AMAZING!!! Food was fantastic and yummy, especially the Chicken Schnitzel! The service was great, really nice and friendly! I would recommend everyone to go here! There are a lot of options and different cuisines, such as: kebabs, schnitzel, bread, ect. it was well prepared and served, the desert was amazing! We ordered Rasmalai, and hot chocolate too. If you are stuck where to go, go here! Will come again soon.
It was my first time here and this place is an absolute delight ! Went in there for lunch and was in for a treat. Ordered the mix kebab platter for four with biriyani. Though the order took some time to come but was worth the wait. The kebabs was cooked to perfection and is one the best I had so far. To accompany there was chicken biriyani, french fries, dips and salads which was so good as well. Finally for dessert had a sticky date pudding and it was presented so well and was again too good. The service was great and also to mention Zac the owner was so welcoming and took good care of us. Will be back for more soon ! 😊
Tasty food. Helpful staff. Good ambience. OK prices.
Awesome experience!! Their food was so delicious! Every dish had its own unique flavour and aroma. Even the sauces and dips accompanying the main dish are prepared carefully. The food here is prepared by heart and so its so delicious. Especially their prawn biryani, I have never tasted such a biryani ever , the flavour had spread evenly in the rice and the prawns, not oily or spicy you could feel its flavour in every bite. This is just one of the many dishes we ordered. The kebabs, saffron rice, paneer dishes, the veg biryani and last but not the list the sweet dish, rasmalai and Gulab jamun, which are out of this world. The presentation of every dish was beautifully done. The ambience is relaxed and gives you a feeling of not eating in a restaurant but at home such is their hospitality. The people serving you are very polite and always have a smile on their faces which are genuine and not made up. Zacs is our new favourite now and will definitely be visiting again. I would highly recommend this place to my other friends too.
Food was great! Loved the Goat Biryani and Qorma. The meat was so tender and just fell off the bone. The goat Qorma is just amazing. The menu is extensive. Customer service is good and the ambience is really nice. Say hi to Zac while you are there. He loves to have a chat. I don’t think any review can do proper justice for the amazing food they serve. You have to visit and experience it yourselves. A must visit with family. We will be back!
I would like to preface this review by saying I have been eating here for over a year and am a regular customer. Today however, I was severely disappointed with their customer service. Upon arrival we ordered our regular meal - Lamb Biryani. The price on the menu placed in front of us and the online menu, as well as the price we have paid for the past year was $33. However, after finishing the meal, the price we were charged was $38. Despite complaining on multiple occasions about the misrepresentation of the price - as we were given no notice prior to ordering about the price change, the staff were insistent on not refunding us. This was despite the menu on the table stating $33.Extremely disappointed with this service and their lack of accomodation. Will be reiterating the disappointment to friends and family. Lost a loyal customer today.
Really enjoyed the food here. Plenty of social distancing, great service and no hassles at all even though we were running a little late.Thank you to the team here for a lovely night/ dinner
Great food. Nice ambience. Its good to know the quantity of the food before you order. Especially the Biriyani. Its good for 3 people. I saw many people ordering biriyani and ending up eating a small portion of it and packing the rest. Overall great experience. Good for both family or team get together .
Average & oily food plus overpriced …We ordered takeaway of lamb kebab, chicken biryani & goat Nihari yesterday and were not impressed. Kebab came with chips which had become soggy, quantity of lamb kebab was also too less for the $29 …biryani was too oily and not consistent as we had previously had their chicken biryani and the goat Nihari was average ..
The food is great, great variety of drinks. The host was great. Will be back soon.
The food at this place was amazing, we had the banquet which had a great variety of dishes and was great value for money. Portions were extremely generous. This place has some of the best Afgan food I have tried. We will definitely be returning to have this all again. The only down side, that prevented me from giving 5 stars was the timing of service, it took approximately 40 minutes to get the first dish. Speaking to the restaurant at the end of the evening they advised that they were 3 staff down that evening. It wouldve been nice to be informed earlier in the evening and maybe some snacks whist waiting.
