Excellent value for money. The taste is great. The restaurant has a pleasant and relaxed atmosphere. Background noise is not a problem, it is a good place for group discussion. Very friendly service. The option to bring your own drinks is also great!

Deserves every single star!! Had absolutely amazing food here and definitely would come again. Someone came to pick up for free and took us to the restaurant from our motal. All the staff there are very nice and friendly. Food is a 100/10, I got chicken fried rice and it was amazing, recommended to anyone visiting Christchurch.

This was the worst experience Ive had in a long time. The restaurant did not set up the right amount of people on the booking. The service was lack due to the amount of people coming in for takeaway. There was 1.5 hour delay in having the good served once ordered. They forgot to serve the entrees (which were ordered for the children in the group). Took another 20 mins for them to arrive once we asked for them. They may have good service when quite but they cannot seem to cater for a busy night. Its just terrible

I wouldn’t go back again! We went there as we were new to CHCH, love Thai food! Celebrating a millstone in our family we decided to go out for dinner.... We called earlier to make sure we had a table- 7 people, 4 kids 3 adults, well all I can say is what the hell happened Abalone???? 1hr wait for starters and had to tell them they only brought us half the order. Now we wait.... 1.5 hrs later our mains arrived in drips and draps. I’ve never tasted bland food like that with Thai, ordered hot and I had no spice at all!!!! Sent back, came back kinda okay. My daughter received her food last and it was chicken and chip, what the hell???? So easy to cook!!! The waitress staff, continued to say I’m sorry we busy.... Really? Not that busy guys? And even if you busy, look after your customers. I’m really disappointed! When I pay $20 for a main for a family of 7, I expect better!

Very tasty except the big size soup is very small. Ps, we saw a celebrity there but seems no one else noticed.

Before I review the actual restaurant I just wanted to the staff who were very friendly and Very helpful. They offered to serve a table of 6 15 minutes before closing. The actual restaurant was a great environment and the fish tank provided a nice touch when eating. Would 100% recommend going. The 4.4 stars is well deserved and would give a 4.5

My wife and I dined at Abalone on a Saturday night and chose spring rolls to start and then peanut pad thai, tofu fried rice and Roti. We loved the yummy food. The service was polite, discreet and prompt. I also enjoyed the music playing softly in the background and watching the colourful fish in the Abalones large fish tank

Solid Thai takeaways, would recommend. We had Pad Thai and Beef Pad Peanut Sauce (stir fried veg and beef with Thai peanut sauce and rice). The peanut sauce dish was great with big servings and lots of flavour, but there was less Pad Thai (2/3 of the size of the other) and the flavour was a bit lacking. But still solid food which satisfied us and better than we expected.

I have been to this restaurant several times over a number of years and it never fails to deliver great tasting Thai food. If you have never tried it I suggest you go. Plenty of parking in Bishopdale Mall/New World car park. Service from Natalie was exceptional.

Ducked in for some takeaway Pad Thai and spring rolls. The place itself is pretty garish with LED lighting yet at the same time kind of fits the bill. Theres a groovy LED-backlit abalone/paua shell shaped map of New Zealand on the wall by the counter.Pad Thai is very good. The spice balance is only slightly lacklustre but there is a nice level of tamarind that makes it. Spring rolls were clearly from frozen but hey, most places are, so you know what to expect.Portion size is very generous. I got one serve and it will last me at least two meals, and I eat pretty big. Overall good value.

My friend an myself came here for a ladys date and i couldnt fault any of the dishes they were beyond amazing the starter was absolutely delicious i could if just had that 5x over !! The meal was amazing also and large portions definitely reccomend going there !!! You wont be dissapointed!!

Comfortable place with easy access and plenty of parking, great service, lovely food and reasonably priced. Lots of room but you may still need to book at the busier times.

Food is only okay, customer service is okay, towards the bad side with both. Not worth that visit if u r a tourist, ambience is nice but many more good options to eat in Christchurch
