Casual atmosphere but first class dining experience. The food was excellent- the burger I had was dry aged and packed with flavor. I also got the creme brulee which comes with three different flavors to try (raspberry was the best). I was seated quickly and the service was quick and attentive. The only disappointment were the non-alcoholic drinks which were child-sized, non-refillable, and almost $10.

This was fine dining as advertised. Service was impeccable and very friendly. Water glass never half empty, which is my litmus test for attentive waitstaff. The food was extremely well-prepared with skill, arrived very hot. The best French onion soup I’ve ever had. In particular, the cheese did not glop up in the throat like some, and you know what I mean. Very tasty. The setting was refined and romantic. This was our 17th anniversary and we were very pleased. Would definitely return.

Although we were celebrating our 31st, it was not only the occasion, but also the ambience and service behind the total experience that made this evening all the more. The attention paid to us, the presentation of the food, and the taste itself was flawless. I will definitely be returning, and not simply because it was a special occasion.

I have just been looking for a perfect cozy romantic French rustic restaurant in Washington DC! And this is it! Very close to Union Station. I was worried I may have difficulty finding parking space but had the street parking right in front of the restaurant. They also have outside seating. The server was very polite and they were taking extra care to meet our dietary restrictions. But let me tell you this place has a magical and romantic ambiance. Hands down the place to spend a special event with your spouse. The light French ballads in the background just set the romantic mood. Make reservations early and enjoy a memorable night in DC😍

A friend and I had a wonderful three course meal at Bistro Cacao this weekend. The French cuisine did not disappoint, and neither did the ambiance of the patio and service we received. This is the perfect spot for a romantic date or dinner with friends, and is easily accessible by the red line metro for those of us less keen on driving in the city.

Went last night with my wife, for a first real restaurant experience since COVID started. Sat outdoors in a perfect location, thanks to an attentive maitre d. Service first class, and very well trained. And food was excellent.I give three stars because of two significant shortcomings in the dinner, neither of which should be acceptable in a ~$280 meal:(1) the Carre dAngeau was both extremely tough, and nearly raw. the waiter saw I was having trouble cutting the meat, and brought a steak knife, and even that could not get through it. Very disappointing, especially since the rest of that plate -- including especially the pureed roasted eggplant with roasted cauliflower and aubergines mix was to die for! And, (2) failure was the Paris Brest dessert. Excellent presentation, but the filling lacked taste at all, as though someone forgot to add an ingredient, perhaps some more vanilla?Other than those two failures, the remainder of the meal was excellent! The Magret de Canard, the old fashioned, the Pate de Campagne, and the French Onion soup.We will definitely go back, but Ill be more careful on a few orders.

My daughter and I dined at Bistro Cacao for Mothers Day Brunch. Although it is a home that was turned into a restaurant, dont let this make you think its low budget. I absolutely love what theyve done to the place. Unfortunately, each dish took way too long to come to our table. The food was also cold. I will say its worth a second try so Ill be back one more time before truly making up my mind.

Not crowded - because we decided to go on a Thursday 3 days before Valentines Day - and plenty of space even if was a packed house.Servings were on point and cooked well.Restaurant is following all COVID guidelines and you can even pay online!Loss one star with the length of time for the dish, but maybe Im impatient. Food was definitely worth the wait though so I think it mightve made up for it.

This is a beautiful place with amazing food! You feel like you just stepped into Paris. We sat in one of the booths which was really romantic. I had the pineapple dream cocktail which was so sweet and delectable. I also got the burrata salad and the tuna. I loved them both. We finished with a profiterole which was obviously amazing because who doesnt love puff pastry and ice cream! 100% recommend

SO and I went for our anniversary dinner and had a wonderful time. We ate outside and the environment was still very good. Waitstaff was very courteous and helpful with daily specials. The food was very good and high quality ingredients. I had the chicken and pasta and my SO had the daily special which I believe was a fish. Portions are not large but well sized, portion size is not really why you go to a french restaurant after all. We had some very refreshing premeal cocktails and a very delicious wine with our food. Dessert was a shared very rich chocolate cake with homemade ice cream. Will be returning.

