Flies found inside dining halls. Food taste is good. Customer service need to be improved.
As always, food was very good. Crowd management could be a lot better. Last night there was a queue of about 20 people waiting for tables and we could see 2 tables with single occupant. A bit of planning could have made more optimal use of the table seats
Located near by shopping streets.I prefer to have tiffin or meals if we go for shopping with family.Idly is soft as they continue to keep this as same.Dosai , Pongal, panniyaram items are good in taste.Their onion (small) uthappam is very good and with podi it gives much more taste.Jigathanda is must try desert. The price is much higher than other similar hotels and they should reduce the price some what affordable but the quality is good.
Give a try to ghee podi idli and jigarthanda.Clean and hygienic place
It was fine. Taste of food is also fine. If u want parcels, there is a different line so its easy to manage. Overall a nice place.
One of the worst Murugan Idli Shop. Never go there pls list my words from wife and in law family. Spoiled my day
Their jigarthanda is not like before. The quality and taste is lost.
A good hotel to have an authentic South Indian breakfast, the Idlys are soo soft and it tastes great with the four varieties of chutneys .The Sambar is just average imo, Podi Idly is a must try here once we take a bite of it we can feel the heat of spicy Idly powder with a generous layer of ghee which makes the Idly melt in our mouth.
Visited Murugan idli shop after a long time. As usual taste was very good and they are maintaining it very well. Had my favourite dishes sweet Pongal and jigarthanda… both were awesome.
Probably the bad one i have visited. The service is to bad that made me think never to visit again
Expensive. Taste is moderate and servers are approachable. Not worth for cost.
Worst place of servingIdly rates are highBut taste not goodSupplier behaviour for bad
Place was neat and clean. The tiffin items such as iddlies and dosa along with coffee was very good
Had 1 fried rice & jigarthanda here. Take was really good. They may not have a great ambience but whenever someone feels hungry this restaurant can be relied upon & will be a minimum guarantee place to fill in our taste buds for authentic South Indian cuisines.
Mouth watering idlis, dosais with sambar and 4 delicious chutneys. A must go place if youre in Chennai
Must Try hot idly with Podi Oil... 10rsExtra for Podi but worth it.. I suggest this branch for original Taste..
Ok to have breakfast. Normal tasty oothappam and idly pongal.
The best podi idly I have ever heard.. pongal wasnt so nice ..ghee roast and other things are awesome...
Murgan idli shop, the name itself mention idly is famous here. Super soft idly especially podi idly with ghee is ultimate. Multiple branches in chennai all are same quality and taste. Other than idly, dosa vaerity is awesome and good taste.Atlast jigarthanda is extraordinary, one full cup of jigarthanda can full our tummy. Everyone must try this if you visit murgan idly shop.
There are lots of idli shops.. Then there is murugan idli.. Admittedly it has gone down over the years but stay long enuf and the smiles of servers come out and the beautiful food begins to flow.. Things come to you as a random impulse decisions.. Ones that you are glad that you made. This has been a two decade association..One dish I definitely recommend is onion butter uthappam. Insane it is.
FAMOUS FOR IDLI, DOSA with shall podi (powder), Unique JIGARDHANDA
The name you can trust. Compare other food outlets the price of lunch is somewhat less. I had lunch for 120 rupees. They provide koottu, poriyal, saambaar, kara kulambu, paruppu nei, appalam, sweet and butter milk. Taste is good. But idlies are costly, reason is different varieties of chutnies
Very bad food and expensive. Not worth the money we spend. Used to be better
Excellent food ,as good as I remember eating always at Murugan, pleasant staff who feed you like you are their house guest, with love and care.
Very worst. Even idly was not available. Less cleanliness.
Their pongal was excellent.. Idli & Vadai were good but its their different types of chutney which simulates your taste buds!!
Amazing food. Best place to eat in Chennai. Their best dish is Ghee podi idli, tomato thakkali and jigarthanda. ❤️
Poor service, they say the vada is hot and served us cold and dried up vada, since it placed on our leaf they wouldnt replace. Dont trust them, all they want is to put the food on your plate and make you pay whether you like or not
The quality of food has come down drastically. Will think twice before going there again.
