The Watchman is inhuman and senseless. I do not know if he is instructed to be so. Earlier even if the main temple is closed, on festive days we can just have a glimpse of the Goddess in the portico&come back. Even if you have travelled from tambaram or other side of the continent, the watchman will close the gate when requested to come near the steps of the portico maintaining more distance than required to have a darshan. One thin priest had always been rude&this behaviour in a temple! Their timings keep changing with no update on website. They have forgotten its not a Bengali association. But the Goddess will make them pay with interest :)

Madras Kali Bari is a Hindu temple located in the neighbourhood of West Mambalam inChennai, India. Dedicated to the goddess Kali, the temple is constructed on the lines of theDakhshineshwar Kali temple near Kolkata by the Bengali community in the city. Within the precincts of the temple, is a meditation hall where bhajans are sung daily. Bengali festivals like Durga Puja and Kali Puja are celebrated with grandeur.

It is one of the best and pious places to visit in Chennai. The deity here is the holy mother of all Bengalis and also this temple is well maintained by Bengalis. A Durga Puja is also held here by the Bengali peoples association and bhog is also served to people visiting this temple during Durga Puja free of cost. This temple is a manifestation of the culture, heritage & holiness of the Bengali community too.

One of the Kolkatas most sacred sites, Kalighat Kali Temple is known as one of the 51 Shakti Peethas on Earth. About 200 years old, this historic temple is dedicated to Hindu Goddess Kali. As legend has it, this is the place where Satis toes of the right foot fell. Countless devotees, regardless of sectarian differences, visit this holy temple to offer prayers to the goddess. Enhancing the beauty and sanctity of the temple is the Hooghly Rivers tributary - Adi Ganga that flows right next to it.Originally a small hut, this temple was later built by King Manasingha in the beginning of 16th century. The present structure of the temple was completed under the Sabarna Roy Chowdhury familys patronage in 1809. Spectacular and unique, the sandstone idol of Kali was crafted by two saints - Atmaram Giri and Brahmananda Giri. It features three big eyes, four hands and long protruding tongue. The tongue and the hands - two of which hold a scimitar and a severed head of Shumbha (Asura king) are made of gold.
