Lush green ICFRE campus in the heart of Bengaluru with a scenic lake. The institute caters educational research need in the field of wood science technology. The guest houses and hostel are well maintained with good mess facility. The key attractions and places to visit are Xylarium(wood billets museum), the wood museum cum interpretation centre.

It is unique & only Institute in India is working on R & D in wood science & technology field. It has done a lot of work on sandalwood. It imparts training on sandalwood cultivation, bamboo propagation & management, wood identification, wood preservation techniques, and offering diploma course on Advance wood working. Many more services its offered to public. I am proud to say that I am one of members of it and am currently working on improvement of commercial bamboos, sandal, red sandal & Mahogany trees & agroforestry.....

I went there to enquire about Bamboo plants and planting methodology. And I met one Mr. Settappanavar. My review and ratings are based on the experience of interacting with him as well as other personnel in this organisation.IF MY OBSERVATION IS WRONG, MY APOLOGIES..This IWST is just a time pass office for those people whom I met there. They are neither interested in helping the farmers nor they have any serious knowledge about Bamboo. They are just wasting the nations precious resources.I wanted to know more about the Bamboo varieties and its marketability from a farmers point of view. But they were of no use. This gentleman could not even help me in buying the plants. In fact he did not even know, whether the institution is closed or not on Maha Shivaratri day.His attitude towards the farmers is just horrible. Fortunately I consulted other people working in Central govt and saved my time by NOT GOING the on a holiday.Better, the central govt sack such people and save the organisation...

I am in no position to review.I am told that there is a wood institute of international recognition exists in Malleshwaram, Bangalore but no resident has access to the research being done or getting any benefit for the trees in and around Malleshwaram, Bangalore. We often see number of trees being cut, some trees falling due to lack of treatment. Can we request you to take the initiative and take some preventive and proactive action. There is a tree adjacent to M/s Kalyan jewellers which has dried. A photo is attached. Can this be inspected and opinion given for recovering the tree from its present state.