Went there last night to dine for the first time and also my first time eating Afghan cuisine. Loved the welcome we got, staff was friendly, atmosphere was very nice and inviting and the food was beautiful. I was surprised we didn’t have to wait long for our food even though it was such a busy night. Definitely will be going there again and yes I highly recommend it.
Incompetent staff. Save your time and money and go elsewhere.A disappointing experience. After waiting for almost an hour, our food was served to the table next to us and they ate it (even though it was clearly not what they ordered). Sometime later, the waitress was called over when they admitted that the food they were served wasnt their order. She soon realised her mistake and took the entree plate and brought it to us. I refused to accept it given the current pandemic to which I got a sour response of Ill ask the kitchen to swap it. It wasnt long after that we got served the exact same plate she took away (hard not to be suspicious after we waited a long time to then miraculously receive a fresh new order just minutes later?!) She clumsily admitted that our order was given to the next table which we already knew. Terrible experience which ruined our first and last time at this place. Definitely not great food or service. Avoid.
A good place to order if occasionally we want to spoil ourselves.
Good food served in a nice ambience with the best service.Being our first taste of afghani cuisine we ordered the banquet, a nice selection of their favorites. The entrees filled up some of our guests - a note for all readers to keep space for the scrumptious mains that includes the Afghan national dish (a rice pilaf), and a pannacotta dessert.Flavors were balanced and portions were good. We wish there was more of the kebabs in the entree.
Their lamb biryani is one of the best biryanis ever
The owner has completely lost it. The decent value lamb kebab meal that was $19 has been increased by 50% to $29 with no change in the meal itself. I have never seen this kind of price hike. I made a mistake of ordering the usual without looking at the menu and got a shock of price has gone up. For usual diners like me please check the menu and prices before you get shock when asking for bill. You wont be seeing my money anymore. Good bye.
I have visited Zac’s for both breakfast and dinner. Great place for both types of meals. Very unusual menu choices available for breakfast as well as the many common types of meals. Dinner was fantastic too. The owner, Zac, is often there in the afternoons and he will often drop by your table to have a chat and check whether you are happy with what you have ordered. Great place to celebrate birthdays and other special occasions. Reasonable parking available and reasonably priced food as well. Definitely worth a visit.
Very pleasant restaurant. Food was great. Def go again
Went lastnight and brought our puppy along for dinner. Mixed plate was superb and we barely had to wait for our mains. Zack was very friendly and easy to chat with.Definitely coming back, would recommend.
Loved the food. Must try Afghan ice cream...The waitress was amazingly accommodating. She explained and provided plenty of options to the confused souls (us). Will definitely keep going back
Delicious, fresh and well presented. The meals size are great. The place is nice and clean.
Great food , excellent customer service and amazing prices. Thank you we will definitely be back and recommend to friends and families.
Wow! Love this restaurant. The food is fabulous. The owner Zac, is friendly and the prices are very reasonable. Always busy, I’d recommend booking. We’ve eaten the delicious Middle Eastern food as well as standards like their excellent salmon dish. Everything we have tried has been mouth watering.
Very cozy place, food is just amazing and portions are very good. Staff are super friendly and helpful. Menu has various options to choose from. Certainly will come back again and again.
$27 for Afghan butter chicken from uber eats, there is only 5 cubes of chicken in here with flavoured water.... Wow you have got to be kidding me.I spent $94 in total, the chicken biryani is ok the breads were severely over priced to be standard. But this was the most shocking. This is absolutely appalling for watered butter chicken and 5 thumb sized pieces....
Awesome venue that offers almost anything your heart desires. Open 7 days a week, they offer breakfast, lunch and dinner. From your everyday Aussie style dishes, vegan, vegetarian to Afghan cuisine. The venue has casual vibe with spacious indoor and outdoor seating. We tried variety of their dishes, from breakfast, lunch, Afghan dish and sweet treat. All are delicious and I especially love their Qabli Pilaf (Afghanistan’s national dish). It’s really good, unique and I highly recommend you to try it.The mixed grill plate is awesome too.As for coffee they serve Blackdrum. Great coffee!
