock pedestal or mushroom rock, is not a true balancing rock, but is a single continuous rock form with a very small base leading up to a much larger crown. Some of these formations are called balancing rocks because of their appearance. The undercut base was attributed for many years to simple wind abrasion, but is now believed to result from a combination of wind and enhanced chemical weathering at the base where moisture would be retained longest. Some pedestal rocks sitting on taller spire formations are known as hoodoos.
