This temple is preserved, it is locked in an iron trap, the ruins of the old temple lying outside this temple are lying here. There are two surviving sculptures of Ganesh ji, they are both monolithic, which is made by cutting a stone with a stone. Statue, it is the worlds third largest monolithic statue
Nice Place ....
Interesting fact - Height of Ganesh idol is increasing gradually.
Its a protected monument of india and having a massive statue of idol Lord Ganesha ,the statue is carved out of a single gigantic rock in a brilliant way ,it reflects the art of the historic time of Chhattisgarh ,which is blissful state .

Barsur is a place situated in Gidam-Tirtha (Chitrakote Road) if you travel from Dantewada-Gidam road towarda Jagdalpur. This is famous for its richness of monuments. It is a protected site by ASI. I have been on a bike trip recently but due to rain we could not cover the place. It is a heritage site with 147temple and exactly the no. of ponds equalled to the temple used to be here. There is a ganesh temple here which is famous and also was once vandalised. It is a tourist place and one should definitely visit here if they come to Bastar division range on a trip. We missed it you dont miss it. Surely will come back to see this place and bacheli once again. Till than have happy journey and be safe.

Historical Background;Twin Ganesh of Barsur (Barsoor) is famous for its historical significance. The city Barsur is named after king Banasur, who was great devotee of bhagwan Shiv. It is said that daughters of Banasur, Usha and his ministers daughter Chitralekha were best friends. They were devotee of Ganesha. So they asked their father to construct temple for them. They created this twin Ganesh Temple of Barsur. It is located very near to Mama-Bhanja temple . Ganesh temple has two statues of Lord Ganesha and one Lingam. Besides these statues nothing much has survived. Temple complex is filled with rubble of stones and couple of plinths. As stated earlier, temples of Barsoor are no archeological wonders but Barsoor is worth a visit to experience the village life of Bastar region and for its splendid green countryside. After meandering through temples, I was back to the cross road to catch bus/jeep for my return journey to Jagdalpur. Unfortunately waiting time turned more than expected.Location:This place is located in Chhattisgarh(Check districts map) in Dantewada District. This is located on side of Indravati river 16 kms from Gidam(Gidam is 80 kms from Jagdalpur) on the way of Bhopalpattanam.Air: (Check Chhattisgarh Airmap)From Jagdalpur Airport: 96 kms by Car.Train: (Check Chhattisgarh Trainmap)Dantewada Station, Jagdalpur Station.Idol of Ganesha is made up of Granite