GREAT FOOD. So much to choose from and everything we had was amazing. The servings were also quite large and at a.good price. Great for family
Food is good.. so 4 star for thatbut service is bad so 2 stars for service & experience. We have a bad experience .We prebooked our orderWe ordered mixed grill without chips & only salad .But the waitress brought with chips.so we told we dont want & returned without the waitress keeping the plate in our table. But We have been charged extra one plate & when we confronted , we received the return .But next day the owner called & shouted at my friend telling we are cheating.Dont come to our restaurant etc etc .Our friend was very upset .We paid 300 dollars around & we dont have to cheat 25 dollars. We wanna support small business but this kinda rudeness is not acceptable.Additionally to noteWhatever price they display in website menu is different than the actual price .
I must say that Zacs Great food is not as great as the name/reviews says it. Platters served to us were not warm enough (cold meat) to get the taste and we were not happy the way restaurant manager/owner responded to us on our query. The service was slow as well and they did not have ingredients for the cocktails but they have listed all the options still
I have been taking away biryani every fortnight. Sometimes it’s excellent and sometimes not good. There is no consistency. Sometimes there are plums in it and most of the times they are not. Sometimes I am given green chilli and onions and sometimes not. If the price is consistently going up, then why not the quality. $39 for biryani is not cheap. Disappointed that they don’t even care.
Great food with reasonable price. Good service and not much waiting time. Great decoration. Mens toilet seat is broken long time ago because they fixed the seat with a rubber!!
Great food good quantity..felt a bit pricy though .
The food and service is great. Any of their specialty dishes are amazing!! A must try in the Bella vista area
Very nice inside comfortable ènviroment, with good friendly staff food was nice flavours and generous amounts. Pricing respectable. I would go again
Good ambience but food could have been better. Dishes like biryani, minced lamb were really good. But momos, lamb skewers could have been better. With high price comes high expectations. Unfortunately, I was only 50 percent satisfied for the price I paid. Hence the 3 star rating
Nice restaurant and great serviceWe booked for a group of eight and got a table right near the entry which was a bit cold to sit near the wind in the winter and they could have arranged better place for us considering it was not a busy night. Nice presentation on the plates and we loved the biryani which is a chilli rice with chicken served in a metal hot dish for two. Our friends did not like their qaboli polo as much as other afghani restaurants. The restaurant is new with simple but cozy decoration. Plenty of off street parking around.
Lovely staff with smile and great food with cosy ambience!
Subtle and tasty afghany food.good customer service. First time when i visited i tried goat nihari korma which was quite average with overpowering chilli taste.but then i have tried there again and this time lamb biriyani which was subtle and meat was tender and juicy.I would definitely visit again to try other dishes.
There are plenty of parking spaces - especially on the weekend. It was close to capacity when we went there. There is a separate vegetarian / vegan menu available for those that want it. The food was amazing & servings were large. Would have given 5 stars, but we has to change some off the selections wed preferred, due to them running out of some items. Will definitely be back
Great night out. Owner friendly, made us feel so welcome.
Please save your time and money. Im a long time customer that always takes a group to this place. Before we attended on Sat 22/05/21 we were told there would be 2 sittings and the 1st one started at 6.00 pm. We were told we then had to be out by 8.00 pm. We took the booking and turned up, ordered our meals which arrive at 7.11 pm. Were then rudely handed the bill at 7.53 pm and I mentioned we were still eating and had not ordered dessert? Waitress said that was unfortunate but they needed the seating by 8.00 pm. We left what we had not eaten and as we were leaving one of the wives in our party spoke to the owner and were answered with total arrogance that we knew we had to be out by 8.00 pm and that was it. Totally ignored the fact that someone was talking to him. We all left and went to another venue in walking distance, all 6 of us and completed our night there with no pushing to get us out the door! Lived in the Bella Vista area for 11 years and this is a first. Will NEVER set foot back in this place again, given we are professional people living in the area and word of mouth here counts for a lot. No more business from us. Very, very disappointed.
