ஆங்கிலத்தில் எழுதுவதற்கு மன்னிக்கவும்.Yes God gave me another chance to visit this beautiful temple again. We decided to club visiting temples in mylapore along with visiting rayars mess.Temple was neat and clean like in my first visit. Had to wait, since the priest were getting ready with the evening pooja.Went around couple of times to see the smaller finer details of the temple which i had missed in my first visit and one thing i saw was the statues of crocodiles on the roof of the mandapam before you enter the sanctum sanctorum. Why crocodiles here. ? What significance ?.This is the second temple am seeing crocodiles on the roof of the mandapam. It was good to see people waiting to have the darshan of the Lord. Though there were few people, but still we had a good darshan once the screen was lifted.Saw some water in the pushkarani this time.Temple faces east, Lord faces east, Thaayar faces east in a separate sannadhi, Rajagopuram present, Kodimaram present, Temple pond present inside the temple.* Adding some photographs i took in this visit.*************************************************Such a beautiful temple tucked away discreetly in the small cramped lanes of mylapore. The first impression one gets is wow wow, such clean superb temple in this type of cramped place. Definitely it is quite bigger in size compared to the area it is.Happy to note that the temple has a history of 800 years roughly, some say even more, whatever it was very nice to visit the temple. Came to know it is like a twin temple, the other one being Keshava perumal temple located on the other side of Kapaleeswarar Temple.Have been to that temple also, but i find this temple far far better, nice, spotlessly clean. Definitely lost my heart here that too even before having darshan of the lord.Sad to know that the pushkarani is totally dry.Would say the visit to this temple, left me surprised, shocked, stunned, in my temple visits yesterday.I wish god gives me another chance to visit this temple.

This temple hosts Lord Vishnu in the form of Madhava Perumal as its main deity. Located quite close to Mundakanniamman temple, this temple has great historic and cultural value. The temple is open from 7am to 11.30am in the morning and 4.30pm to 9pm in the evenings. The roads outside can be a bit narrow and navigating may be tricky if you are not from this area.

Presiding deity Lord Madhava Perumal and his consort Amirthavalli Thayar are divine and full of grace. Pushkarni is called as Santhana Pushkarni. It is believed that Lord Vishnu came here from his abode in Vaikuntam as Madhava Perumal to marry Amruthavalli Thaayar. Hence, this place came to be called Madhavapuram.A Prarthana Sthalam for unmarried people as well. Must visit remple. Devotees can peacefully meditate here.

Well maintained Vaishnavite TempleAccording to Mayurapuri Mahadhmiyam in the Brahmandapuranam, when Sage Vyasa requested the Lord to show him the holiest of places where he could do penance, He pointed out to Madhavapuram (Mylapore) where Sage Bhrigu had earlier set up a hermitage and did penance. It was very near the holy water source known as Santhana Pushkarani where all holy rivers merged on the Masi Makam day. Those who bathed in it on that day would get all their wishes fulfilled, the Lord said. To add to the holiness of the place was the fact that Peyazhwar, the last of the three saintly men hailed as Mudhalazhwargal, was born in a 60-feet deep well known as Manikairavam, to the south-east of the temple, which exists to this day in Arundale Street, though in a neglected condition. The author of the work known as Moondram Thiruvanthathi, which forms part of the Nalayira Divyaprabandham, is hailed as Thamizh Thalaivan by Thiruvarangathamudhanar in his Ramanuja Nootrandadhi, extolling the greatness of Saint Ramanuja. While the other two Azhwars lit the lamps with the help of earth, sea and sun (Poigaiyar) with love, eagerness and thought (Bhuthathar), Peyazhwar was able to see with the help of the lights lit by the other two, Thiru (Mahalakshmi) first and the Lord next. The temple of Madhava Perumal is said to be very ancient, though its history is traced back to only 800 years from now, according to available records. The presiding deity in the sanctum sanctorum is in a sitting posture along with Sridevi and Bhoodevi. The Lord is hailed as Kalyana Madhavan as He married Goddess Amritavalli, who was born as Sage Bhrigus daughter here.

Madhava Perumal Temple is dedicated to Hindu god Vishnu located in Mylapore, Chennai, in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Constructed in the Dravidian style of architecture, dedicated to Vishnu, who is worshipped as Madhava Perumal and his consort Lakshmi as Amirtagadavalli. The temple is believed to be the birthplace of Peyazhwar, one of the first three of the twelve azhwar saints of the 6th-9th century AD.

Hidden from the busy roads of Mylapore and sitting quietly in its narrow lanes of old Mylapore is the Madhavaperumal temple. The main deity is beautiful and the praharam is wide. The sthalapuranam dates this temple 1000+ years old with one of the Azhwars believed to have lived here. However the current look combines a modern renovated one with unique quietude

1400 years old temple, very powerful diety.Dhanurmasa/maargaLi pooja is very sacred. When the Sun is in extreme South (dakshinayana) its very cold in India. Naturally we humans tend to sleep longer, cuddling up like G. This shape resembles a bow -Dhanu hence month named Dhanurmasa. If we dont get up early we will be late to our chores, hence the religion instructs us to go to temple in the early hours, at least on that pretext we get up early.
