I did my Masters degree here and I enjoyed every moment of my college life. Huge opportunities knock your door here. Staffs are mostly intelligent with sound knowledge of the subject.Since its a government college you cant expect perfect infrastructure. I didnt have any classes after noon 95% of my college life there. If you dont get a seat on IIT or NIT just go for it πŸ™‚.

Subsequently, on the formation of Anna University in 1978, MIT became one of the constituent institutions of the university and hence, the department has also become a department of Anna University, they started awarding the Degree B.Tech, three year Engineering Degree course to (B.Sc)science graduates.Over the years, the institute has expanded its original programme and now offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses in Production Engineering, Rubber and Plastics Technology, Computer Science Engineering and Information Technology. The institute accepts students who have passed the 12th board examinations for its four year undergraduate programme from 1996.Instrumentation and Control did not exist in India as a subject of study in 1949. Now, this branch of applied science and technology has become important in industry, and past students of MIT now hold key positions in research and development organisations, manufacturing industries and educational institutions within the country and abroad.

This is a starting point for many people in this world. I said world because, the people from this college is spread across the world. The world famous Dr.A.P.J.Abdul Kalam was a student here. This college is also a bad influence on many people because of the education system. This college has all the amenities to make everyone a great humanitarian but its all in the path we choose and the effort that we make. For me it was both, as I didnt learn the engineering part completely but has learned a lot of life lessons here which over shadows the negative happened in this college. So, I give it a 5 star.

Review β„–74

Please do read through this well. I am an ex-student of this college. Ill first go through the positives. This place is spacious, is good enough to be called an engineering college, and sort of provides you with a study environment. There is a train station right outside, and the airport is 2 train stops away. There are many restaurants, grocery shops and other shops surrounding the college that will satisfy your requirement. The college is sort of well maintained. Ive assumed cleanliness is not a priority there as you will find a lot of garbage lying around. Many trees were cut down during the course of my studies inorder to bring up more buildings. Only thing I loved about the place was the long road from the main gate to the hostel gate. I love taking long walks. There are some professors that go out of their way to make you understand certain topics that are difficult. As for the hostels, the food for me was terrible. Hostel mates werent as friendly. Youd by now understand why this was the case for me. Its just one single factor that has this sort of an effect, being an NRI.Unfortunately, if you fall under the category of an NRI and have trouble speaking Tamil, I suggest you dont go to any college in Tamil Nadu, particularly MIT.First off, there is this separate distinction just for NRIs accompanied by a ridiculous amount of fees which, in their words, is a donation. Pretty ridiculous for an average college. I was able to get into another college in Kerala for a fee that is 10 times less, and the education at least 3 times better. Keep in mind they knew I was an NRI.Next, if the staff and students find out youre an NRI, they will shun you. Even worse, if they find out you dont understand Tamil, they will take advantage. Im sorry, but MIT only has a name due to Dr. Abdul Kalam studying here and being blessed enough to become the president. They do not follow the english medium course rule. Teachers will switch to Tamil if its the easier way to get a portion done faster and easier. You will struggle to get along. For me, it was the main cause for a hindrance in my studies. There is no point of being there if, everyday, you have this feeling of demotivation and ignorance. You will have a hard time studying or even thinking straight. Im not a person to judge, and I love keeping friendly ties. This college however, would not let that be possible.Ive gone to MIT a year ago to get my TC. There was one superintendent who was amazingly helpful to get it done (keep in mind, she knew I was not tamilian and yet was so eager to help me out). Then there was the librarian. I unfortunately lost one of the library books. I agreed to pay for it. They wanted me to buy it instead. I spent a whole day searching for that book all around book stores in Chennai and didnt find any. I get back to them and they say I can just pay for it. It was too late as banks had closed. Then the next day, another staff was seated. He had the courtesy to not find out what the procedure was for me and instead, wanted to argue and keep asking the same question over and over. He found out I was an NRI, and hence the fuss.So much for India being so diverse and having no unity. And funny enough, we complain about racism elsewhere when we cannot even be at peace amongst ourselves. This college is the prime example for this. Please, if you want your child (especially NRIs) to do well, make the logical choice and send them to better Universities abroad.

Situated right adjacent to Chrompet Railway Station and Chrompet Bus Stand, it is very easily accessible unlike most colleges which are situated in unreachable rural areas.Good labs and infrastructure, good student activities, symposiums and culturals (Mitafest). As it is one of the 4 campuses of Anna University, a Government-run institution, fees is low.But still I am taking out one star as it being a Government college, has some badly recruited staffs and some of them dont come to class and teach. Corrections are bad! There are a few highly knowledgeable professors but also there are many poorly qualified teaching staffs.

With the dawn of Independence, the need for establishing a sound technological basis for proper industrial advancement of the country was realised. Towards the fulfilment of this need, a number of Engineering Institutions were established by several State Governments. It was at this juncture that Mr.C.Rajam, with his characteristic pioneering spirit, patriotic fervor and unwavering enthusiasm came up with a munificent donation of Rs. 5 lakhs through the sale of his house and founded the MIT, with the blessings of the Sage of Kanchi, the Jagadguru Sankaracharya Swamigal. In this noble effort, Mr.Rajam enjoyed the inspired assistance of a few distinguished citizens, notably Subbaraya Aiyar, M.K. Ranganathan, L.Venkatakrishna Iyer, K.Srinivasan and C.R. Srinivasan and also generous donations from the public and industries. Thus in July 1949, the MIT was established as an All India Technological Institution with the two-fold objectives of providing1. Engineering education of University standard in specialised fields and2. Facilities for research in these and allied fields, free from regional limitations both in regard to its staff and students. At a time when all other Engineering Institutions were offering conventional courses in Civil, Mechanical and Electrical Engineering at the Under-graduate level, it was the rare innovation and foresight of Mr. Rajam that impelled him in the eve of his life to launch on a bold experiment of introducing for the first time in our country, totally new areas of specialisation in Engineering, viz. Aeronautical Engineering, Automobile Engineering, Electronics Engineering and Instrumentation Technology, the entrants to these disciplines being Science graduates. This was a pioneering step in engineering education in India. How wise and foreseeing this selection was, is shown by the striking growth that India has made in road transport and in the manufacture of road vehicles of all types; in the progress of civil and military aviation and the manufacture of military aircraft; and in the enormous growth in the applications of electronics and the electronics manufacturing industry. Instrumentation and Control which form the bedrock of industry did not exist in India as a subject of study in 1949; even the name was still below the horizon. Now this branch of applied science and technology has become all important in every industry, small or big, light or heavy. How useful and relevant the trained manpower in these fields has been, is borne out by the fact that a significantly large number of the past students of MIT are now holding key positions in research and development organisations, manufacturing industries and educational institutions within the country and abroad. The broad-based curriculum at the MIT has indeed proved to be particularly advantageous with the ever-increasing need for engineers adequately equipped to handle a wide range of problems. The Institute owes its present stature to the unstinted efforts and dynamic leadership of its Founders, Chairmen and Members of the Governing Council, Directors, Staff and Alumni and also, in no small measure, to the quality and character of its students during the last 50 years.