Great tasting food, service a bit slow during peak times. Quite an expensive menu for traditional Afghan cuisine.
Loved the big portion of Biryani and chilli bread. Nice ambience. BTW google maps will not take you there but a building before the restaurant. Perhaps continuous development in the area confused the google map. I am sure they will fix it but if you are lost easier to just call the restaurant and they will guide. :)
Beautiful Afghani Food and burgers here are also delicious!
Amazing platter and Biryani with the home made chakni wow love it , thanks guys
Good service Amazing food really delicious food very friendly staff
Great Dine in Experience. Love the food.
Food was good but not freshServing size were not adequet to the price in my opinion
Food is excellent with nice and big portions. Service is friendly and professional. I will definitely come again. Highly recommended.
Its great spot for cuppa or quick snack.Recommended to try
Great food, service was really attentive & friendly. The background music was at an appropriate level, allowing you to have an easy conversation with your dinner companions.
Great location, Fantastic food. Our new favourite restaurant.
I booked a order for iftar package offered during Ramadan. All The food is great and well presented unfortunately what was shown in the online recipe which will be given during the iftar was not similar. I hope they correct the online information about iftar package and appreciate this awesome iftar package they providing.
Very warm nice place, food are yummy, must visit, friendly staff🥰👍👍❣️
Nice brioche egg burger, reasonably priced. Attentive staff. Pleasant environment with outdoor and indoor seating.
We went for dinner despite we know the owner but the service and food was terrible, cold no taste,Please dont waste your money there, If you really after afghan cusine then there is plenty great restaurant in Merrylands,
The decor of the place is like an old office. Above our table was a light fixture that looked like it had collected lot of dust, wrong choice.Staff were nice, and worked fast. The three stars in giving is to be polite towards them. They are the under appreciated asset of the business. Now the food, what a let down. For someone who knows Indian cuisine it was a total flop. The butter chicken was watered down, and by that i man cook butter chicken and then pour water on it. No flavour or aroma. Then the biryani, a disaster. It was more boiled rice than a flavoursome dish. It said serving size of two, did not mention serving size for two camels. Charges plenty because of the serving size, but what a waste.Im happy to pay for a proper restaurant quality cooking. This I can not recommend to anyone, and Im sorry to say so.
The food is great and the setting is amazing. Very romantic lighting arrangement. You will never be disappointed.
The restaurants name really lives up to the food and service! My girlfriend and I ate here for our 4 year anniversary. We were greeted warmly and the staff were extremely helpful and well informed regarding their menu and which ingredients are used in each meal.I would strongly recommend this place to anyone that loves great food.
Great food, great customer service... Highly recommended!
Great food. great service. Lovely service. Many veg and vegan options.
Good food, but slow service. Disappointed to see very little options for children. Nice location, very quaint.
We waited for a while to get the food as maybe they were short staffed. However that was the only complaint, the food was quite tasty I had the vegan biryani which was packed with a lot of flavour and spice (they even have green chilli paste on the side). Honestly the best veg biryani I have had in Sydney (I have had numerous biryanis across indian restaurant but they were never that good or fresh). It tasted fresh, and loved the way they cooked and served on an iron pan/skillet.There numerous ways restaurants make and and serve biryanis and I can say this was the best version of a biryani I have had in Sydney.Even though the food was a bit late the service from the wait staff and the owner was very good and attentive. We bought our three month old child and the owner gave a few almonds to my wife which I thought was a nice touch.
Great place with some amazing vegetarian menu! The Vegetarian Biryani was tasty!
Simply love the food. Liked their vegetarian options as well. Liked the jaan paan drink too. The only issue is the parking - not enough parking spots.