I am super picky about brunch - don’t get me wrong, I love brunch but I just haven’t been impressed by any restaurants in the DMV area. I’ve tried so many brunch places and was always left wanting. However, Bistro Cacao changes this and this is, by far, my favorite brunch place in the area. We had their pastry basket, crab hash, and a dessert - and everything was so good! The crab hash was my favorite and would highly recommend. And on top of all of that, their outdoor seating area is so cute and quaint - really makes me feel like I’m in some cute restaurant in France.

This is our 3rd visit to the restaurant and I had to downgrade my previous 4-star rating, due mostly to to the service (which is normally excellent... not sure what happened on this day). It was 15 minutes after being seated that we finally saw the waiter. He was a nice kid, but clearly very new at this. I was amazed there was no supervision. He seemed constantly forgetful that we were there, although there were very few people in the restaurant. The appetizers were both excellent - tartar and charcuterie - and the wine was so good that we bought a 2nd bottle. I dont remember the name, but it was a French chardonnay for around $60. I would not recommend the chicken dish, which was bland, dry, and without any character. The red snapper was delicious and well-accompanied by fennel and another vegetable or two. Still hungry when we left, so it was definitely a French meal. That may be because of the service (we were there for about 2.5 hours)I think brunch may be the highlight of this restaurant. Probably wont go back for dinner.

Hands down AMAZING. Not one complaint at all. Food came out perfect for every course. As a Chef, I tend to be critical of dishes when dining out. I kept my mouth shut because I kept stuffing it with more food! The french onion soup is to die for bursting with robust flavors. The scallops were cooked to perfection, the pairings of sweet, savory and salty made for an awesome experience. Filet cooked to perfection..tender as ever. The desserts topped it off. The chef did not drop the ball throughout my experience. Excellent job. Front of house staff was attentive and responded positively and in a timely fashion with every request.THANK YOU! Food: Traditional French expectations with a modern American comfort. The Foie Gras is unctuous and when paired with the berries becomes a treat. The pate is average, but average is not bad. The french onion soup is one of the best I have ever had, gruyere cheese. Deserts are the high quality you would expect from a French bistro. I am convinced this is the place in DC to try French food, for an authentic yet easy introduction.Service: On top of their game and professional at all times. Front of house is friendly and makes you feel special.Atmosphere: This place was built for date night, whether first date or night out with the wife. Plenty of privacy around artfully and thoughtfully crafted table alcoves. Shabby Chic French decor takes you to a timeless Parisian cafe.I would recommend this place without any hesitation.

After reading the reviews, I was highly anticipating this restaurant on my vacation. However, upon arrival the reality was the decor was dated, chair upholstery was ripped and not in good condition. Waiter seemed scatter and unsure of menu changes and specials. Could offer recommendations for wines. The food was okay, the bread was dry on the ends as it had clearly been sitting out. The food was under seasoned but filling. The dessert we ordered was the profiteroles and they came was virtually no filling and only 3 small ones. The bathrooms are filled with fabrics that were dirty and clearly have not been washed in a long time. The chandeliers are filled with dust and cob webs. Overall not the experience we had hoped for, especially for a $280usd dinner.

Staff was great and they’ve created a nice Covid-proof situation on their patio. Considering their raving reviews for brunch we were surprised to find them almost empty on a Sunday afternoon. I understand better now. While their menu looks tasty the actual food that came out was disappointing. Pastries were undercooked (probably because they came from freezing, meaning store bought. I had higher expectations from a French bistro). And their prices are too high. I mean $16 for a tarte flambee which basically consists of only flour, an onion, few slivers of bacon and a scoop of crème fraîche.

On entry it a reception bar and fireplace. The resturant in cosy almost romantic a sort of labyrinth to different dining areas. Service is good. I chose from the resturant week menu. Barrat salad for starter it was fresh and different portions neuaveux French. A steak pom frite with nice sauce. Glass of house Merlot. Profitoles or pear for desert. Rooms and tables for groups of places for 2 with red curtains. All the chairs are arm chairs of some sort. The decorations are red! Popular Talouse Letrec pictures. Nice plates and glasses. For two we were all in 76 dollars. 20 of that was wine by the glass. The experience was good. Relaxing to French and brazilian music. It was a refreshing. There are so unless better French cuisine in town for more. What they did was good and affordable.Brunch was popular we had reservations which is way to do on the internet. It appears to work.
