Exactly what a French restaurant should be like. Wooden floors, delicatessen shopfront feel, warm atmosphere, relevant memorabilia hanging from the walls and ceilings. Straightforward food with great ingredients, simply presented with no frills and a touch of regionality (new word!). All very tasty and very relaxing experience. Strongly recommend.

We booked for a special lunch as part of my wife and I anniversary weekend. We started with a Pastis for me and champagne for my wife. We had an amazing platter of cheese and meats an extra baked camembert with a well paired bottle of pinot noir. The place was relaxed and the service by Raphael was great.

It’s seems like picture says it all.. but I have to add that our waiter was fantastic, perfect explained what is on the plater and goes best with who, I really recommend to especially try this cheese and meat and jam board ! Will be back again for sure ! Thank you

Absolutely loved this place and cant wait to go back. Quirky interiors and relaxed atmosphere.The food was excellent, well presented and full of personality.I particularly liked the onglet and the bread was fabulous. Little touches like seasoning the butter are so clever.The cheese board was fantastic and catered for our requirements.You simply just eat here if you are in Bath.

Wonderful little restaurant. The food is delicious and the restaurant itself is quaint and lovely. And the staff: amazing! So friendly and thoughtful. When we had an issue with the wine they immediately replaced it with a different (much better!) bottle.

We were passing through Bath recently and came across this quirky little place and stopped for lunch. Excellent food and wine, cosy atmosphere, friendly staff. It’s worth taking a look at the paintings in the back, we only went in for some food and came out with a painting! Will definitely make another detour to Bath in the future just to dine there.

Lovely atmosphere, delicious French tapas and great champagne!

Went there yesterday. Me being French wanted my friends to have a good experience. The waitress got some our orders wrong. She also had an attitude when we told her that she had not taken our main order; then she reminded us that our table will needed for 8pm. People who came after us got served first. Chicken was uncooked in the middle. We relieved that we cut it in the middle first otherwise we would have to ill. I gave 2 star because we enjoyed the cheese and cured meat board (although they had forgotten the cheese). The tables are also extremely small. And the table next to us was extremely loud with 2 children winning. The ambiance was not good at all. It is not a restaurant. Its a tapas place which is quite £££ for the miniature portions.

Booked for my wife’s birthday who loves cheese and wine, the welcome and service was attentive and outstanding. The menu was ideal and can highly recommend the truffle camembert. Would definitely visit again.

Very expensive restaurant, but food is first class. You choose various small components of a meal. All very tasty and tender, and nice sauces.

Both the food and champagne were delicious. We were served by Raphael and Victoria who were both very friendly and polite. Would definitely recommend!

The experience at Comptoir was exceptional. From the delicious, fresh and reasonably priced food to the relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere and warm, welcoming staff. Despite the fact that we arrived 30 mins late and had to leave the table for extended time to deal with a personal matter, the staff couldnt have been more accommodating - taking our food back to keep warm, checking in on us and made us feel like we could keep the table forever. Our other dining experiences in bath do not compare. Please visit this wonderful restaurant!

Relaxed Bistro with quirky decoration and lots of unique tableware+ Amazing baguettes, delicious with the baked cheese and any sauce left on the plates+ Friendly staff+ Juicy steak+ never had cauliflower with tahini before, tasted so good that I started making it at home- escargots were so-so- chimichurri not as fragrant as before lockdown

Food was lovely and staff were really friendly but my only issue was that there wasn’t enough social distancing, though I sympathise with the restaurant team as they are working with limited space. It may be feasible to remove some tables for the time being or put up dividers. Other than that, lovely french bistro Im sure I’ll be back too soon enough.

Absolutely amazing place - we called in for drinks one night (amazing espresso martinis) and decided to book dinner for the next night. Dinner was lovely - the food was tasty and extremely well thought out. The cheese board was one of the best Ive ever eaten (and went very well with the recommended champagne). The tapas dishes and dessert were all yummy. Staff were unbelievably lovely and helpful with ordering food, drinks and booking the table. They were also taking social distancing and safety very seriously.

Visited twice -First time 5/5 great service and foodWe wanted to come back for a second visit which was for a special occasion. I booked a table for 2:30 via email. When we arrived we were told that they didn’t have us in the diary and were closed. Really disappointed as it was a special occasion and really spoilt the day. However hopefully can try again as first time was lovely.

I had such a lovely meal here. The food was incredible, the staff were really great and there is a really nice atmosphere.

I was treated to Fathers Day lunch by one of my daughters and really enjoyed it. The place is charming and the food was great, we shared a baked camembert and a plate of charcuterie and were certainly not stinted on anything. Will be taking my wife there before very long.

Exquisite food! On par with the French bistros we go to and love in Paris.We didnt have a reservation but the waiter did his best and found us a seat. We had a platter with French meats and the baked camembert with garlic and herbs - mid-way through which the owner insisted on reheating and bringing back with more bread. The excellent service is where they hook you! Will be coming back.

Really like this place. Very quirky set up. Much bigger than you think from the front. Good selection of drinks, very tasty food. Excellent service, we were very well looked after and our waiter was very helpful and informative.

The place if fabulous. Being French myself it is very authentic. The owners and waiters are doing everything in their power to make you feel great even if they have to make you taste some more cheese ! Lovely little bistro. Came for dinner (reserved in advance for two on a Sunday evening) and were seated in the window, where we could enjoy some people watching and also enjoy the quirky decor inside! Service is genuine and you felt like you were a cherished guest - so lovely. Of course, a great selection of champagne and champagne cocktails, and a happily provided list of what is great on the menu. We had the cheese board (included bread, preserved cherries, figs, fresh grapes), escargots (fat and juicy!), duck breast skewer (stunning, served on a skewer), beef onglet (served with chimichurri), squid (cooked with chilis, zingy!), and the mushroom toast (recommended and oh man, do get it, it is teeming with mushroom punchy flavor, earthy and buttery). And all the while sipping on bubbly! We had a lovely time and the service was so friendly while not being intrusive. Theres seating for smaller groups near the entrance and a few rooms for other seating, and a cool underground cellar spot for drinks. Tip: visit the bathrooms for some cheeky photos :)

Popped in here with the better half for a browse, ended up having some light bites (duck skewer, beef onglet and fried celeriac with black truffle mayo) with a couple of glasses of red (Mont de la Grage) for me and champagne (Lacroix Rose) for her. Food was tasty, drinks were more-ish (dangerous) and the service and ambiance were relaxed and friendly. Great place, awesome stuff for sale, nice feel to it. Will be back.
