With a very Bengali-food-craving-hungry stomach I went to this place for an early dinner at 8pm on a Sunday of last week of September 2021 . The main items we ordered were Aam-Channar cutlet, Luchi, Bati Chorchori, steamed rice, Chingri Potol er dorma and Pabda Tel Bori . Except the Aam-Channar cutlet which tasted mediocre, all the other items were horrible in taste. It seemed that all the dishes were halfheartedly made and they tried to forcefully push-in a lot of spices and other ingrediants to make the dish tasty . I was very dissapointed after eating the Potol Dorma and Pabda Tel Bori . Come-on , these are some of the trademarked Bengali dishes and you failed to make them . The price they charge for the food is very high. You will feel cheated after paying the inflated price for the bad-tasting food. Except Rosogolla payees no other dessert was available and thank god we didn’t order that .My excitement for a Sunday bhuribhoj was shattered, and I was utterly disappointed with the food.

Had been 3 times. First  2 times at their old location and last time visited their new location. Both times their interiors are an awesome and full touch of Bengal. So, whenever we feel like want to have some Bengali food in Bangalore, we used to went Esplanade. I like their each and every dishes. From Starters to Desserts all. May be for my Bong Connections. But I would like to recommend my Non-Bong friends to go Esplanade and explore Bengali food :)

Food is amazing. Its little expensive, but again, there are very few food joints where Bengali cuisine is within a normal budget range. The ambience is awesome. For a Bengali College student far away from home, the taste of the food and the soft instrumental Bengali music playing in the speakers, takes you right home.

This place will serve you authentic bengali cuisine and the taste is delicious. However I found the price little on higher side.. Aerated water for 95 INR is way too high believe. Tried mutton kosha with luchi and rice which was amazing in taste. Fish kobiraji is the must try I must say... For two people it will cost you around 1600 easily.Keep eating and keep smiling 😊

The ambience, food quality, quantity, service all are very well. Nice old bengali theme stirs up ones nostalgia of North calcutta aristocracy. Just one thing, the portion of the rice is too less rather than the other dishes. This needs to be changed. We ordered dab-chingri, why we were not served it inside the tender coconut? It was a big minus point.

Rating is because of long waiting(more than 1hr 30 min) .if you have patience to wait more than 1 hr 30 min for food you can definitely try.here is my story..I called to resturant around 1:15pm to book a table where they said we can directly come.we reached there at 2:00 p.m.after 10 min of waiting receptionist came ,we asked for table and also asked how long do we need to wait.he said he will check and let us know.around 2:30 we went inside restaurant and asked if it is taking long we can come some other time.he then replied it would be max 10-15 min waiting.we again waited .around 2:50 he came and said just 2 min and after 5 min he called us and showed table.within 5 min we ordered food and guess what 3:10 one waiter came and kept small plates.now we thought wait is over..but no...around 3:20 again another waiter came and kept big plates on our table.this time I was actually had no patience left so asked is food ready?again 10 more minutes no one turned up so around 3:30 pm we decided to leave without food.guys if cant manage please say when people ask.there is no point to keep customer waiting for 1 hr 30 min.

A friend brought me here for dinner and i was floored. being a mallu, basic bengali cuisine does appeal to me. but i was in a for a pleasant shock as this restaurant really knows how to rock those flavours! truly authentic bengali food cooked and served with class. tried the kasha mangsho ( mutton curry) too , but forgot to click a pic. was already high from the food! the eggplant was so juicy and succulent that it just melted away while the outer skin remained crispy! the gravy accompanying the stuffed gourd was just as delicious as the stuffed gourd! no words to explain the tender meat of the mutton curry. totally an amazing experience which i would surely repeat and whole heartedly recommend to someone interested in bengali food!

