First visit here. Food excellent and full of flavour. Great service by the two members of staff. Good value for money. Cant fault a thing and will definitely return.
We are here the last time we were in Leith and enjoyed. Our visit on Monday didn’t disappoint. The food was everything we remembered. Pity it was so quiet as that killed the atmosphere a bit.
Popped in on Saturday night, super friendly owner who looked after us well! Great food too authentic is the way I’d describe the food, tasty and very very enjoyable. Definite recommendation.
Both Thai and Indian dishes tasted excellent. Customer service had no faults. Did not feel money was wasted
Went to Mintleaf for dinner last night and we were blown away by the quality of the food - absolutely incredible flavours! We all ordered mains from the Thai section but really enjoyed being able to mix and match elsewhere. I had the duck curry and the seabass salad to start, which was also amazing. Thank you! Look forward to coming back soon.
The staff were very attentive and friendly, which only served, along with a spacious, beautifully decorated interior, to accentuate the excellent food. We had Thai and Indian dishes and both were top-notch. Great place to stop for lunch or a nice romantic dinner in Leith
Brilliant decor, amazing food and great customer service. Was a bit sceptical going to an Indian restaurant in Edinburgh as I live in Birmingham but I must say Mintleaf definitely exceeded my expectations. I recommend it to every reader of this review. Will definitely visit again. Staff were very helpful, humble and accommodated all our requirements. Thank you guys!
Absolutely top food nothing cheap here.Lovely tasting food with excellent portions.2 starters and 2 main courses with a couple of side dishes washed down with 3 bottles of lager between us. Lovely service very quickly bought to the table. Many thanks
Incredible food and service. As leith locals I’m ashamed it has taken me this long to visit. Can’t fault a thing. Can’t wait to revisit, once I wake up from my food coma.
Food and service were top notch, felt so welcome. Great atmosphere even though we visited on a quiet night and as a local I cant wait to bring friends and family here!
I absolutely love the food from this restaurant. Its the best Thai food Ive tasted in the whole of Edinburgh. Good portion sizes and swift delivery. I highly recommend giving this place a try.
Absolutely fantastic. Very tasty and great price. Fantastic customer service
Amazing Indian AND Thai food. Huge range of options on the menu and caters to all dietary requirements! The staff were lovely too and even gave us free pakora. Will definitely be back!
The food here is absolutely amazing. It will always be our first choice for Thai. Delicious and great portion sizes.
Lovely food and atmosphere, you must visit just for the taste of the food.
Food is brilliant here and delivery was super swift. Highly highly recommended.
Delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. Really attentive and friendly service too!
Phenomenal food and friendly service, must visit for a decent curry in Leith! Good for kids
Excellent service . Lamb balti was full of flavour, vegetable pilaw rice was packed with different veg, highly recommed a visit. Spot on.
Lovely restaurant prefect for a romantic dinner! The staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. The menu is divided into Thai and Indian, so that you can choose the perfect dish for your taste buds. The price is also quite convenient, especially considering the amount of food served. Very recommended!
Great food, great service, recommended
Nice food, great decor and lovely staff
Excellent takeaway. Highly recommended!
First visit to Mintleaf, first lockdown lunch. Offered the full menu. Each dish had delicious flavours, meat was tender and decent portions too. Table service was spot on. Reassuring to see covid safety measures being observed. A satisfying lunch and enjoyable afternoon out of the house. Good to know they do a takeaway service too!
Best indian restaurant in Edinburgh!
The best Madras I have ever had and the service was great. Will definitely be back next time we are in the area
Great for an Indian curry. Lovely naan bread too.
Absolutely fantastic. Great menu with a number of unique/specialty meals plus all your favourites. Great decor and service. Loads of flavour and the right amount of spice. They also did a fantastic pickle & chutney selection.
Great food and friendly staff made us feel very welcome
Stayed at the Malmaison and didnt fancy food at the hotel. This decadent restaurant is only a short walk from the hotel and I recieved really good service and the food was excellent !
Visited on a Monday night with four colleagues. There food was excellent. Very fresh and delicious. The staff were great and always on hand. Thoroughly recommended!
Had a takeaway on Friday night, all very last minute. Absolutely amazing food and great service.
Lovely food, service and very nice setting. Will he back
The food was amazing! I had the panang and it was so delicious. The service is very good too, the people that run the restaurant are so friendly and welcoming. Great food, great service, would definitely eat here again!
Thank you for the great service and food. Food tasted great so fresh and not oily like some others . It was cooked with quality ingredients and tasted well. Decor of the restaurant was nice too. I recommend this restaurant to anyone visiting the area . 5 out of 5 stars for sure ..
I have been a regular of Mintleaf restaurant for many years. Outstanding food and service each time I visit. You will not find better.
Fabulous tasty food. Excellent service. Friendly staff who made us feel welcome.
Came here solo for dinner as I was travelling for work. I had a veggie Indian curry, delicious. The size of the portion would have easily fed two people. Despite not having had lunch I couldnt finish it all! Very polite service too.
