This Indian restaurant specialising in South Indian cuisine serves up really tasty dishes. We were craving for a good dosa and Tanjore came to the rescue. Have to say, it really felt like eating things right back in India. Very happy. Try their mutton dishes. I will be back for more.

Another good South Indian restaurant in Edinburgh .Friendly staffs, very good food and friendly atmosphere. Customers can bring their own bottles, no bar facility at the location. They make fresh parota at the restaurant that is unusual in general among other places. Fresh and tasty egg parota a must try.

It really pains me to make this review because we came two years ago and had an absolutely wonderful time. This year, however, left a lot to be desired, for a start (and this is minor) we werent able to have the same large dosai from the menu that we had had before because of covid, fair enough, lets carry on... The service was shocking, when we entered the restaurant was empty, yet we still had to ask for service to order our food. The food was the only redeeming point, obviously didnt get what we came for but the food was still great. We had to ask for the bill twice before being able to pay (at this point one family had been and gone, the restaurant wasnt busy at all, another family was eating. One member of staff was waiting and another cooking which shouldnt have been an issue, yet it was).TL;Dr the experience we had this time pales in comparison to last time, I hope to give them another chance next time in in Edinburgh.

Delicious food. Authentic South Indian taste for someone who loves South Indian food. Filter coffee was super hot and perfect. We tried sambar vada, the sambar was super yummy. Vada was crispy and fulfilled my expectations. Mysore masala dosa was of good quantity and had the perfect taste with three different kinds of chutney. Vegetable Kothu parotta was also good had lil more veggies than parotta but was tasty as well. The staff were very kind and courteous.Service is a little slow but since it is prepared freshly it was worth the wait. Overall a very homely experience. Worth trying, highly recommended.

Super clean food. Fresh beyond comparison. Staff were really considerate and they were busy too. Had no expectation of being served like I was more important than anyone else at a busy time. But still received our order within 15mins, which is great given that its cooked from fresh to order. Had such a great experience Im on my way back there now - which is why Im on Google maps trying to fathom the route from where I am. Awesome food. Great place. But ignore my review and go have your own experience. 🔴

The worst south indian food I ever had.Sambar doesnt taste like a sambar. The mysore masala dosa, oh god, the dosa batter was so old, due to the bad fermentation, the dosa was too tangy and the sides for dosa is not upto the level.Tanjore chicken is nothing but a chicken pakoda.Had some halwa, which is nothing but a moongdal and jaggery mix. Thats not how you make a halwa.Above all, We got our table nearby kitchen, their employees kept chatting and at some point they were fighting with the manager and it was soooo annoying.Im a South indian and I know this food doesnt taste like a South indian.

We ordered two masala dosas and it was nothing special but a normal dosa infact you can get much better ones in other Indian Restaurants. Also, Sambhar quantity is very less, so you definitely need more and pay extra for it. Our experience was not that good and i think this is highly overarated and overpriced place.

Best South Indian meals ever in Edinburgh. The only downside are the waiting times and the limited seating availability. The chefs cooking is awesome. Do try out Tanjore fish fry and mutton chukka. Best value for money. I literally cried when tasting the biryani. It was exactly like the biriyanis in South India. Would urge all to try and check this place out

This is like finding a home away from home. My wife and I are very fond of masala dosa and when we saw this outlet serving just that in Scotland, we had to give it a try. We lived the filter coffee and dosa there. It was authentic, crispy and very delicious. We spoke to the owner as well and she was a very lovely lady. We went there another time after that and were lucky to even get a table as the restaurant was fully booked. We loved the food second time as well. It was nice to get south Indian delicious food in Scotland and that too tasty enough to beat a few restaurants in South India!!

Cant recommend highly enough. This is a big call, and weve discussed this at length on the way home, but were pretty sure this is the best Indian meal any of us has had.The good range of veggie options was a good sign from the start. We had the paneer peas masala and channa masala. Im stuffed, but I could eat either one again by the spoonload. Our very helpful waitor suggested getting a couple of parotta, which were also delicious. Its a no-frills setting, which might not be to everyones taste, but suits us down to the ground. BYOB with no corkage, which is a bonus.

We ordered some masala dosa and some veg biryani rice with chicken dry fry starter (Tanjore fry).Overall a great experience and I can honestly say the masala dosa served at this place is far better than other places in Edinburgh which offer the same.Masala dosa was good, could have done with slightly bigger portion of the Sambar.Veg biryani was a good too spicy and won’t recommendable if you don’t like spice but rice was good nicely.Only negative I would say is the cash only payment option; as in the current pandemic the best way to make payments would be card payments and also not all customers would be carrying cash at all times.Menu needs a bit of upgrade and I’m sure if the management is able to make these changes then more footfall or orders would come through.Overall a good experience and would definitely try the masala dosas again from this place.

This is a cash only establishment but there is an cash machine across the road. Our server was great and she walked us through the menu giving us suggestions on what to order and what would be the best sharing dishes. To start, we got the potato bonda which was amazing. It had great flavour and paired very well with the sauce that it came with. The chicken masala dosai was pretty good but I was looking for some stronger flavours. The parotta was great with the chicken Karaikudi but again was also looking for some stronger flavours.

This is a great, authentic South Indian restaurant. It can be busy and you can book though if you just turn up they will do their best to accommodate you. Horrible customer service. We came in and the place was completely empty but the waitress said that theyre fully booked and sat us at the back so we could see the back of the counter. Wasnt pleasant to eat/drink while they were mopping the floor. When we told the waiters wed like to move they said in Tamil whats their problem now not knowing that were Tamilians and understood. Wouldve gotten more but the attitude brought the place down. After just having coffee we left and gave them feedback about how its empty and they still sat us at the back and they responded with we have customers coming in at this time as if we werent customers. If youre not a person of colour they would probably sit you in a nice place and give you top notch service.Food was good coffee was not great.