There is a reson that when you ask locals where to get tasty idlis in channai, 9/10 say Murugan Idli!Tasted the Ghee Podi idli, Ghee Sada Dosa and the Ghee Idli! Please see the accompanying pictures to imagine how good these were! All meals are served on traditional banana leaves with 4 different Chutneys and hot fresh Sambar. They also sell their dry Podi in sealed bottles! Highly recommended those too!Definitely coming back soon to try everything else on the menu.
I would suggest if u go to murugan shop do not forget to get the jigerthanda.
Parking is not available. You hve to park in the next near by street. As usual good food and great service
1. Ambience very poor👎2. Not cost worthy👎3. We ordered podi idly was ok but not the best!4. They are known for their chutneys and they did serve the chutneys, I personally never tasted in other restaurants so I couldnt compare the taste however this will be a benchmark5. Covid precautions taken seriously 👍
Went for jigarthanda, taste not like before. but harmless.
This was the first time I went to Murugan idly shop. The idly was delicious and more authentic. They provided four chuttnes for idly which no one will provide. It was healthy and tasty. I ordered 3 more idlys because of its taste and quality. My friend ordered Pongal which was different level with perfectly cooked with awesome taste. Finally we drank jigerdanda which is special in Murugan idly. And parceled to my home. I recommend for everyone who looks for authentic and tasty food. Price was also very average. Service was good and quick.
Chutney varieties are awesome and tasty. Soft idlis. And sambar tastes really good. Loved the tiffin variety.
One of the best idli I had in my life ..thats is murgan idli .. so soft so tasty
Jigardhanda good.Overly Priced for the restaurant condition.Hospitality sometimes fine sometimes meh
Its a complete vegetarian quality restaurant with high cost. Clean and hygienic space. Jigarthanda dessert is so famous and its a must try.Idli Powder packets are available for Sale. Its bang on the main road which restricted the four wheeler parking for 2. And 10 two wheeler parking is available.
I went for a dinner today 14th aug, one of worst food and service which I experienced in this branch, my advice not to go this branch to everyone
Billed 2 vada in parcel but packed only one. When called West Mambalam outlet of Murgan Idli not responding.Be careful they are cheating
Jigarthanda was tasty and healthy compared to their peers in that area
Quality Jigarthanda is famous in this shop iam a frequent visitor for Jigarthanda
Location: this place is located between joyalukkas and GRT gold house. Here we need to help ourselves to fill the water in glass. Chutney varieties do exist, but I dont their taste to be great. As the name says, idly is their signature dish, anytime u go here, hot idly awaits you. Apart from this all other tiffen items are available here.Ambience is ok, service is good and dining space is small.Taste wise food is good. Costing is on the higher side. They even serve meals in 2nd floor.Washroom facility needs way more attention and improvement for its customers.PS: here they charge extra bucks for idly podi and its oil. (10bucks)
When it comes to food the taste is delicious and there is variety of food available but the place is very crowded during peak hours and at around 3 PM most of the menu items will be finished. So I was disappointed when even meals was not available when I visited (they asked me to wait as the rice was in final stage of cooking). Its a decent hotel with courteous staff and very clean.
We had meals . It is very tasty. Quality is good
Nice shop very hygiene so peaceful in place smell so good
Courteous ,and superb service.Outstanding.Congrajulations.
The best idlis in Chennai. Soft, crumbly and delicious. Their chutneys are heavenly! Absolutely love this restaurant. They are phenomenal. If you see Murugan Idli, blindly step in and enjoy the freshness.
Quality food available at higher rate. Very nearer to Bus stop. The only Vegetarian hotel available in this location within 200 meters surrounding.
Great place. Fast service. Neat and clean. Bit busy at breakfast. People are experienced.Food taste is the best.Manager was well mannered and took a minute to chat with every customer even when the orders were flying crazy.Sum it up flawless service.Place cud have been bigger
Superb place to visit. Must go.
