Bhagirathi & AlaknandaMighty DevPrayag 🚩♥️
Wonderful place one should experience the moments. Plying of two wheeler can b avoided to prevent nature n beauty of the place.
Its a old looking suspension bridge for walking and the only way to roam around. It symbolises the Uttrakhand famous bridges around. Love to walk around.
Ohh what a beautiful place.... Enjoy the nature from the bridge.
Devotional place of ram bhagwan
So nice view from bridge of river alaknanda
Fantastic place for adventure lover and holistic people in small town surrounded by rivers and mountains
Avery nice place where you can see natures glamour
So beautiful to look down from there... Beautiful Holy ganges
Here Meet to river like bhilngna and bhagirathi that called Gange from here.beautiful Garhwal .
Very nice place to visit... Amazing natural view and the Sangam is too beautiful.. Around 350 kms drive from Delhi, only 50 kms hill drive, roads are very good. Best time to visit is between October to April. Its more of a big village, only couple of guest houses available and parking at your own risk...
The view is great. You can feel the mighty waterflow atop the bridge which is very intimidating
Safe and reliable way to cross the Bhagirathi to reach the Sangam. About 30 meters long and 2 meters wide. Two wheelers allowed. Wonderful view of the river and the rapids below. Can see the Sangam from here. There are two approach roads from the main road. Either one takes about 5-8 minutes to reach the Sangam. Many small shops and eateries on the approach road.
A beautiful place where one can see the meeting point of two Holly rivers Alaknanda and Bhagirathi, after that its name is Ganga. The place is also known as Devlok.Must pay a visit.
Devprayag (Deva prayāga) is a town and a nagar panchayat (municipality) in Tehri Garhwal district in the state of Uttarakhand, India, and is one of the Panch Prayag (five confluences) of Alaknanda River where Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers meet and take the name Ganga.Devprayag is the last prayag of River Alaknanda. Devprayag is located on the Rishikesh-Badrinath highway.Devaprayāga means Godly Confluence in Sanskrit. As per Hindu scriptures, Devaprayaga is the sacred event of merging two heavenly rivers, Alakananda and Bhagirathi, to form the holy Ganga.
A good bridge for going to sangam of alaknanda and bhagirathi.
You can stand days together the Mighty Bhagirathi flowing rapidly to meet Alkananda and flow down as GANGA NADI.
Very nice and traditional place where Ganga river flows
Devprayag, 37 Kms from Biasi and 70 km from Rishikesh, is the first important town on this route. Here the Bhagirathi from Gaumukh and the Alaknanda from Alkapuri glaciers north of Sri Badrinath meet and become the sacred Ganga. In the literal sense, Devprayag is the birthplace of the Ganga and is next only to Prayagraj in its importance as a confluence. It is a delightful and fascinating sight to watch the Bhagirathi, and Alaknanda mingling to form the Ganga that flows majestically through sculptured channels carved through the rocks. This sight reminds one of the story of King Bhagirath’s undaunted efforts in carrying the Ganga in a canal to the Ashram of sage Kapil where the ashes of 60000 sons of king Sagar were to be cleansed. Garhwal is known for five Prayags ( Panch Prayags) and Dev Prayag is the first of these to be followed by Rudra Prayag, Karna Prayag, Nand Prayag and Vishnu Prayag. These three great rivers ie Bhagirathi, Alaknanda and Ganga have carved out three angular blocks of land around the Sangam and the town is picturesquely set into these conical formations. The confluence area is extremely rocky and the houses have been constructed with surprising ingenuity in this difficult land formation. Most interesting are the bridges that connect the three blocks of the town and the narrow lanes carved out of the rocks.Visitors are happy to visit the Sangam and enjoy a refreshing bath. It is at the sangam where pind (a prasadam made of flour balls) is offered to ancestors. One has to be extremely careful while at the sangam as the steps can be slippery and the waters can be ruthlessly sweeping. The iron chains provided on the steps should always be used as safety measure. The most important temple at Devprayag is the temple of Raghunathji, which was first constructed by the Maharaja of Tehri Garhwal. This temple was damaged in an earthquake in 1803 and was renovated by one Dev Sharma, a follower of Ramanujacharya. The existing temple is the one reconstructed by Daulat Rao Scindia who had once come here on pilgrimage. The temple is 80 ft high with a tall image of Lord Vishnu made of black granite. Sri Vishnu and Sri Raghunath ji are two names of the same ultimate One.There also is a small temple in Devprayag known as Bharat Mandir. It is said that when the Bharat Mandir of Rishikesh was feared to be the target of Aurangzeb’s religious adventurism, the pujaris fled Rishikesh with the idol of Bharatji and installed the same in a small make shift temple at Devprayag for some time. When the clouds of persecution passed over, the pujaris took the idol back to Rishikesh, but the small temple at Devprayag continues to be known as Bharat Mandir in recluse.
Nice and beautiful place as this is my second visit to this place
This cross over bridge at the Sangam of Bhaghiradhi and Alaknanda river which starts Ganga river there after. You enjoy the silence of the melodies river flow.
Dev Prayag is a popular religious and hitorical place because of sangam(union) of two holy rivers namely Bhagirathi and Alakhnanda. After the union of these two rivers, the United river is Ganges. After killing Ravana the great Brahimin, Shri Rama did penace at this place. He also did Pind-dan for granting peace to the soul of his father the king Dashratha. It is calm and quiet place.
Its good for travel
Breathtaking view of Bhagirathi river and Sangam at Devaprayag. The bridge is more than hundred years old. You can have panoramic view of the Sangam where river Ganga is born. After Sangam of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi at Devaprayag, the river is named as Ganga