Exceptional restaurant for both Indian and Thai food. Everything is very fresh and comes in very generous portions. I’d highly recommend visiting or calling up for takeaway.
Wish I could split the review by service and food, but our experience was terrible; I would consider for takeaway but I personally have no desire to give this restaurant my business. We ordered Indian dishes that were tasty. However, the service was awful, we were treated rudely when they bothered noticing we were there, and the entire experience felt like a money grab. When we asked for tap water, the waiter repeatedly asked if we wanted sparkling or still. When we asked for a pitcher, it happened again. One member of our party has a medical condition that requires water to eat any meal, so this was necessary. We got ignored during the entire meal, which took forever to come out (no appetizers), and they seemed to intentionally take time giving us a bill when we asked for it (Youll have to wait, the man said, and engaged in a pointless conversation with our waiter). At the end of all this and the worst service weve had in the UK, they had the audacity to ask if we wanted to tip. We are obviously American and we suspect they were hoping we didnt know the tipping differences. That was a hard no.Maybe they treated us differently because we were American, though I cant say the same anywhere else in the UK or, specifically, Scotland. We were excited for a good Indian meal but did not feel welcome, whatever the reason.
Quality Indian food with fun decor. The service was both extremely helpful and very friendly. While the food may not have been flawless (still delicious, dont get me wrong) what little it lacked was made for with generous portions and the ability to request changes. Good for spicy-shy diners, picky eaters, and those with allergies. Overall a great experience and one that those seeking Indian cuisine in the Edinburgh area should seek out.
We picked up a take away as we do every now and again. We live in East Lothian but think it is well worth the journey as the food and service is so good.
Excellent food, and great service. Decor is lovely, though the absence of background music, combined with the high ceilings, makes the dining experience a bit like a school canteen. Regardless, still the best Indian restaurant that weve found in Leith - thoroughly recommended.
Fantastic food and service. We got a takeaway and loved it. Definitely one to try and well be back for sure. We drive a short 40miles to collect it - worth it.
The food here was beautiful, but the service was even better ! We had such a nice welcome into the restaurant and the waiter took time to have a chat with us and asked polite, light questions without been intrusive! The food is cooked fresh and we were told it may take 20-30 mins, but this gap was filled with a starter and some wine! The food was delicious when it arrived. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also fabulous.
We have never been here before (just in town visiting) and the staff was very friendly and helpful. They gave us recommendations, and at the end of the meal gave us chocolate mints and tea. The meals were fresh and moderately large sizes. Overall, a great experience and price.
First time to mintleaf, went for dinner. Our host, a lovely lady, helped us choose an extra dish, made some brilliant choices, and our server, a young lad, was friendly and helpful! 5 star, delicious food, couldn’t be happier
Ive been here 10 plus times now and had 10 plus excellent meals. The decor is really different for an Indian restaurant, moody and dark but its really smart, works really well and makes you forget where you are. The staff are always very friendly and attentive too.We usually skip starters and just have some poppadoms to tide us over until the main course. The pickle tray that comes with the poppadoms is always fresh and delicious. The spiced onions are fresh and tasty without being harsh and raw like some restaurants offer. The chili sauce is also a treat, spicy and flavoursome without being too hot and its certainly not sweet. The main courses are always freshly prepared and bursting with flavour from the spices and sauces. The lamb is tender, meaty and succulent. This is definitely my favourite Indian restaurant in Edinburgh now. I havent tried the Thai dishes but Im sure theyre equally as good. I cant wait to go back again!
The service was fine, but I cant recommend the food. I guess the combination of Indian and Thai might be a give-away, since they are very different styles of cuisine and dont really mix. I had a Pad Thai and it didnt have any of the freshness, simplicity or aromatic flavours of what I would expect. The meat had been broiled beforehand instead of work fried and had a grey heavy texture.
The restaurant is really cosy and beautiful inside. You can feel the exotic vibe from the decor. The chefs are really good at their work, so I will recommend you to go and try the food there. The staff is really kind and helpful. If you want to try some Indian food, this is the place for you :)
Worst service I’ve received in Edinburgh. We arrived having pre-booked as a large table. The service was very slow (it took an hour and 40 mins from seating for our mains to arrive) and when it was brought up to staff they had a terrible attitude and tried to palm us off with free food that we didn’t want. They also forgot one person in the party’s meal and when we mentioned we weren’t happy the dish was thrown onto the table as the waitress went into a huff. I won’t return and I won’t recommend to anyone I know we will go to one of the many other restaurants in Leith in future. This is a shame as the food wasn’t bad but the service left a very sour taste in our mouths.
Loved it here food is great and wine is fab will defo be back soon
Great service, nice waiters. Food was delicious even though it was kind of spicy. I can only recommend that you order papadam with chutney for starters.Really nice looking place and tasting place, recommended!