Taste of food is good, especially podi idly. But cost of food is too high.
The best idlli shop in Chennai for idli, podi idli, podidosai, podi uthappam, jigarthanda.they got many outlets in Chennai all the shops are run by a single owner . The one only problem about this shop is their pricing for a single idli they charge 17₹ and podi idli 30₹ and podi uthappam almost 100₹ 😂 if you are ready to spend then no problem. The food is great no ambiance .
Not upto the earlier taste. Costly.
Absolutely delicious idli, vada and dosas are served here. Everything is served on a banana leaf with steaming hot sambhar and five different varieties of chutney. An absolute delight for a foodie specially for someone who is fond of South Indian food. The service is excellent as well. Strongly recommend this place for anyone visiting Chennai!
If you want to loose your money for idly and uthappm go there. Onion uthappam is 6 inches and 131 rupees .
Rate increased but quality decrease after they popular
Food is good and tasty except for the coconut chutney. It tasted funky. The service is good and keep refilling the banana leaf with chutney even if you dont want. As a foreign like me check before what you would like to order and the quantity if not they will put a lot on the table and of course you will have to pay for it. Also check your printed bill before you pay just in case. Other that that good place to eat local food. I highly recommend the onion uttappam and medhu vadai (in the picture) . Have a nice meal!
Loved it. The taste and service..
Awesome place for taste of your buds and soul...Chennai is blessed with Murugan Idli Shop at T Nagar. I had a chance to relish some of my very near and dear south indian delicacies with loads of variety of chatnies.Must try 1. Pongal. 2. Ghee dosa 3. Vada... Here am sharing some of the moments of this place....
Decent restaurant! The Jigarthanda is the highlight of the restaurant.
One of best Idli and sweet Pongal I have had in recent times. We arrived here on a Sunday morning and it was crowded, however we got a table in a few mins. Nobody reaches out to you to get you a table , a old fashioned hotel on many counts. The chutney and powder were awesome!! But the sweet Pongal made with ghee and jaggery takes the cake. Customer service is quick. No dedicated parking so you need to find parking in the by lanesI have added a pic of the menu for price reference.Overall , if you are an ardent fan of Idlis and Tamil breakfast this a must visit!!
The food standard by far is the same across the chain. By choice I would like some other chutney varieties that is the reason for drop in one star.
Food is okay , but the cleanliness is a horror show. Especially in covid times
The tiffen items were very good and tasty and i will give 3* for cleanliness . There are Maintaining COVID measures too. Altogether it was good experience.
The place is clean and hygienic. Use and throw cups for beverages and banana leaves are used for serving food. Staff wears mask. Expensive but worth the service. Idlis are soft and satiable. Do try their Jigarthanda beverage.
Hotel in side not neatly & servent served very Delayed.
Ghee podi idli - simply yum....Normal idlis just melt in the mouth.......Variety of chutney offered is just amazing - 3 brown colored chutneys of different ingredients, besides the tomato and coconut chutney.Apart from this anything ordered is also tasty, however sambar is not that tasty as what we get in Sangeetha veg restaurants.
If I am in Chennai I make sure I go here atleast once. This place gives an authentic experience of the South Indian cuisine specially in idli, wada and dosa. They will serve 3-4 different types of chutneys and sambhar. Its always crowded and if you go on a weekend be ready to wait and at times depending on how many of you are there, you probably might end up sharing the table as well. Its not very cheap, dont have any expectation of a fine dine. There is a possibility that the staff might not understand English but will be able to communicate with you. The one serving us always had a smile on him. You dont get plate but a banana leaf as is the traditional way. Do try their podi idli and podi onion uttappa.
Ambience is not good food is nice
Dish preparation not informed properly
Been here couple of times. Easily accessible and locatable vegetarian food pointFamous for their costly idli n podi combos (really wonder, why they charge more, compared to other eateries)The food they serve is tasty and enjoyableMeals too are exceptional
Quality of Idli with 5 variety of chutney is good. Higiene ok. Not much crowd. Sweet Pongal is also good. Earlier variety is missing.
