Our experience here couldve been a lot better but it wasnt fabulous like we had heard. Meat was tough and found hair in our rice but overall the spice and flavor was on point and presentation was also very good

I kept forgetting that portions in NZ are rather larger. Dishes here are no exception and we nearly ordered 3 dishes. We ordered the pork vegetables stir fried and duck curry. They are generous with the meat portion.In terms of taste, it’s authentically Thai. We asked for the higher spice level. It was delicious 😋

This is definitely my most favourited Thai eatery in the whole of CHC. Its also my go-to for comfort food. The Pad Thai here is really up to par with some of the ones in Thailand itself, although it has some missing ingredients. Cant remember what we ordered but everything was great. Its actually not the first time Im dining here. Ive religiously been coming here whenever I come to NZ.

Had THE most amazing dinner at Kum Pun restaurant last night. The service from all the staff was impeccable. The presentation of the food was amazing and the tastiest I have ever had. If I am ever in Christchurch again, this will be my go to restaurant.

Beautifully decorated restaurant with a cozy yet sophisticated atmosphere. The ceiling is covered in faux leaves and the lighting is surrounded by bird cages giving the restaurant are really unique style. Theres lots of great Thai food to choose from the menu, I tried the green chicken curry which was delicious. Meals also had great portion sizes. The staff were attentive and friendly.

Great food, each dish adequate for single guy. Not much expenses. Medium spicy is Thai / Indian medium spicy so know what you order. Enjoy the good ambience and quick clean service

Our favourite spot for a BYO! I planned a surprise dinner for my husbands birthday - the staff suggested we preorder due to the number of our group and it was a great idea as it meant the meals were all ready to go when we arrived. Always friendly and welcoming service, and delicious food!

Great service by the guy serving us outside though he was busy. Food is good. Its authentic Thai taste but I guess the main portion size can be increased. One more staff can ease the wait times at the table during dinner a bit. But service quality is excellent. Will go back again.

Food was beautiful, servers were lovely and the restaurant is clean with a relaxing atmosphere. Only marked down one star due to the small dessert menu, though thats often not included at Thai restaurants. Still worth the visit if youre in the mood for good Thai and good vibes.

We went with a party of 17. Tian the manager recommended the $35 set menu for us. The food was amazing, authentic and made everyone think of their travels in Thailand. I absolutely loved the place, great setting, service and most importantly the food.only slight was we werent served the desert in our set menu but everyone was so full and happy it didnt bother us.Genuine 5 star recommendation!

We had friends round for takeaways on the weekend. Google searched Thai food and these guys popped up.The online ordering system was modern and user friendly. Prices seemed very reasonable. 2 starters ,4 mains change for $100 not bad.Meal was ready for collection in 20 min (7pm on a Saturday) , Delivery was a option for another $10.Our meals were excellent. The Curries (ordered hot) had plenty of flavor and not over the top spicy.All in all would recommend this place for takeaways. When I collected the place was packed however the staff all smiled when I collected.Currently there is Road Works on Victoria street which must be a real hassle for the Businesses there. I had to park in the Casino taxi stand and run across, which provoked lots of angry toots from the uber drivers.

We have been here many times and the food has been fabulous each time. The stars and moneybags (starters) are amazingly yummy and go down especially well, there is always a fight for the last ones. The main meals have all been superb and the wait staff helpful and timely. Would thoroughly recommend eating here.

I really felt like some vegetables so opted for Thai, I ordered the vegetable oyster dish and some rice paper rolls, it cost $39. I am so disappointed! Hardly any vegetables at all, dish half full with some soggy tofu, no flavour and a tiny container of rice, rice paper rolls tofu were just lettuce wrapped in rice paper with a tiny slither of tofu, lettuce brown on the edges! An absolute waste of money ... I could have cooked a better dish at home! So annoying! Terrible tasting !!!

Red Curry with Chicken is amazing (especially when you get it spicy). Ive gone here almost every Thursday for lunch for years, never had a bad experience with the food or service.Also, free jelly beans! Co-workers and I have a running competition to see how many we can scoop out with the provided teaspoon.

Tastes authentic with warm service and relaxed ambience. Our first time here in Christchurch and we were recommended to eat here from a local. The Tom Yum soup, chicken larb and Pad Thai were standard Thai fare but the taste were amazing. Nothing standard here. Worth your time and effort if you are feeling like reasonably priced Thai food that punches well above its weight. Well be back.