The place is lovely inside, staff are very friendly and helpful and food was really good!!! Water is SUPER expensive, but besides that everything was great. We ordered both thai and indian dishes and were surprised with how tasty they were. I really recommend this place!!!!
Once again we were delighted with the food and service - a Friday evening and the place was just comfortably full - ourselves and 2 friends who had not yet been to Mintleaf - we told them a treat was in store - and so it was.
Sorry just been to mintleaf all the reviews looked great not our experience tonight the staff really wernt bothered about us just wanted to finish early I know it Christmas but they said they were open till 11
I’m lucky to live a few minute walk from this little gem. I’ve always ordered to take out but this is a beautiful restaurant (I love the lights) staff are always really warm and friendly. The vindaloo curry is absolutely delicious.
Loved the food and beautiful decorTreated very warmly from Sonom and MiahWill be back !
I havent been here for afew years after a disastrous meal which is best forgotten ( 2 prawns in a main course?😨) one of those nights😣 maybe they have new owners as Im suprised its still open😮
Food is excellent and manager is super friendly, we keep coming back. Both the Indian and Thai styles are cooked well, subtle spiced flavour. Try the sea bass starters
Very good Indian food. They are very kind. Consigliato da italiano
Have never sat in or tried their Thai dishes but have had several takeaways that have been consistently superb! Have tried many of their dishes and never been disappointed - highly recommended 👌
Beautiful food. We were a party of 12, yet this didnt impact the service we received. Menu is half Thai, half Indian, but all was amazing
1st time we have been here. Staff and food where great. Value for money
Absolutely delicious, Im surprised I hadnt heard of the place before. Great from a work do. Tasty, generous dishes.
Really tasty curries mix of Thai and Indian. Good friendly service. excellent malbec wine by the glass.
This is a confused place. First off the food was 50/50, my vegetarian curry was excellent but the lamb dish was stringy. We were asked if we wanted a drink by 3 separate waiting staff but none of them could produce a drinks menu. If you like guessing games this is the way ahead.
Horrible thai food. Myself and my friend visited this place hopping for some good indian/thai cousin. Unfortunately - we both were disappointed . The waitress offered papadoms and chutneys not mentioning that we had to pay extra for both of them . We asked for the same dish but one more spicy . We got the same, very watery consistency of a soup thai sauce... when I asked kindly if it would be possible to make it less spicy as it was too hot for me, my food was taken away and came back after 2 min swimming in the coconut milk ,and thats what i got charged extra 2 pounds for .my friends food was too salty . We also asked three times for the bill but unfortunatelly both of the waitress were busy being on the phones. The couple who was sitting next to us were also sitting with empty plates for a while...definitely not worth recomandation - its a money grab rather then nice relaxing place.
Fantastic food. Good service. Friendly staff.
One of the best curries Ive had in my life. And because I bought pakora for a homeless guy on the street, he added poppadums and coconut rice, for free. Lovely restaurant and kind staff. X
The food was absolutely delightful, especially the naan that was perfectly tasty and light! We only tried Indian dishes but they were all spiced to perfection.
The food is just amazing very tasteful, unfortunately place itself so cold I never took my jacket off while dining there.
My forever favourite place for dining, couldnt recommend more 🥰
A Thai-Indian restaurant, located in a beautiful surroundings, that offers a wider variety of Asian dishes for those seeking something different for the day💙🙎♀️🧙♂️.
Really good food! The restaurant is really well finished and service is efficient.
Amazing food and fantastic service. My new favourite Thai and Indian.
Really great food, sat by the fire and enjoyed a lovely dinner! Fantastic service
Best indian we have had, food is so tasty, staff are lovely and restaurant is stunning. Thanks for a lovely evening!
Lovely grub, nice atmosphere
Good but more expensive than advertised
I have been there for the first time tonight . The atmosphere was quite cosy and warm. The landlady was really friendly and so helpful to make the right choice on the menu, she came over to explain what I could eat and looked very carefully after my intolerances. Was a great night with excellent food and service. I must say thank you to her and to Melissa, the waitress, that was so attentive and professional for this unique experience.
Great night, staff friendly and attentive, food, amazing choice, and not let down by the taste
Food was very good
Very helpful lady good prices
A bit dark inside but great curry.
Ordered the thai red curry and it was very good. Portion size was enough for two
Worst experience Ive ever had: the service was terrible. It made me irrationally agitated. The food was nice though.Id order from there, just dont sit in.
Visited here for the first time at the weekend to order a carryout. The food was so good and tasty that I will definitely be back.
Food is good but I think is overpriced, currys are nice so the nans aswell...Expensive place for what they really serve.
Food was excellent. Great atmosphere. Nice decor.
Food was great, service was better. They went out of their way to accommodate us
Good food worth a try
Have been 3 times and looking forward to our next visit! Delicious and fresh food with a side of friendly service!
Great restaurant offering Thai and Indian food. It has a great atmosphere and ambience and the food is excellent.