One of the better restaurants in the city for your fix from the shores of East India. The food is delectable and the ambience is pretty good too. They have uplifted the place a lot since I went in the last time. The one complaint though is that they do not serve a thali which means that one has to order a lot of portions, taking the price of the entire meal through the roof! I will still recommend this place for the flavors that it comes up with

When this restaurant got recommended to us as the best Bengali fine dining option available in Bangalore, we were a little sceptical until we actually got there. From the word go, the mocktails of typical kolkata flavors, starters like mochar & aamer cutlet, the main course unfolded with more authentic options such as aloor dam, luchi, tomato chutney and several more delicacies. The crowning glory was their dessert that included mishti doi, nalen guder ice cream, rossogolla in paayesh. Hope by now you guessed it right, we are vegetarians but grew up in Kolkata and Esplanade did total justice. The portions were filling, served promptly and hot and well left promising to return soon.

Food has always been an important component in every Bangalis life. Rabidranath and Satyajit Ray over a delicious bangali meal is what it takes to reconnect the broken links from far off distance.Esplanade is just the perfect place for all probashi bangali down south to rekindle the childhood memories of growing up... growing up with begun bhajaa on a rainy afternoon, aloo posto and tok dal on the scorching summer days. With its new location and a whole new look and feel of the place the restaurant has taken yet another notch up. The place has a wonderful casual outdoor seating for long Adda over kabiraji and chop... while a very colonial and bright formal seating for the serious food connoisseurs. Music low and soothing rabidra sangeet and posters of legandary Satyajit Rays masterpieces adorn the walls. We attended the Hilsa Festival last weekend and there was no regret in eating food worth of three days. There was no stone unturned when it comes to picking the right ingredients. Each fish is handpicked from Gariahat bajar and flew down here coz for a bangali a good fish is either a deal maker or a deal breaker. The preparation of each dish was unique and a mouthful of flavor. A Hilsa is best eaten with white rice. The sweet soft fish melts in your mouth while the gravy with the rice leaves behind a trail of lingering goodness. My most favorite dishes were the tel jhal, bhappa illish, boneless illish patura - shorshe aam achar and tetul illish jhol.No meal is complete without Misti doing and baked Sandesh.

I am a foodie and i went to this place craving for Bengali food. First disappointment is the waiting time. The person at the door is not able to manage the crowd. There are ppl coming in with booking who are given preference and people waiting outside have to wait for more than an hour. Secondly being from kolkata i went to this place with really high hopes. Not much of a charm with the food. It is a very normal or rather very average taste. They did not have aloo bhaja and apparently blamed the crowd for low stock. I mean keep aloo bhaja in stock. Its everyones favorite. The aloo dum was way too spicy as per Bengali cuisine. Then comes our epic cholar dal which was not at all upto the mark. It wasnt sweet as it shud be was very bland. The daab chingri and mochar chaap were really good. The rice pulao was also decent. Overall not worth the hype.

What a wonderful place to eat dinner. This is the first time I was here. The occasion was Diwali dinner. The restaurant is on the first floor. The stairs were decorated with traditional lamps. When I entered the restaurant, it was empty except for one occupied table. So, I had a rare opportunity to shoot an empty restaurant without the customers in it.It is divided into two sections, one is indoors and a smaller outdoors section. The outdoor section has the main street view. The lighting in the restaurant is very nice, bright and not blinding at the same time.It is a medium sized, fine dining restaurant. We had aam channar cutlet, rice, dal, vegetables, kachoris, pompfret kalia (Fried fish) and a type of Bengali jamun. Each dish was good and as per my friend who is a foodie the dal was awesome. I loved the dal, too! But, I was stuffing myself with the fish fry and rice. The service is good. They take cash and card payment.Disabled friendly? : No. There is no lift and it is on the first floor. Only way to reach the restaurant is to walk up the stairs.Landmark : Diagonally opposite HDFC bank, near Indira Nagar Metro station, CMH road.Tip : since this was a Bengali restaurant and we both are not Bengalis, we requested the waiter to help us choose the dishes. We told him what we prefer and he suggested some dishes and we picked one of them.