I have been here frequently for $12 special lunch. So cheap for the great food and friendly and attentive service. I also enjoy occasional dinners here with my friends. Pad Thai and cashew nut stir fried are my favorite. Yummy..bonus point for stunning interior decor with green leaf ceiling that will wow u for the first time! Highly recommend this place!

The food is ok but unfortunately Kum Pun lost a 5 star rating as it would be great if the cut of meat used for all dishes was a tenderloin cut not rib eye, also fresh vegetables would be good too .. i found the beef and lamb chewy and the veges soft..For the prices charged, the customer deserves quailty produce

We get takeout once a month, never disappointed with these people. Ring up, walk down, foods ready in under 5 minutes. Friendly staff. Food is nice, a tad small for my liking but otherwise the fresh vegetables and what ever protein you pick works well.

The staff are so friendly and attentive. I only wish I could have sampled more of the menu but there is waistline to consider. The Pad Thai sauce with the spring rolls was amazing as were the Panang Curry Pork and the Pad Satay. My new favourite Thai restaurant in Christchurch.

Been there last night and I was very disappointed. The smallest meal for the highest price. Red curry was $32 and it was the size of one packet of Mi goreng instant noodle. Seriously, I ordered 2 entrees and 3 main dishes spending $120 there and still wasnt full so I had to go McDonald to eat more. Spring rolls were sour, beef in the red curry was so hard to chew and started hurting my teeth. Unless you have money rotting in the rubbish bin I strongly suggest not to go this restaurant. Honestly, if you guys want to charge so much for the meals, in my opinion, the foods have to taste exceptionally good but taste was average just like back street thai food take away shops. It just looks like you guys wanted to be a fine dining restaurant and charge a lot but obviously it is not the case. Foods are expensive as hell with the quality of foods just being average.

Went here for a work Christmas dinner in 2018 as it is one of the only central city BYO restaurants left! We were very impressed with the atmosphere, menu selection, and location. Our meals were amazing, and the peanut satay stirfry was one of the best I have had. Super choice!

I just finished eating dinner ordering Tum Yum soup and Panang (spelled differently in the menu) Curry$ 23. Before I sat down I was told at the cashiers station that the Tum Yum soup with prawns comes with seafood for $16.When I got the bill the Tum Yum was $19 and the Panang was $24. If they have trouble with their language skills they shouldnt be answering questions that changes the price the menu states. The waitress said that its $3 extra for the seafood in the Tum Yum soup.Some of the reviews led me to believe there were generous portions at this restaurant. No way.The portions were on the small side. Two cups of food for the curry and the guests accompanying me, also had smilar portions.The quality was good at least and Im grateful since things could have been a whole lot worsePerhaps Im writing this poor review because my expectations were higher than what I had received and my friends who could have eaten more. They both finished with nothing left on their plates. They did like the food.No worries. The food was good. The people working were polite and agreed to turn down the sound so we could talk. The environment was protected with no wasted food. I paid a few dollars extra. Perhaps I shouldnt be complaining, since my stomach was happy and Ive got a smile on my face.I wont be coming back though. There are many good Thai restaurants in Christchurch still waiting to be visited.

One of the best Thai restaurants Ive eaten at. Weve ordered the Tom Yum prawn soup which is my favorite soup, and this one was just great! We also ordered two mains, one chili and basil duck and a pad med ma-muang (cashew nut and veg chicken) which were amazing. Weve even ordered extra rice just to make sure there was nothing left on the plates although we were full already!The service was exceptional and the portion size is big. The prices are also very reasonable.Do yourself a favor and go there.

Went here on a Saturday with a large group of Ladies and found the service wonderful but the food was a bit of a let down unfortunately especially mine.I ordered the duck curry and asked for mild but what came to the table was not mild at all and the duck was cooked too tough,like rubber not melt in your mouth tender.Portion size of my meal was not worth $28 so I dont think I will be coming back here sorry.

I dined at Kum Pun Thai last night…Jan 8/13 and it was fabulous. The service was very prompt and friendly, our meals arrived within ten minutes and both were perfectly cooked and absolutely delicious!! Would recommend +++++

Our initial dinner was to Spice Paragon but it was fully booked. We changed our plan to Kum Pun, it didnt disappoint us at all. My family enjoyed it pretty much. We ordered Tomyam Prawn, Chicken Cashew Nut, Phad Thai & Paprik Fish. All the dishes was good & perfect portion for group of 5.Part 2We came back again for second time. Ordered assorted vegetables, lamb shank, & of course Phad Thai & tomyam prawn again. You will never disappointed. Perfect dinner before leaving New Zealand. Thanks for good food.
